My mistake. I thought I asked about rebates going forward but I did ask in the post about past history as well. Sorry about that.

Hi everyone The cmax has a $1000 rebate plus another $1500 rebate if you go with Ford Credit. So $2500 off. Just wondering what kind of rebates others have seen over the past years? Were they better before or is this as good as it gets? Thx

How many miles on your car? problems?
scottwood2 replied to scottwood2's topic in General Discussion
I thought the MFT with the 8" screen had Sony audio? I know the standard system with the 4" screen was not. So the head unit for the 9 speaker upgrade is different from the MFT used in the standard 8" screen? -
How many miles on your car? problems?
scottwood2 replied to scottwood2's topic in General Discussion
I noticed over the years in my Chevy trucks that the standard stereo kept getting worse with each new model I bought. The stereo in my 2008 is just OK. My thinking is that the OEM's are doing this to get more buyers to want to upgrade to the optional unit. I was concerned with the C-Max standard stereo unit but was delighted at the quality of the MFT. -
Hi Xym Just wondering what kind of FE did you get last winter? I would think your winters are about the same as Detroit. I drive about 8 miles one way to work. How long does it take to heat up the ICE? My car now takes about 1.5 miles before I get heat. Is the C-max about the same? Looking at buying but don'e have one yet. Thx

Good point. I guess that different areas of the country are different in regards to snow. We generally don't use tire chains here. Now if I was in an area that required tire chains then I think I would also go the SUV route. I am surprised to hear that people have a Prius for these conditions as well. We are somewhat flat here in Michigan, at least the lower part of the state. Just small hills.

Nice post but I am a little unsure about your statement saying the C-Max is not designed for snow? I would agree that you will get better FE in warm weather and city driving but I would think this car is designed to work in all kinds of weather. Sure a 4 wheel drive Escape would be better in the snow but it's FE will also be lower driving in snow. I do not own a C-max yet but I live in Detroit I don't think this car will have any issues with the snow. It is a heavy car and the torque of the electric motor would be perfect for snow. I have many times started out in higher gears just so I could get more torque and less spin. I see a lot of Prius's here too that would be similar, in fact my Sister has a Prius up north in Michigan and loves it. I have drove my xB through all kinds of snow and 95% of the time I have never had an issue with getting through to make it to work. I do think the winters in the twin cities are worst than here so that is an additional factor there. 4 wheel drive is better in the snow for sure but it does come at a cost. You have to find what works for you. Many people here have 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive but many do not. I remember going to Montreal some time ago and I was surprised how many small front wheel drive cars were there are on the hilly snowy roads there. The cost of fuel is high there so smaller, high FE, cars are everywhere. Again I don't own this car yet but I hope to be a C-Max owner soon. I did look at the Escape and I like it too. i see them everywhere here. For me the high FE and the fun of driving the C-Max outweighs the few months of snow we get here. To me the complexity of having 4 wheel drive, extra cost and reduced MPG all year for having the extra weight does not justify owning one (vs 2 wheel drive). Another way to look at it, the worst FE with the C-Max during winter driving will still be better than the best FE in an Escape. But again a 4 wheel drive will be a better snow driving machine. Good luck on your decision.

Congrats and welcome. I also come from a mechanical background and I think that is part of what I like in this car. Driving it is a lot of fun although my drives have been limited to test drives so far. Getting one overnight on Monday to try. Looking forward to getting behind the wheel of one again. I also am looking at the SE. Have fun with it.
-
That sucks, I hope they find a fix for this soon. I see you have the SE. What other options do you have on this? Do you have the 8" center display? thx
-
Congrats! I am still looking but getting close to joining the C-max family. With this forum I feel kind of like I did when I bought the Scion xB back in 2005. it was a cool different car that I felt very proud to drive. I still look for other xB's on the road and some will still wave at you. The love for this car seems very much the same to me. I hope to do a overnight test drive very soon, maybe even today. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of one again. Have fun and keep us posted of what you think of it.

Well said. It is very hard to tell with numbers not tied to the percentage of the population of c-max's. I do think it would be helpful if the model and option packages were posted for each member here. Some list model but I don't see option packages.

Has anyone seen anything about 2013 C-Max Battery Issues?
scottwood2 replied to Tracy Lichlyter Nonell's topic in Batteries
Just wondering if you are saying that the models with a key have more problems than the push button start or are you just using that to state a difference between the SE and SEL models? I am looking at the SE model but have not seen anything tied to the key ignition switch. Maybe I missed something? From what I could see it see more likely that SE models with the standard 4" sync system seem to have more issues. Add the MFT and the number of problems goes way down, even lower than a bunch of the SEL models. Now this is purely votes and not percentage of owners. So does that mean there are less SE models with the 202A or 203A package? Hard to tell. -
Road salt badly collected into engine compartment
scottwood2 replied to mxanotcar's topic in Body Panels, Trim, etc.
Another option to cleaning is just using a rag and Fantastic spray. I have done this many times on my cars and it works great. Sometimes I will use a small paint brush to get into some areas. It might not be as good as a good wash but it works pretty well. I have also done this and rinsed it off very lightly. I have also applied a light coat of oil to rusting brackets, bolts etc. Pretty much stops the rust from growing and makes it look much better too.- 15 replies

Saw these photos with new front and rear that they think will be coming on the 2015 model. Do we think this is true? When do they release the 2015 model? Build is slated for starting mid September I heard. What happened to the resale value?!!
scottwood2 replied to Gustavo Monge's topic in General Discussion
I have seen a few C-max's listed via private sellers over the past 6 months. They were both asking around $23k. I think they were SEL's. I just looked on Carmax and they have a bunch. The SE's are going for $19k to $20k and some higher. I can get a new SE for $21K, and with some options for $22k after rebate ($26k sticker). Not sure why i would buy used but at least the asking price seem pretty good from a sellers standpoint. Now how many they sell at that price is another matter. -
Very good video. I just found this website that has links to a lot of videos including a few at the top of the list that are very very good. A lot of details and driving tests. http://cmaxchat.com/?cat=6

Hi Everyone The C-max is getting ready to start building 2015's. Just wondering how many miles others have on their C-max and how problem free they have been. Thx

Rebate offers - how good is good?
scottwood2 replied to scottwood2's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Thx for the post. The competitive lease option also does not work for me but the others do. I guess I am hoping that something more will come along that I do qualify for. How about something for just switching to a ford. Scion and Chevy in my driveway now. Ford are you listening? I don't like seeing all these little special rebates to only a few and Ford seems to have a lot of them. -
Rebate offers - how good is good?
scottwood2 replied to scottwood2's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I found that there are other rebates listed on Motortrend online. One was a $500 rebate for suppliers. I checked with my dealer and he sent me a list of which suppliers get this $500 rebate as well as a target list of companies getting the $750 coupon. Looks like none of this is going to work for me. I guess I will wait and see what happens in September. -

Good Idea. I never asked for a mailed brochure, I only downloaded one. Worth a try. Thx -

Yes there is a vet rebate but I am not one. Thx for the tip. Someone posted in the forum that they received an offer in the mail for $750 off. I wonder how they got on that list? Looking at the list of cars with my options/color I could only find 1 car that would work. I guess I will wait and see what the next round of rebate offers Ford has in September. The current offers end Sept 2nd. I might have to wait for next years model unless Ford comes up with something good quickly. -
Hi everyone. Just wonder what others thought of the current rebate that Ford is offering on the C-Max and what we think might happen in the future? Sales have been way down for the C-max but they are starting to rebound. Do we think that rebates in September will get better. What has been the history of rebates for this vehicle? I tried to find some history but could not find much. Thx
-
Thx for all the info. I did not know that option was there. I found many that would work and saves about $2k over the SEL. an SE with 202A and the winter package and I think I would be good. We might also consider the SEL if the dealer makes us a good deal. Going to look and compare the SE and SEL tonight. So I would guess that better rebates might be coming next month with the 2015 builds starting? Thx to everyone else that responded too! This is a great forum.

Hi everyone Trying to find an SE with MFT is not easy. I think most just go to the SEL package instead. I like cloth seats and did not want leather but that is not an option on an SEL. Anyone want cloth seat but decided to go the leather route? Are you happy with leather or would you rather still have cloth? I have never had a car with leather but in hot weather I would think they are hot and sticky. Thoughts? Thx

Do you know who owns this car?

Thx for the replies. I used Google to try to find it but did not look in the gallery here. I guess I should have. Thx for the tips too
