  1. So you still have the car and if so have the problems been taken care of?
  2. Congrats, We test drove one with that package at Avis Ford. What dealer did you purchase this from? Are you from the Detroit area?
  3. Let us know how it goes. $19K Seems kind of low to me but then again these are just sitting there and 2015 production is just days away. You should also have a new round of rebates starting up too.
  4. That is pretty awesome. I drive a stick now and love it. It they offered that option here I might be interested in it.
  5. I don't think size is an issue here. I have towed with a Escort before and it was rated at 1000 lbs. I would guess it is the drivetrain. Other concerns would be voiding your warranty and liability if anything were to happen while towing.
  6. Hi That seems really different. How does power get back to the taillights? Or are you referring to a oem built-in trailer plug?
  7. So we have 3 options for head units then on these cars. 1) Standard radio with 4.3" screen on the SE (6 speakers) 2) MFT system as an option on the SE and standard on the SEL (6 speakers) 3) MFT system with the Sony radio/upgraded sound system (9 speakers) I think the 6 speaker system is the same for options 1 and 2 above. I don't know if the 9 speaker system is all different speakers or is it just 3 additional speaker? In my test drives with the car I noticed a big difference in the audio quality between options 1 and 2. I have not heard option 3.
  8. That is interesting. Your mileage was about the same with the gas version? What kind of mileage did you get? I am also not sure why they don't offer other engine options here? Also interesting that people like the car or hate the car just like here. But then again other forums like the Volt forum had the same thing. My Scion forum had this a little but I think there were a more lovers than haters there.
  9. I find this interesting. It is a lot of work so thx for doing this and posting. Maybe temperature and total route time could help with seeing the swings in data? I know around here traffic on Fridays seems heavier and takes longer. I look forward to seeing your results with your mods.
  10. This tech is cool and it would make sense to me for a plug in. I am having a hard time understanding this for a standard hybrid. is there a loss in SOC for the vehicle just sitting there where you want the charge to be low? Maybe I could see this helping in the colder months where the ICE has to warm up anyway so it can charge the battery while warming up. Is there something else I am missing? Thx
  11. Congrats on your purchase. I am looking at the same thing in black but also want the winter package.
  12. Hi all Below is a post I saw in the "does it ever get fixed" post. I thought this was excellent and got me thinking about this problem and Ford's help. I think it is great that Ford is on here offering to help out with these problems. Until I saw this post I had no idea there was 3 areas for help from Ford. I know this is a serious problem and the owners want the car fixed and I am sure Ford does as well. So why doesn't Ford take advantage of this and offer help right up front in this forum? If this is posted somewhere I have not seen it. I just see posts from Ashley offering to help here and there. Ford stepping up to the plate would be great advertising saying that we are here to help and get issues taken care of. Also maybe tell us the stories of what Ford is doing to help these people? Are they offering free loaner cars etc. There are many people on here looking to buy (including myself) and knowing that Ford is not going to leave them stranded might make for a few more car sales. As it was said below it is a very small percentage of cars with this issue. I know some have not purchased this car because of the issue and past quality. Someone posted that the number of issues in the first 90 days of ownership improved greatly from 2013 to 2014 and is now better than average. It is great hearing this but having Ford tell us what they are doing would be even better. There are also a lot of smart devoted people on here as well. I am sure some would not mind having testing equipment on their car if it would help in finding the problem. Working together is always a win win situation. Again thx Ford for listening here but maybe doing a little talking too about issues would be greatly appreciated as well. Oh and a special thx to kostby for the excellent post. You should be a Ford rep.
  13. Again it is hard to tell the numbers but most of the issues with SE's are with the standard radio according to the poll. Numbers are much lower for the 202A and 203A packages but then again how many people buy an SE with these upgrade package?
  14. Good to know. I guess I thought that the charging system on the car would take care of all this. I have heard that the desulfate mode is good to do once in a while. Thx again for your reply.
  15. Thx for the reply. So I would guess that when you hook up the charger you are seeing a SOC lower than 100% before charging? Do you see this on your other cars too? Thx again.
  16. Hi Drdiesel1 I have seen your posts regarding charging the battery before and this seems like a good charger. I can see doing this on a dead or low battery but for normal operation wouldn't the DC-DC charging system on the C-max take care of this on its own if it is operating properly? Maybe I am missing something here with this setup? Thx
  17. Thx. I did try that and yes it did show that there were 4 service records for this used car but it does not state what they are. I have not used CarFax before but I hear that it does not give you a lot of details. Only giving you limited info on why it was in for service once you pay for the info. I think the Ford records would give me the info I need but I think I am going to hold off on buying this used 2013. I think I would rather have a 2014 or maybe wait for the 2015. Thx again
  18. I too am concerned with this issue. I was curious and went over to the Chevy Volt forum which has the best rating of any car for customer satisfaction and they too had a number of issues listed including 12V battery issues. The cars today are much better than they were in the past but there are still issues.
  19. Hi everyone I thought I saw a post here stating that Ford had a website you that you could look up service history based on a VIN? I looked but could not find it. Looking at a used car and want to know about past issues. Thx
  20. 10% off MSRP is much better than I see in my area. About double and way below invoice. Is this standard for Apple or is this something special for dealer stock? I did find out as you said that the rebates are tied to where you live and title the car. Rebates are better there as well.
  21. I can see this for sure. The C-max sales are not that great but they did pretty well at first and then received bad press for the FE and now dependability. A run of 5 years for a car is fairly normal. On to the next generation of the hybrids. Sales are kind of slow for many OEM's for hybrids, except Toyota, but they are building. As the cost comes down, sales go up. A few of my co-workers are buying cars now and most say it is too costly for the C-max. One said he can get a Fusion, a bigger car for $17K. Ford had the Escape Hybrid before and it could come back. Also designing a hybrid car from the ground up is what car manufactures do for a serious hybrid model. I like the C-max but it was not designed for high FE with its shape. Looks like Ford will have a serious hybrid model as well as other car lines with hybrid options. Enjoy the C-Max while it is here. Many ICE cars have a limited life span too. My Scion xB was a very popular car and the 1st gen was sold for less than 4 years. The replacement was a dud in sales and many 1st gen owners, including myself, hated it.
  22. No VIN, only asked for a price based on options and color. He said they found the exact car. I guess I should have got the VIN too. I also did not push the issue since I was not ready to buy just yet anyway. They had one sales guy for online sales and they hand you off to someone else when you come into the showroom. Not sure if this is standard or not?
  23. Had a C-max car for an overnight test drive and I really liked it. I was able to get 60 MPG for part of it and avg 51 MPG overall with about 20% freeway (thx to many here on this site for how to drive it). And that was will the a/c on the whole time. I even punched the gas to make a changing light and my other half was shocked at the power (said it was a little scary). A little exciting to me :) I maybe close to buying but with it so close to the end of the model year I am looking to get the price down a little more. Also just heard that the new Chevy Volt will be announced in Jan and there is a lot of talk about a $30K model. It is a new design car as well. I am just so so on the looks of the current model. I don't think the new one will be like the C-max and I like the taller feel of the C-max. So still a little on sure on what to do but the right price and I maybe ready.
  24. Good tips here, thx. Totally agree with getting the full breakdown of the price and make sure you get a full list of options too. I did have a breakdown on price via emails but when I when in to the dealer the price was higher. He said they must have looked up the wrong car. One question, you stated that a good place to start is invoice price. Say you get 3 dealerships that say they will do invoice. What would you suggest you do then? Thx again
