  1. I completely agree. I had BLIS on my 2011 Explorer and it worked great, most of the time. That's where the problem comes in. The reliability of the system is not 100% and it really needs to be if it is to be a true blind spot system. We have the feature on my wife's new Escape (because it was already ordered like that) and she prefers my mirrors as well. The only really nice feature of the BLIS system was the cross traffic alert. Other than that, it's a "neat" feature, but not as great as you might think at first. I will probably be adding some bubble mirrors to the wife's Escape along with the lights.
  2. Well, you have peaked my interest... I have to assume you have been playing around with something new again ;)
  3. I will agree with the OP and say that they seem to be warmer than the prior heated seats that I have had in the past. I don't find that to be a bad thing though. If it's cool outside, I put it on 1 and allow it to warm up. Once I am warm, I turn it off and everything is good. I will also agree with the others and say that my wife keeps her side on 3. I think 5 would be too warm for either one of us, unless it was extremely cold outside. Side Note - I have read posts about turning the climate control off on cold starts to save fuel from the warming process. I think having a warmer than usual heated seat should really help with the comfort in this case. Once it does get cold here, I plan to put the seat on 2, turn the climate control off, and see if there is any difference in the warm up process and fuel usage.
  4. Now if they could just get the Adaptive Cruise Control in the C-Max! With the amount that I try and use cruise, it would be a major option that I would happily pay for. I had it on my 2011 Explorer and that's the one option that I really miss. Maybe the 2015's will have it :)
  5. It seems like there are several people, including myself, that were pulled into the dealership for the new Fusion and swung to the C-Max. I am thrilled that I changed my mind. The cargo area, hatchback, and seating position really made the difference for me.
  6. I am driving "normally" for me, with a lead foot. I really expected to putt around when I got this car even though I am not known to do so. I had driven a Prius before and putting around was about all it would allow you to do and that's what I expected. Personally, I just cannot stand the look and feel of Toyota's products. I owned one for about a year and paid dearly to get rid of it. With the C-Max, I am taking off at lights (Tach runs just below the yellow area) and going up to about 5 miles over the speed limit. At this point, I will usually set Cruise (if I am thinking about it) and let the cruise do the work. We also live in a fairly hilly area and my commute is only 9 miles to and from work (take into account for heating needs) with the commute home being in the dark (lighting needed). For the first 1300 miles, I was averaging around 34-36 which was a little less than I was hoping for. I now have 1700 miles on it and the milage is really changing for the better. Over the last 2 weeks I have averaged 42.6MPG. The temps have been fairly cool and I have been running the heated seats and regular heat. I am using regular 10-15% gas from Sheetz and haven't changed the oil. I am really happy with the milage I am getting. The other great thing about this car is lining up at a red light with a Prius. I will keep my somewhat lower MPGs for the performance and comfort difference. If you decide to get the C-Max, I don't think you will be disappointed. I will also mention that I have never gotten anywhere close to EPA rated milage with any car that I have purchased (which has been quite a few) and the Prius was under 40MPG in the trip that I made in it last year.
  7. Well, that's partially correct. UVB rays are blocked by the standard the glass within vehicles. Windshields are treated to block some UVA rays, yet it still gets through. The side windows are usally not treated at all for UVA. I am not sure if the roof glass in the C-Max is or isn't treated for UVA. If you have had issues with skin cancer, I would highly suggest visiting a "good" tint shop in your area (Don't stop by the cheapo tint places). A good shop will have several options. Most tint will block most of the remaining UVA rays, yet there are some UV Blocking films that are clear that will block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. My wife has lupus and we've had to do some research on this subject. We use a dark reflective tint on everything except for the windshield. We have the UV Blocking film on the windshield. Not only does it help with the blocking of UV light, it also keeps it cooler in the summer and saves the interior.
  8. Ok, this started bugging me as well, so I did some digging. Like roninsd stated above, they have to do with the Noise Cancellation system. From what I have read, they are microphones that pickup the ambient noise. From there, the system sends opposing audio frequencies through the vehicle's audio system to assist in cancelling out the overall noise level. I am still not completely sold on this explanation, but at least it makes me believe that they are there for a reason. I was known as the child that tore everything apart to figure out how it worked. Thankfully Google saved my new car's headliner this time :)
  9. The best option would be to write a letter to Ford marketing and ask for an alternative. I would also send a copy directly to the CEO as well. You might be surprised in their response. Car manufacturers are attempting to be a bit more accomadating with their options. They put some emphasis on the green aspects of the cloth seats. In case you weren't aware, the shifter is also leather. I assume that would need to be changed too for you.
  10. I did not have this fee when I purchased mine a couple of weeks ago. They attempted to charge me a $795 "Doc Fee" and quickly dropped it to $99. I refused to pay the $99 and told them to do the deal without docs if they needed to. They decided that it wasn't worth it to keep it on there. They also tried to throw in a $49 Nitro Fill fee and said that it was already done and that it had to be charged too. I told them that I would be happy to deflate the tires and use the Tire Mobility Kit to refill them. They removed the charge and left them filled (Not sure if it really makes a difference anyways from what I have read). I have never heard of any dealer charging for fuel and I would not have paid for that either. I have the X-Plan through my employer, which allows our purchase to be $100 over invoice. If you are employed by a large corporation, find out if they participate in the X-Plan with Ford. If you're not sure, always ask the dealer to look your employer up to check and see if they participate. It saved me about $3000 off the sticker on the C-Max. Full Disclosure - I have no problem taking my time negotiating... We started Saturday night around 8PM and we shook hands on Tuesday around 11AM ;)
  11. I am not sure either, but it looks like the soft sided cargo organizer is included. Personally, I wouldn't call the salesperson. I would call the parts department and ask them. They should be able to pull up the information on the complete package and let you know. Once you have that information, then you can call the salesperson to see where the rest of the package is.
  12. ahh... now I know what you are talking about... lol. I have actually wondered about those myself. My thought is that they might have something to do with the Sync mic setup for noise cancellation, but I could be totally off. Maybe someone here knows that can enlighten us all :)
  13. There are a couple at the local dealers here. The one at the dealer I purchased mine from was gone quickly. The day that I was there, quite a few tire kickers were checking it out. If it wasn't for the non-fold flat cargo area, I probably would have driven it home.
  14. Congrats on your purchase! There are a few "doodads" up there :) The forward one is the sunglass holder, with a dial behind that for the Ambient lighting. The button to the left of the dial is the color pallette to change the LED colors and the button to the right turns the LEDs to white for better visibility and the overhead lights on if they are enabled with the door switch. If the LEDs are not on at night, make sure you turn the dial to see if that will turn them on. I test drove a few at night and the settings were different in each from people playing. The 2 lights in the front and back are your main cabin lights. The front one has 2 buttons in the back for side to side lighting, as does the light in the rear. The other 2 buttons are to switch the lights on with the door opening or unlocked with remote. The other turns all the lights on, similar to the one near the dial. Hope that helps. If not, I am sure others will chime in. The manual is also pretty thorough about all the features.
  15. I purchased a Grip Pad and cut it to fit the little flat area above the Nav screen and below the CD slot. It works really well for keeping small items up there. I use it for bottle tops from my soda (so I don't lose it) and for my cigs and lighter. I also have an iOttie for my iPhone that I have on the left side of the dash for my phone. Everything else fits in the bottomless console area. Here's a link for the pad and iOttie if anyone is interested: http://www.amazon.com/Heininger-1065-CommuteMate-DashGrip/dp/B003A8D6YG http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-INCREDIBLE-BlackBerry-RotatableRotatable/dp/B007FHX9OK
  16. http://www.carid.com...ax-cargo-liner/ http://www.partscheap.com/2013-Ford-C-MAX-Cargo-Area-Protector-p/DM5Z-6111600-AA.htm That's the only ones that I can find right now. I am sure that WeatherTech will have one within the next few months. I am waiting for their rainguards to come out :)
  17. csavage7, I have only had my C-Max for a week now, but I have been following this thread since before I picked it up. The first time this happened to me, I thought that it was an issue with the car as well. Before I did anything, I looked at the dash and it looked exactly like your photo above (No Green Go light and the Check Engine Light). I put the car back into Park, depressed the brake pedal, and then everything worked as it should. I have since done this a couple of times now and each time it has been due to my lack of checking the dash and/or depressing the brake. The Check Engine (OBD) light will come on when you don't depress the brake and when you are in "Accessory" mode like it would with any other car. It's just indicating that the motor has not been started or engaged as in the case of the Hybrid. I could be wrong about some of the cases here, but I think mine so far has been completely my fault. I pay more attention to the "Ready to Drive" pop up and try not to touch the shifter until I see that banner. I have yet to see the banner and have this happen. I will surely provide an update if it does happen, but I think the problem was between the seat and the steering wheel in my case ;)
  18. I have seen several commercials for the car on different channels lately. I was actually initially interested in the new Fusion Hybrid. I would have purchased one, but I was holding out for the Titanium version early next year. I visited the dealership to test drive the Fusion Hybrid and saw the C-Max while I was there. It had just hit the showroom that day and the sales people were still playing with it and I didn't have much of a look at that time. While waiting for the Fusion Titanium release I started thinking more and more about the C-Max. Since we have dogs, we really liked the idea of the hatchback. We called the dealer and asked them to set out a Fusion SEL Hybrid and a C-Max SEL for us to compare. After spending a few hours in both, the C-Max outshined the Fusion for our needs. Since the purchase last week, I have been shocked at how much I am enjoying this car.
  19. Congrats on your purchase and I am glad to hear you are still liking it after 6 weeks. We purchased one last week. I traded in a 2011 Explorer Limited and I am still surprised at how much I am enjoying the C-Max. We made the choice due to our needs changing and the savings. I really didn't expect to enjoy being more practical. We live in NC, yet we did make a trip down to Charleston last weekend in our new C-Max. I really enjoy the second looks after people assume it's another Prius and then see the Ford emblem :)
