  1. My engine coolant was low, sent to dealer twice and they filled up. They also pressure tested and saying there was no leak. But it kept going below the min level. I don't know why, and dealer don't know why either. It might worth just get a jar of coolant from Ford dealer and add it periodically at home.
  2. I checked with Royal Purple oil manufacture. They recommend still using 5W20 for C-MAX 2013, and told me that the FE gain by using 0W20 will not be noticeable. So I will keep using 5W20 fully synth oil.

  4. Anyone can post pictures for the drain hole and fill hole? Although it sounds wasting money, from my past experience with other brand cars, that money is well worth, not because the fluid gone bad, rather there are micro metal particles in the fluid after running 10-20k miles.
  5. Since I put this little solar charger on, it seems to me the inverter that charging 12V battery started much less frequently.
  6. After some reading, I think I will stick with MERCON LV fluid. Do you know how many quarts C-MAX taking? I also appreciate if someone can post a picture showing where is the drain.
  7. I have a Toyota van that not driving almost all year. I purchased a solar charger from VW dealer, which is a 5W solar panel with a diode, plug that into the OBD connector. I have that for two years and have no problem with the battery. I can start the car instantly even parked few months. Go check that eBay item # 281241947553 Actually, if car dealers have their car on their parking lot charged with this kind of charger, I think it is safe. For 5W solar panel behind glass, that is probably only producing 3W power. And that is like 300mA. Even 5W full power, that is less than 500mA current. I don't think that will kill the battery, considering C-MAX power is not really disconnected from battery even in totally parked key removed. Battery could die early for never fully charged, which I suspect is the main cause for most battery problems reported on this forum.
  8. Good to chat with you to know that, Amazon web site had wrong information saying that Royal Purple MAX ATF is good for Mercon LV. Do you have any full synthetic transmission fluid to recommend for C-MAX? What do you think Red Line Oil D6 ATF? Also, if you could show a picture where is the drain plug, that would help. Even using exactly MERCON type LV, I think it is better to replace the transmission fluid once for a while.
  9. Because any metal part will have tiny bits after running for a while, I always like to drain and refill the transmission fluid with best fully synthetic fluid like Royal purple synth MAX ATF after 10-20k miles with my other cars. Does Ford car has fluid drain plug? Thanks!
  10. I could not find anything regarding the transmission on C-MAX, does it need any maintenance at all?
  11. I just brought a 5W solar panel on eBay, like eBay item number 281152266458, it has a diode to block back flow current during night. With a cigarette plug, I just plug it in the rear 12V plug in the cargo area. Then place this panel at the rear side window by turn it slightly, the window frame catch the solar panel and stay there no problem. When I park my car, I pick a location let solar panel facing sun. I think that will make battery last longer.
  12. I noticed the 12V socket near the rear gate is always on. So I brought a 5W solar car charger and plugged into that. The 5W solar panel can be slide on the rear side glass above the cargo area. I hope this will not only keep battery fully charged, also reduce the frequency using EV batter charge the 12V battery. I have a van parked outside not driving most the year, a solar charger can keep its battery always full without any damage to the battery.

  14. I found it, under driver assist, but it never entered into it. I think if this hybrid has same motor and same engine as plug-in model, why the plug-in model can run up slope with electrical motor only, hybrid can only do it on very low speed?
  15. Although my average is 45.4 MPG, I never see EV+ on my panel. I checked setup, there is option for EV+ on under setting->driver assist. That is set to on. With both hybrid and plug-in same electrical motor, why does the plug-in can run without ICE on battery only, but hybrid even with battery almost full, it easily starts ICE. Plug-in tows 500 lbs heavy batteries than hybrid can have same rated MPG without charge.
  16. I have 16000 miles on my car, I never see EV+, I think that is only for cars with satellite receiver of some kind, maybe optional GPS. I saw so many times that I have plenty of battery, the car engine started. I am sure with Energi model, the engine will not kick in so often. With same motor and same engine, why Energi can run on batter alone, but hybrid can not even when its EV battery is almost full?
  17. It seems EV+ only has on Energi, not hybrid. This is hybrid forum, so that I was expecting people only talks about hybrid. This just showed Ford is NOT full heart to make best hybrid cars. With both Hybrid and Energi using same engine and SAME electrical motor, WHY hybrid is not allowed to enter EV+ mode? Maybe if they allow EV+ mode, hybrid will have better MPG than Energi model, so that Ford purposely limited hybrid performance.
  18. Very interesting, I am looking forward to this information also. Toyota does not push hard for their pure EV cars, so they try to make Prius has max MPG. I think Ford is trying to push their Energi hard, so it limit hybrid performance to lower. Otherwise, it can not explain why both Hybrid and Energi use same engine and electrical motor, but hybrid constantly jump into ICE, even the battery is pretty full.
  19. When A/C is on, if battery is low, engine will start idle.
  20. Would LED be a lot more affordable? Two 50W led bulb costs less than $80 on eBay. Just don't know if they fit on C-MAX hybrid

  22. Thanks for that information. From that, Mobile-1's 5W20 full syn oil is similar to Motorcraft 5W20 blend. What about Royal purple's oil, anybody tested that? I think they may have different additives.
  23. Just did old change with Mobile-1 full syn 5w20 oil. My last oil change was 5000 miles ago with same kind 5w20 oil. However, I feel like after oil change mpg is lower than before oil change. Is that because 5w20 oil is too thick when it is new?
  24. My average display is 45.3 avg MPG, after 16000 miles driving.
