  1. #20 is supposed to be answered in the next MFT update. Most of the non-hybrid MFTs already have this release rolled out. Not sure what's taking so long for the hybrid update. I emailed Ford and they said that it is not available for the C-Max or any hybrids yet and they weren't sure when it would be. I would think the MFT portion would be very similar. Anyways, they are adding the temp next to the time. They had it that way in 2010, then took it in a release earlier this year, and now they are adding it back. What's funny though, is Ford is talking it up like it is a new feature with this latest release :) You can see some details about the release under the syncmyride.com update area.
  2. The Bi-Directional aspect gives you the ability to know that the car has received the signal. When you start the car from the fob, a signal is sent to the car. With the bi-directional setup, a signal is sent back to the remote and a light will flash to confirm the car has started. I have had both types of setups in prior cars. I will only have bi-directional setups installed now. There's nothing like hitting the remote to start the car from the bedroom in the middle of winter to only find out that it never started. It really doesn't start the day off right that way.
  3. Here's the link for anyone that's interested: http://www.siriusxm.com/travellink
  4. It is a part of the Sirus XM Travel Link upgrade packages. If you opt to keep the Sirius radio, this will not come with the default radio package. Also, if you haven't found it yet, ask the car to show you nearby fuel prices ;) You can also look up sports scores, movie listings, and stock prices with this package. It ranges from an additional $1.99 to $8.99 per month for the different packages. My suggestion is to wait until it's about to expire and call Sirius to see what "options" they have available. Play it down and let them know that your local HD Radio is really great, but you're just seeing what's out there. With a little back and forth, they should offer you some really great pricing options.
  5. I haven't had any issues at all. I have found that it will not lock even if a door is slightly ajar. It also doesn't seem to lock when the liftgate is open. Other than that, I haven't had any issues. With your issue, can you lock the door with the fob button when you are unable to lock with the handle? If so, there might really be something wrong. I have found that rain can cause it to act a little weird sometimes, but that also happened on my BMW and Explorer before.
  6. Mine did it for the first time on Saturday. I just set the time again and it's been fine since. It's a bit off that so many of us seem to have this issue. I had a MyFordTouch setup in my Explorer for 2 years and never had this issue.
  7. Do you happen to be closing the door by the handle itself? If you have the fob in your pocket and you touch the door handle in areas other than the block square that locks it, it could unlock that way. Here's some info from the manual that might help explain other causes: Smart Unlocks for Intelligent Access Keys (If Equipped) This feature helps to prevent you from unintentionally locking your intelligent access key inside your vehicle’s passenger compartment or rear cargo area. When you lock your vehicle using the power door lock control (with the door open, vehicle in park and ignition off), after you close the door the vehicle will search for an intelligent access key in the passenger compartment. If an intelligent access key is found inside the vehicle, all of the doors will immediately unlock and the horn will chirp, indicating that the intelligent access key is inside. In order to override the smart unlock feature and intentionally lock the intelligent access key inside the vehicle, you can lock your vehicle after all doors are closed by pressing the lock button on another intelligent access key or touching the locking area on the handle with another intelligent access key in your hand. When you open one of the front doors and lock the vehicle using the power door lock control, all doors will lock then unlock if: • the ignition is on, or • the ignition is off and the vehicle is not in P.
  8. C-MaxJaxon hit it on the head. The Avg MPG displayed in the different views is not the lifetime MPG, that's the Average for that display since it was reset. To reset that average, hold the left OK button down while you are on the Avg MPG display screen (the one where's it's by itself), and you will see a little reset meter go across and it will reset. This will not reset the lifetime or trip averages.
  9. The 65MPH is the speed at which the cruise control is set at. It's greyed out when it's in a standby state and green when it's active. If you increase or decrease the set speed, the number will change along with it. Since it is setup for the Energi, I am sure the regular C-Max could have the same thing with a simple update. My wife's Escape shows the speed and my 2011 Explorer did as well. It doesn't really matter too much since you can always look at the speedometer, it's just nice to see the numeric confirmation :)
  10. I always remove the dealer frame and stickers before I leave the lot. I do usually get some kind of comment from them. I then let them know that I will be happy to advertise for them, for a small fee. That usually ends the discussion. I did have one dealer in FL try and tell me that it was state law to have them on there. I chuckled and handed him the sticker I just took off. As for the frame, I personally don't like to have anything over it. I used to like the tinted plastic plexiglass covers to darken it a little, but those are illegal in NC now.
  11. If it ends abruptly at midnight, I suppose I will be in the C-Max heading home from work ;) I have made plans for Christmas, so it better not happen or I might be a bit upset.
  12. As Jus-A-CMax stated above, EV+ is Off by default. You have to go through the setting to enable it. You will then see it come on around your frequent stops after a week or two. With some of the MPG issues going around, I wish they would make a button to turn EV+ on manually. It would really help from time to time just to make it over a slight slope and save some MPGs.
  13. Same here... I think it's a problem with the site, it's not just you.
  14. I checked my leather ones today and the seatback is also heated. If there is no heat coming from your seatback, you might want to get that checked out.
  15. I am sure he will respond before too long, but ptjones has been playing around with a few different concepts. Check out his gallery to see what he's done. Also look through his posts to see some of the results that he has has. You are in a colder area and it might be of even greater benefit for you. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/user/143-ptjones/
  16. I second that. I have to remind myself of the cargo room, which I really do need the fold flat area for my dogs.
  17. Here's his announcement that he was trading the Volt in from a couple of months ago: http://insideevs.com/why-im-trading-in-my-chevy-volt-for-a-ford-c-max-energi/
  18. Lyle gives some side by side comparisons between the two after trading in his Volt yesterday for the Energi. Chevrolet Volt versus Ford C-Max Energi Extended Drive http://insideevs.com/chevrolet-volt-versus-ford-c-max-energi-extended-drive/
  19. It's not about the proximity to the sensor. There's another issue going on. I have tried it several different ways, some without being close to the sensor at all. I also have the same system on the Escape and it doesn't matter whether you are close to the sensor or not. It could be as simple as an adjustment, yet it seems like Ford doesn't know what's causing it just yet. Hopefully they will know before I take mine in. I don't want to wait a month for it either.
  20. I have the same issue with the 2 kick thing. It will activate with 1 kick every now and then (locked or unlocked), but it usually takes 2. The first kick will make it unlock and release from the latch, the next will lift it. I wouldn't say it's loud, yet it is louder than the same setup in the 2013 Escape we have. I will also mention that the Escape works on the first kick, every time. I have it on a short list of little things I need the dealership to address when I take it in. Hopefully they will have a quick and easy fix for it.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEnOYmic94Y From this video screen, I believe that this is an Energi model. It has 15 mi on the battery, which I would assume is to represent the milage left on the battery charge. With that being said, it doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal to add it. I believe that a lot of these smaller touches will be out in the 2014 C-Max Titanium if sales go well enough this year :)
  22. Thanks for the heads up on that. I had no clue that this was built in. I use the MyView with the Empower and 5 Minute graph so I wouldn't have known.
  23. Great ideas there! I have thought about the block heater or something like that as well. As temps drop here, I might tinker around with a couple of options and see how they work out. I have also thought about a battery charger. I understand that they would love to sell the Energi's, but I think a charger accessory option for the standard C-Max would be great. With the EV+ coming into work and home now, my battery is extremely low when I turn the car off. With a charge, it would at least save me a bit of fuel. I would be highly interested in your temp differences with and without your grill cover. With the ScanGuage, you can see realtime intake temps. I think it would be a great test to see what they are with and without the cover. Of course, the car would have to be up to temp already for the testing with a fairly stable temp outside. I would really like to have an indicator for the position on the louvers for the grill. I have yet to play around down there, but I probably will before too long. If there is a switch (which I am sure there is) I am thinking of connecting an LED to show me the current position while I am driving. I would think that they should be closed at all times until the car's engine reaches 170-180 in temp. There are also some holes in the top grill area that I noticed. I am sure during very cold weather these would make a diffence as well. I do not see where they close off with the louvers though. Keep up the great ideas. It might be really interesting what some small changes could do to MPG. If you get any crazy ideas, you better file for a provisional patent before talking too much ;)
  24. First, allow me to tell you about myself a bit. I am a frequent new car purchaser. I drive about 25,000 miles per year and comfort usually trumps MPG. Before this purchase, I had a 2011 Limited Explorer with every option except for the DVD. I really liked the Fusion Hybrid and I honestly didn't need the room in the Explorer since I closed my business. I went down to the dealership to check out the Fusion and that's when I first saw the C-Max. To be honest, it didn't completely thrill me at first. I had seriously looked at the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius in the past and they were not for me. I love techie toys and really wanted to like the Prius for the techie factor, but after a half day drive in it there was no way I would purchase one. With that said, I was still fairly set on the Fusion and I went home to await the release of the Titanium. As I sat around and waited the C-Max kept on coming up in my mind. I went back and test drove one and was highly impressed, yet it still wasn't thrilling. The wife wasn't too crazy about it since she loved the SUVs and she thought the Explorer was small since we traded an Excursion in for it a couple years earlier. After some long debates about what we really "needed" and how we were going to use it, I was able to get her to like it a bit. The day I took delivery, I kind of prepped my friends. They had always seen me in big vehicles with all the options and toys you could pile up on them. I kept telling them "I am making a practical choice for our needs". I was thinking that I would be "okay" with the car for a year or two, but it would save me a bit and it would probably be worth it in the long run. While I was making the deal, I was really second guessing everything. I took the keys and drove off. On the way to the house (30 miles) I was up on the wide open Interstate with the wife following me in her 7 series BMW. I notice that I am leaving her behind and look down to see that I am cruising along at 85MPH. She will barely do 5 over the limit. It was in that moment that my whole attitude towards this little car changed. I began giving it a true lookover and I was becoming more and more impressed. The fit and finish is much higher than I would have expected. The car is extremely quiet whether you are putting around town or blazing down the highway. The Hybrid setup is awesome. I hated the way that that the Prius and Insight drove and the fact that I felt like I was always impeding traffic with the lack of power. Now, I will not say that this is some speed demon, yet the 0-60 specs on this car are in line with the Explorer I just traded in and just a little slower than the BMW (no kidding). The guages give you a much better feel than either the Prius or Insight does. I am still impressed with the system. I have almost 2,000 miles on the car. I have taken it for a 5 hour (each way) trip with my wife, our dog, a crate, and luggage and enjoyed every minute of it. During this trip, we sat in a bit of traffic and I enjoyed sitting there without burning a drop of gas! The only option that I really miss is the Adaptive Cruise Control. It would be a fantasic option on this car as the cruise control really helps to boost the MPG. I am actually starting to enjoy keeping up with the MPG now and I am averaging close to 43MPG at this point. Since MPG wasn't my biggest point, I am not sweating a little bit of a difference from the EPA numbers. I never expect EPA and I am thrilled with 43! With the extra weight, power, and the fit and finish over it's competitors, I am shocked that it does so well. At this point, I have to say that I do absolutely LOVE this C-Max. The wife actually traded in her BMW with me and downsized to an Escape Titanium. While she was waiting on her car to come, she drove the C-Max a few times. She will tell you that she actually kind of wishes she had gotten one too now. She likes her Escape, but she LOVES the C-Max too. As for your interior question, we did get the Stone interior with the White Platinum. I believe that lighter cars with lighter interiors do help with the heat in the summers. I have owned black cars with black interiors and the summers were awful. I also tint my vehicles pretty dark which helps a lot. I would recommend a lighter setup if that's a concern for you. As for the dealer dealings, check with your Employer for any possible discount programs (Like X-Plan). If you don't have anything like that, there are some rebates going on here and there. Someone mentioned a discount coupon in some brochure they received. The MSRP to Invoice difference seems to be between $1500 and $2000, which might help you with negotiating a bit as well. If you seriously take a look at each competitor within this market, I think you will come away highly impressed with the C-Max. Do a little homework and make the choice that is best for you. I have recommended the car to several people so far and each Prius owning friend that I have are all interested. I even talked to a Leaf owner today and perked his interest a bit. If he wasn't in a lease, he said that he would highly consider checking it out since he has run into a couple of issues with long trips over the year. Keep us informed and let us know how things work out for you. Best of luck to you.
  25. That's actually an awesome idea! Maybe someone at Ford will pick up on this. I would think it would be some fairly simple report programming for them. It would also be another option that other Hybrids don't have :)
