Sony Audio: 100 or 390 watt?
FoutsNC replied to dalebunker's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I can't answer your question definitively, but I can tell you that my wife's Sony HD Audio system in her 2013 Escape is much nicer. I think it's mostly due to the subwoofer in the rear of the Escape. I am about positive that the C-Max does not have a subwoofer. At least I haven't found it yet if it is there. It also seems that the other speakers are less powered than hers are. My assumption would be that the C-Max does have a 100W system, while the other Sony HD setups have the 390W setups. It would be interesting to see what's in the Fusion Hybrid though. -
Would you buy the CMax if the advertised MPG was below 47/47?

Sorry Valk.. I couldn't resist -
I found some interesting wallpapers that others had already done for the MFT. I figured this would be a good post to share: http://focusmftwallpapers.tumblr.com/ Here's a thread on another forum that also has some really good ones http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281822&page=5 In 2010 when I first picked up my 2011 Explorer, there was an option to remove the home screen overlay. They have since taken that away though :(

I really like my car as well. So much so that I am sure I will be trading up in a couple of years. I am hoping that a Titanium edition will be available at that point. I would love to see the following offered at that point. Adaptive Cruise Control HID Headlights and LED tail, brake, and markers Coin Holder Memory Seats Remote Start built in on the same remote MFT Hyrbid system display A lined pocket in the dash area for a phone and such A Ford Accessory to block off the front grill area for cold weather MPG - Or a system that would automatically divert airflow in cold weather A three setting heated seat option that would work with remote start Manual EV+ Mode on unused thumb button on shift lever - Or a manual ECO mode that would limit ICE use and performance to improve MPG A flush locking mechanism on the rear door for safety Connectors for a mesh cargo net in the rear A stronger feeling Ambient Lighting control adn sunglass holder Instant numeric MPG would be a nice MyView Option More MyView options that would provide more OBD views (It's there, just make it viewable) I would LOVE to see the Energi with a fold flat setup. If that were the case with the above options, I would happily pick one up!! Heck, I would probably pick one up this year if it hit the market :)

Another MFT glitch - it froze while driving!
FoutsNC replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I actually had a blue screen of death wallpaper for my Explorer's MFT when they allowed for full screen wallpapers. They removed that option since it confused people to have multiple wallpaper options. It was funny to see people's reactions while it worked though :) -

Nice find.. I hope that they will work to exceed the 10% improvement. I haven't had any major issues YET, but I know that they are always right around the corner. I am extremely hopeful that 3.5.1 for the Hybrids will clear a lot of this up. -
Windows rolled themselves today
FoutsNC replied to AMSDPS's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I have not had this happen, yet there is a difference in the fobs between the Escape with remote start and the C-Max (at least ours are different). I have actually unlocked my doors from my C-Max keyfob while it was in my pocket. The unlock button on the fob is on the top of the fob and is fairly easy to depress accidentally. The Escape is the 3rd button down and each button on that type of fob has to be depressed differently than the C-Max fob. Personally I would take the car into Ford though if you are pretty sure you didn't depress the button. It might not be an issue with the car itself, it could be an issue with one of your keyfobs. -

I would actually think it's a part of the vast right wing conspiracy due to the fact that you were on the Ronald Reagan freeway ;) -
Just in case it is raining, apply some Rain X. I rarely use my wipers except for the mist from time to time :)

I have noticed a difference between the 2. I have also noticed that the EV assist with ECO cruise comes on a lot more than when I am not using cruise. I was really trying hard to play around with different approaches for the best MPG. What surprised me is that my MPG was quite good when I just stopped paying that much attention to it. Much like you, I have found that paying attention to terrain can really help though. For me, I am using ECO Cruise whenever possible and using the Cancel/Resume lever to manage speed, stops, hills, etc. I found that I could probably squeeze another ~3-4 MPG out of the car with P&G and Neutral glides, yet it was too much work for me. I will pay the 25 cents more in fuel per day and just drive normally. I am still whooping my MPG from my Explorer I traded in without thinking about it. My wife's 2013 Escape is only getting 23MPG with the 2.0 Ecoboost, so I am really happy with a 39 average in the winter here. By the way, by cutting out one of my daily Starbucks Venti Fraps per month, I can save more than enough to enjoy the drive :)

Thank you for that info! I would have never known about that discount and I purchase stuff from them all the time.
-
Congrats on the purchase! Being just down the road from you, I am sure you will do just fine without the Winter Package ;)

Their DigitalFit mats are always awesome! I have been buying them for quite some time now. I am just waiting for the window deflectors to come out to place my order :) Hopefully it will be soon.

It's a great pickup car! It can go from 0 to 60 in about 7.5 seconds :runaway:

I do believe that the keyfob has to be inside the car to actually start it. After it's started, you can leave the car with the key and leave it running.
-
Well, I never used it for drafting with my 2011 Explorer that had it. I could see the 1 line Gap setting being used to do that with the C-Max and Semis though. I usually kept the Gap set to 2 or 3 and just relaxed. I really really loved the ACC and was thrilled to see it on the Fusion Titanium. When I saw that the C-Max fit my needs more than the Fusion, I forgot about the ACC. Now I would love to see if back. Especially seeing how the Eco-Cruise really helps to maintain good MPGs over what my heavy foot will do.

As Valk said, as long as it's started with the key inside the car, the car can be driven until fuel runs out. There have been several times that I have left my key in my pocket while the valet drove off in it. I don't think that there is any proximity sensor to turn the car off if the key is outside. I do know that the horn will sound if you leave the car on and get out of the car, yet someone can get in and drive away if it's unlocked and on.

There are no noise producing options on the current C-Max for the vision impared. The US DOT has proposed new sound requirements that will most likely be seen on future models. It looks like a speaker will have to be installed under the hood and a device to make a sound that the manufacturer sends to it. http://www.dot.gov/briefing-room/us-department-transportation-proposes-new-minimum-sound-requirements-hybrid-and Personally, I really like the stealth option with this car. My awareness of people walking in parking lots and such is much higher than it used to be. I am sure we have all seen the surprise on people's faces when we pass them silently when they didn't know we were there. I wonder what manufacturer will be using the Jetson's sound to differentiate their hybrids

I didn't know I had automatic wipers!
FoutsNC replied to osiebosie's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I didn't know either until a couple of weeks ago. The manual shows that the Automatic wiper option will have an A on the wand for the wipers. Mine doesn't have the A, so I figured they weren't automatic. I pulled into a carwash and the wipers started. I didn't know that I had left them on Intermittent, but at that moment I figured out they were automatic :) This past weekend I used them quite a bit and I am glad that they were on there. Now if I can just find out how to enable to Adaptive Cruise Control :rant2: Hopefully that will be on the 2015 model when I trade this one in. -
Thank you! I am setting up an appointment to get mine checked out next week with a couple of other little things. That should be very helpful.

Great info about that TSB. Do you have the TSB number as RMS requested above? I know there are a lot of people here having that issue.
-
You could be on to something there. I didn't even think about that, but it's a possibility. I will have to think about that the next time it happens.
-
Completely agree. We had temps in the low 70s this weekend. I was quite amazed at the difference. I took a trip this weekend where it was rainy (wipers and A/C for humidity), foggy (fog lights), and in the mountains and I still came out with over 40MPG for the tank. This also included extended periods of 75+ MPH driving to stay with the nutty traffic pattern in those conditions. You can see the difference on my Fuelly page, even with those conditions. Short trips and cold weather are what kills the MPG on this car, as well as other hybrids. I am looking forward to Spring now :)

I have had an issue a couple of times when attempting to unlock a rear door. No matter how close I was or where my hand was, it wouldn't unlock. I had to grab one of the front doors to unlock it. Each time I check it again once I close the door back and it works as it should have in the beginning. My wife's 2013 Escape does the same exact thing too. I just can't seem to duplicate it regularly enough to take it to the dealer yet.
