2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD
62Lincoln replied to ptjones's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Paul, are you sure? I had been thinking that part was the plastic panel that sits inboard of the rocker panel, but looking at the diagram, I think you are right! The diagram makes it look like they would attach using the existing push pins and perhaps one bolt. Have you bought them yet? -

Build date on my car was August 2013 (it's an Energi, not sure if that matters). I'd love to check for mounting points for the rear deflectors, but honestly not sure what to look for, since we don't know much about the rear deflectors. I want to take another run at trying to get a part number for them, but don't hold much hope, since no one has had success thus far. -

All the slots and the hole at 7:00 (I guess it would be at 5:00 on the driver side) for the push pin were already there. Made the install extremely simple. I was lucky enough to find the push pin part number, so had exactly the correct size for this application, courtesy of Ford. -

Front deflectors installed. My car had all the slots precut in the underbody shield, so the install was almost completely plug and play. All I had to do was remove 2 Torx screws from the shield that hold the rear of the deflector. I used the push pins I bought at the Ford dealer (specifically for this application per Fordparts.com). Push pin part number: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=8279&pictureid=45941 Overhead view of passenger side deflector as it would be installed (2 holes at rear use the removed Torx 30 screws, tab at 7:00 uses the push pin connector): http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=8279&pictureid=45943 Final install, factory perfect: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=8279&pictureid=45944 -

I have my two front deflectors, and hopefully will install them this weekend. I've looked under the car, and low and behold, the panel underneath the car appears to have slots precut for all of the tabs on the deflectors, as well as a precut hole for the fastener too! If I have time, I plan to go by the dealer and see if I can get the exact fastener that is used. If I don't have time, I'll probably put this off until I can get the fastener. I would still like to get the rear deflectors, but it seems we have hit a wall in determining the part number for those parts. -
The Fusion is also built at the Flat Rock plant, alongside the Mustang.

C-Max using Focus Sport Suspension
62Lincoln replied to FreeMiles's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
I like that you are thinking about trying this, I wish I could help with some information. Personally, I wish there were a set of premium coilovers for the Focus that would also fit the C-Max. I had a set of Ohlins on my previous car and they were the single best mod I've ever had on a car. -
Maxus get a acrylic rear spoiler
62Lincoln replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I might have missed this, did you decide not to order the rear spoiler from Loder in Germany? -
This is the Euro version, but presumably at least the cosmetic updates will translate to the U.S. at some point after the Euro introduction. Not much detail at the link, but supposedly "all will be revealed" on September 17: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/09/15/2015-ford-c-max-teaser/

Euro headlights - pointless mod, but whatever :)

Thanks again, really good stuff! I think my headlights will come out in the next few weeks, so this info will really come in handy. -

62Lincoln replied to kc1174's topic in Accessories & Modifications
How difficult did you find the removal/reinstall of the headlights to be? I haven't tried it myself yet, but will soon. I read some earlier posts here that seemed to indicate that it was not necessarily a simple process. Any hints that might help me? Thanks for sharing this mod, very interesting and cool, too! :) -

The linked article seems to be written by someone who really doesn't know much about the auto industry. Consequently, their conclusions are incorrect. It's entirely possible for Ford to build a dedicated hybrid model on the C2 chassis, while that chassis can separately underpin the Escape and Focus. In fact, that's exactly what Ford is doing with the current Escape, Focus, and yes, C-Max. All of them are build on variants of the same chassis architecture. It sounds like Ford has decided to address the Prius head on. Good. The C-Max won't be going anywhere - it is sold in sufficient numbers in Europe in gas and diesel versions to support its ongoing development. We simply won't see a Hybrid and PEH model in the U.S.. The most exciting part of this news is that this new model will most likely have a more purpose built chassis that better packages the battery. That alone (especially for this Energi owner) will be a great improvement.

How can you tell it looks hideous? It has too much camo front and rear to tell what it looks like. I will say that if this is the 2015, it's a very mild refresh, given the light camo on the changed front and rear clips.

I'll let the OP speak for himself, but if you look at the site to which he linked, it appears that one could buy this product for protection or cosmetics. They mention UV protection specifically, and the list of materials is interesting: Carpet, Velour, DashSuede, DashTech, Camo I would be nervous about the camo option, I'd be concerned I might not be able to locate the dash when I got in the car. :)

Great post OP, thank you for sharing your impressions of the 2014.

Maxus has 2014 Rear Window Air Deflector
62Lincoln replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I just came off a road trip in my '13 which included some wet roads just after the rain had fallen. In that situation, the road spray in the rear noticeably covered the rear window as if it were being pulled there (by the air flow). Not sure what that proves, but I was surprised at how quickly the rear window blocked up. -

Random thought: is it possible that the rear tire deflectors are the same part numbers as the front tire deflectors? I haven't seen a 2014 in person, for those of you that have, could this be the solution? -
The Focus ST wheels in your first photo are 18's, so keep in mind that you'll also have to buy new tires to go with the wheels. I like the idea of new wheels, too, but I would be most likely to with some type of forged wheel for the weight savings. Forged = $$$, so that's been holding me back.

Okay, just want to make certain I'm following (correctly) what we now know: we have part numbers for the front deflectors, courtesy of Paul. Do we have part numbers for the rear deflectors? And so far, still no word on the 'deflectors' that are on the sides of the rear hatch glass. Is this correct? -
All the tisk tiskers seemed to want to make the C-Max mpg issue about Ford and the domestics. Well what do you know - saintly Honda has the same issue: Full article here: http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2014/05/consumer-reports-blasts-honda-accord-hybrid-mpg-claim/

Custom C-Max Headlights

Careful. Prices start at $275. I would not assume that to be the cost for the C-Max headlights. -

62Lincoln replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Agree, you should stick with a spoiler made for the C-Max. As we've found with the aero side pieces for the rear window, even the pieces made for the Escape, which at first glance would appear to be a match, aren't close to being a proper fit. -

I had the same experience with my local dealer - the Ford database did not show any part numbers. I asked one of our Ford contacts in the other section for help, but they really had nothing to add. I'm really interested in these improvements (including the hood gasket) but for whatever reason, Ford seems to be guarding the info as though it were a state secret.
