  1. I'm gonna laugh like heck at you guys when you run your gas tank down to E and go those "extra" miles to get to the "magic mileage club" and then think you can get gas at some station just as Mother Nature does a number on you:  Earthquake, lightning strike, tornado, or some disaster comes along and you cannot fill up at a station because the power is out to fill up your empty baby, and you don't have enough to get home or ANYWHERE because it affects pumping over a wide area, AND/OR an earthquake hits and destroys bridges between you and wherever you need to go, so you have to take ALTERNATE routes to get to where you need to go, which will take longer.  So, fellow Hybrid babies, just WHAT is your alternate plan?

Drop the attitude ger, there is no need for it. You'll find members here answering your questions if they were nicer otherwise you'll make their IGNORE list and get nowhere with your questions.

Now...to answer your question, I carry a spare and at my rate I can run 60 miles on this gallon and I have NOT run out of gas for sometime now, even at my 901 mile one. I also carry supplies in the car lest the ground shake, this is LA. Plus in reality, no one will be going fast especially after the big one hits, not with the potentially collapsed bridges, cracked roads etc.
  2. thats ok, you go with what you think its best. I have ZERO reservations about picking another SEL, but right now I don't need to - the new models give me no improvements especially compared to a well broken-in & driven Maxine. She blowing the EPA MPGs out of the water and zero issues. 37,000 miles on it already - can't be happier and she does great with the luggage space and all - a perfect vehicle for camping, and soon - to go to the snow with high MPGs.

I just got back from camping this weekend and she did 51.3 MPG climbing over a pass to the camp ground and she did 47MPG coming back with full AC on (got to keep the wifey happy). Both legs were full loaded and I mean to the roof with camping crap...48MPGs overall for 200 miles total 70% freeway, 30% highway - no city. Not too shabby...but could have scored much better if not for the AC. And the Pass.

  3. They also don't think about hybrids on mountains either. Toasted a Prius climbing over a pass uphill to go camping. I was 57 mpg freeway until the pass and I dropped to 49 and finished at my destination at 51.2 mpg. Fully loaded with wifey. Gotta :wub2: Maxine. Erh, what was that EPA MPG for Freeway again? !?!? :victory:

  4. SEL for sure. There is nothing much to look out for in the CMax but the usual suspects in ANY car - listen for creeking, extraneous noise when driving, steering straight, solid sound in when the door is closed, The CMax is very quiet so there should be no noise. Now, AC on the other hand, expect to hear a machine gun - it's a slightly annoying issue. You won't hear it with the windows up because of the anti-noise but put down that front passenger window and you get to experience the Western Front with Kaiser... ;)

  5. Congratulations HannahWCU!! Fine effort there. Now are these miles city/freeway?

I think if a new owner comes here- this is more proof that the CMax is a very capable car to get beyond the EPA and certainly above the Toaster Review.org 38MPG. The fact that its over such long miles makes it harder to refute and deny the MPGs-capability of the CMax.

    Well done

  6. Thank you Kostby, your act is most appreciated    As you can see, I did use it in my art work but declined the 900 for the reason, we're all in the same club...no matter if you do 600, 601, 700, 800 or even a 1,000 in the future.

@ChuckJr - glad to see your new badge. Now, you do realize that you will NEVER, EVER get a job as a Toaster Reviewer in Consumer Reports. Remember, their drivers, who possess great driving skills, with a set route and the FACT that they BOUGHT their own CMax managed 38MPGs and you totally shattered that MPG record. Shame, shame, shame.... ;)

...oh, you also got 48 MPG, more than the ORIGINAL Ford EPA rating of 47 that many, even here....CONDEMNED as fraud, deceitful and what-have-you...you better return your Ford checks too, that is more SHAME money.

ps well done :) ...now go for the 700 Bar.

  7. Bro Jus may be right... this forum SHOULD be a good place for gathering interested folks. Bro PJ has a good point that was true on the West Coast - all talk, no action. Texans call that "all hat, no cattle" . Let us know how meetup.com works. I'm going to revise the proposal for next year's Spring/Summer times & hand it off to Athens Ford. Let's see if they're willing to spearhead this effort. After reading Ford's email, I'm inclined to let them organize this at Ford's HQ level if they want to sell more C-Max cars. Otherwise, let's just enjoy the friendship found on this forum & whoever can, meet up next summer. Hugs ~ Moms/Eve

..where's the beef? Over here, especially in Hollywood or have friends who live there...if something else better comes along, they will go to that instead of your appointment. Which is why most businesses here will insist on confirmation before your appointment. LA fickleness...but they do LUV their Prii here as well....correlation... ;)

I went to Meetup.com and they want $72 for 6 months to start a Club, they didn't have any suitable Clubs for our CMAX.  I'm not to excited about wasting money on having my own Club of one, It would be different if we already had a club. I will hold next Sat. OCT.18th open for a meetup starting at Mike Fitzpatrick FORD if anyone is interested. :)

    Paul

Jus a suggestion....start a thread specific to Fitzpatrick Ford is you want to get out the word. Burying it in this thread does not help.

  8. To set the story straight it was Dec 5, 2012 when I got my first 608mi tank, didn't get my CMAX until Oct. 2012. LOL   Also it was a year ago when I made my first actual 909mi tank that I thought it would be possible to get a thousand mile tank, but haven't done it yet. I was hoping to do it averaging 40mph, but doesn't look like that is going to happen. :drop:

    Paul

lol, edited, neither of us owned the car in Jan 2012.... but...wait...the 600 thread was started in 1/23/2013, I did not see any postings to indicate you popped the 600 in Dec 2012. If you have the pic, post it up and lay claim to the 1st person to summit the 600 bar. I see your 616 on 2/11/13 as posted in the 600. i thought i saw your thread but I did not find it...lemme know...

ps also corrected, you said 700 and not 800...800 was still in a far away dim light star to reach for  ;)

  9. Thanks Paul. You and Doug were up there in those lofty heights for a long time. Jus telling the world - YEAH - the CMax is capable of more than 800+ miles on a single tank...jus a breath away....that's like smelling...

...from K2 while sitting on top of Everest  ;)

And to think of the time, when we both broke the 600 in Jan 2013 and you were saying 700 is possible. Now, I am thinking, 1000 is possible. (edit ptjones may have broken the 600 in Dec 2012).

Now, in regards to fumes, you could be right but I dunno...I tanked the car > 14 gallons or something ridiculous for this. Before this, I was doing low-mid 800s and broke the 840 and then 850 and I was going to try and break 860 on this one and THEN all indicators was showing this was going to be 920 tank...according to the Estimated Miles to Empty at the 700 mile mark. I showed Nick that, it was ridiculous...only a mere tweak on the route home (little longer miles, less traffic and up & down).

And given fill up afterward this 901 tank, I still had some left there. I think...it doesn't matter, mission was to break the 900 and that's it and I didn't feel like running out of gas for this...

Now, lets talk about the 1000 - very possible but again, not on a daily drive with the engine on/off. U need to minimize that and find a good flowing traffic and use the terrain. Its a full fledge loop run.... :)

  10. :redcard:  Hey, not that nasty map, it's just not fair; we're getting hosed out here and up there !!!

Ahhh, that's alright, we have an MPG machine at < 8 cents a mile, our C-Max.  :sing_rain:  !

    ((Filled up the work rig today - 900 800 700 600 500 400 300 282 miles, 20.57 gallons (eeeeeouch), $76.72 :kookie: 27 cents a mile - still a fair amount less than a couple months ago; I'm not complaining))

Ouch...thats about how much my wife pays to tank up myher Jag, that has a 22 gallon tank.

Been hooning since this big tank and its still up there at the moment with 61.5 MPG but this is a wasted tank because Maxine is scheduled to go to Galpin Ford for the recall servicing and I know they'll blow some MPGs with their post installation testing. And then its camping...

...but I do SAVOR the 0.05 pennies per mile, or $1.10 to drive to work...who needs public transport with stinky seats, germful handle bars, and obligatory sneezing & coughing into your face...never ;)
