  1. I've had that sloooow leak as well - its off to Western Tires for me. They also do my Jags as well...great company, I have no quams shilling and shouting for this family owned biz...but yeah, I would be p*ssed as well. That incident with Mammoth really got me into thinking I am soooo screwed with no spare tire....we don't even have room for it since we pack Maxine to the hilt....poor girl.

  2. ...did they do the wheel test in a water tank? that woud show bubbles...for some "well, you're Captain Obvious" - erh no, some tire places use the bottle spray method. They spray the tire and try and spot the bubbles. The tire place, Western Tires Burbank,  that my family use they use a water tank. The spray method is not that effective in difficult leaks - case in point, Maxine had a slow leak at Mammoth. 285 miles from home. Took it to a big tire dealer there, could not find it after 2 hrs. Left the car for 1 hr, no drop in psi. Drove it back to LA and it dropped some PSI midway home. Took it to Westen Tires in Burbank, they dropped it into the tank and -wallah- small leak was due to a shard of glass.

    Jus my 2c.

  3. Did you get & do the front deflectors too Paul? Also, what was the cost of the parts for rear ones again? (I think it was $35 for the front ones total yeah?)

Jus recap the parts & price for the readers...please :)

Great job dude, thanks for the explanation...but as this thread is 6 pages long and you own the thread _ I might suggest you update your Post #1 for easier access and then I'll PIN this thread to the top of the forum section.

  4. Key here is the word hybrid.  Purchased carefully, they have proven to be good 'investments' thanks to Toyota, Ford & Honda.  That means low upkeep and long life.  Buying for the short term  :spend: only passes value on to the second owner - hmmmm, OK, a rather benevolent gesture if so intended. :)

And we all know who has the best hybrid package out there over the last two three years - with space, speed, safety, ride, range, drivability ........... (& it is beautiful too!)..................the C-Max Hybrid and the C-Max Energi by far !!!

    Nick

(Yes indeed, some great prices out there right now on a brilliant car)

...does this mean I should stop pining for the :detective: 2015 Prii aka CMax killer  :sandman:

  5. I have seen my gas fillup being less than what was reported in Maxine - rare, I think no more than a handful in the life of Maxine. Yeah, usually its more (anywhere betweem 0.25 to about 0.50 more for me). I don't think I ever had a gallon difference but I don't top up as often unless I know I am going for a long distance tank run. Well, I top up to the nearest quarter dollar jus because of the wifey...

  6. The trick is NOT to run out of gas when pulling these big tank miles - not an easy task as you really have to know where you're at, how much gas you are using and traffic conditions permitting it or not. I've only ran out of gas twice and I pull big tank miles all the time driving city. I've not updated my fuelly in a long while otherwise you'll see 800+ after 800+ tanks - without running out of gas. Even my 901 mile tank I did not run out of gas...

Its different for NRG drivers, they jus hook it up but I know NRG drivers who do 2000+ miles on a single gas of tank - nice. Give me an NRG and I can probably do my a great portion of my city driving from San Fernando to Woodland Hills and back nicely in EV. I do 82-90 MPGs jus driving from home to work easily, using 0.22 to 0.25 of gas over 20 miles.

...which is why I wish Ford had given us a means to charge our mere hybrids like the NRGs - that would have been nice and really improve MPGs even if its short EVing. It all helps, imho, but alas.

  7. Jus I didn't realize you are only put on the list once, thats why I said add my latest tank.  Sorry my mistake.  Just as well this wasn't as good as my first 600+

Yeah, if I allowed every tank everyone puts in - Post #1 would be huge. So jus give me your MAX tank and I'll see. If you beat your Post #1 tank, you go up the ranks and get a better seat. Make it to the 700 Bar, 800 Bar and 900 Bar - each with less members...not easy to do for most CMax drivers.

  8. Game Over guys Maxus ran out of gas 2 blocks from my house.  This time was unlike the first time I ran out.  This time the triangle of death came up and the screen said pull over when safe, I had half a full charge battery and as I gave some pedal to make my turn off the road I was traveling there was little power and the steering became difficult almost as if I had no power.  But the battery gauge showed plenty to run on.  This is very different from the first time I ran out.  Well as the picture shows I just made 600miles so I now have 2, 600 mile tanks.  Add me to the honor roll list. :happy feet: :camera: :yahoo:

tn_gallery_177_18_173846.jpg    I also put it in my gallery if this is too small to see?

You are already in the 600+ Miles CMax Club with the killer 651.5 mile tank on 09/24/13. :congrats:  on your second tank

  9. I left my EV+ on for work and home. For home, I have a hill to climb so its no big deal if I sipphon out the SOC in EV+, better than burning gas to climb my hill. In the morning, I start with 1/3 SOC and go to 2/3 SOC by the time I reach the main road - thats using the hill to double charge with braking and ICE warming up.

Call it as you see it, theres no right or wrong since each of us have different driving conditions and terrains.

  10. paul, we should point the young grasshoppers to the FAQ.... ;)

spl - many of us have done more than 600+ miles a tank on regular basis without blinking an eye and we have over 40K+ on our odos. I think Paul and Matt has the highest odos here. You don't have to run out of gas, its all about knowing the strengths of the CMax, managing your MPG and traffic/terrain/gas situational awareness.  :victory:

mtb - go for it, lets us know how you do  :)

  11. Trade up is a s*cker loss, private party sale but you have to work it a wee bit more. New cars, 99.9% as soon as it leaves the show room, you automatically lose money. Cars are not money keepers unless you buy a classic and NEVER drive it, or do the granny thing with around the block.

Also, unless you know you overpaid for the car in the 1st place, I would not be concerned over loss of value. One car crash will ding it more and in this City of Angels, there are lunatics here and hence we pay more for insurance. If you want better replacement value for total write off, go sign up with Liberty. In life you pay for everything, hence their rate - I suspect - will be higher than most insurance companies.

Enjoy the CMax for what it is. Notch up another 700+ mile tank with with 1/3 tank used for freeway, gotta  :flirt:  tahat  ;)

  12. Saw this a few weeks ago...at Roger Dunn, in North Hollywood. The place was empty when I got there in the morning so I parked in the middle - went in there to get some golf sh*t and came out, there was an twin: SEL White Platinum...well, not quite true...no Gas Pods and no front grill cover.

Now, will the owner fess up...assuming he/she lurks here... ;)

    Enjoy! :)

  13. Thanks Rebecca for all the help to our members, its much appreciated by everyone. Have a safe and great Thanksgiving, time with family. Don't do anything Jus wouldn't do...you're safe, i'm jus a tee-tottling, 5 mph under the speedlimit, no walking on side walks, no tight rope walking, or leaping off 100 foot cliffs on snowboard type-o-person  :drop:

  14. stevedebi, can't miss me - only White Platinum with ScamGasPods at the back and the grill cover. I'm gonna get a "901.0" sticker one day... ;)

I was riding next to a Sterling Gray Energi bu recalled, you were in an Ice Storm. This was going north on Coldwater Canyon, just north of Victory to Roscoe. Lots-o-CMaxs now....yah, not the only one in the City of Priii :baby:

  15. Don't ask me why, but Ford changed the C-MAX to no longer include lifetime numbers. It either happened for end of the 2013 or, certainly, by the time of the 2014.

Agree - stupid move by Ford. They seem to be good at getting rid of stuff but NOT enhancing the other parts of the software like the MFT. I guess its easier to delete/disable code than to build. Sad.
