  1. If there was a real bumper to attach them, Hella 500FFs would look great. Calipers look good. I'm still shocked at how clean the rims stay, compared to my old Audi (those looked like they'd been up a chimney).
  2. A little wipe down with laquer thinner will take anything off and doesn't leave a residue. How durable is this plasti-dip stuff when confronted with say, curb rash??
  3. I'd like to see the under-grill area recessed back and a bit lower, in other words, more like a chin spoiler. Other than that, a handsome car...
  4. Hi Paul, I asked that question about two weeks ago. Can't remember on what post but Salman responded that as far as he knew, all the failures have been in the a.m. after the car had been sitting overnight. Adrian
  5. I thought my A6 was a whale at 4250 pounds. Let's not forget these are mpg numbers from Mercedes. It may turn out that the car only gets 50 mpg and some bank in Dusseldorf will issue rebates in the amount of $5000 or $10000 to disgruntled owners who complain on the Mercedes hybrid forum ("schlechte Ware!!!), prompting a flurry of defensive remarks from other Mercedes hybrid owners who love their cars and the gas pedal that fights with them. Then one morning........Dr. Schultz in Berlin pushes his starter button and..........nothing!
  6. Any chance of indicating which drivers have ENERGI models on the list? It is a bit oranges to apples, otherwise
  7. Probably a good idea to indicate that you are the chap in the video, lest the members think it is a humorous "look what I found on the internet" type of video. There's a few schools of thought on how to achieve good mpgs with the C-max. I'm a huge fan of Eco cruise and letting the car do what Ford programmed it to do. My days of scrutinizing the Empower screen are over--and besides, I get better (47 city) mileage when I keep my eyes on the road.
  8. Reluctantly, I concur. But for me, it's a 1985 GMC Vandura camper. It's a canvas in progress compared to the signed, matted, and framed C-max. Passion? The C-max is a great, economical car. Love the SEL leather interior. Great to drive. But there isn't anything I can do to it!! Fog lights are already there. Accessories?! Woo hoo--floor mats and a trunk organizer! I can barely contain my enthusiasm! Tuning? Performance upgrades? You've got the wrong car, mate. When I had a VW bus, I loved VW shows, swap meets, all that stuff. But a C-max owners gathering?
  9. I just had my first service at the dealership. I had a free oil change included with some sort of Customer Rewards program when I bought the car at a different dealership. Turned out my new dealership was not part of this plan. I was pretty annoyed but wrote a respectful email to the Service Manager. One hour later I had a free oil/filter change included. I only paid $25 for tire rotation. I couldn't work up the energy to ask for 0W20 (Scuba, I think I read you weren't getting better mileage a month or two ago on a different thread) so I just let them put in 5W20 synthetic. But when I change the oil myself the second time I'll put in Mobil 0W20 full synthetic.
  10. Now here's a panic button that would have been useful... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3REoHshZvf4
  11. Do you have the remote start option on yours? To answer Bill's question the horn goes on and off until you push the panic button again. It is LOUD. For a more delicate "where is my car in the parking lot?", double click the lock button. The turn signals will flash and the horn will sound briefly. You don't want to give the old guy walking past your car a heart attack. I suspect the remote start option includes the module or relay that triggers the panic horn response. So simply adding a type 2 FOB might not work.
  12. The Fob has 5 buttons: Remote start ; door lock ; door unlock ; trunk unlock and panic. Everything works as it should. I'm assuming the panic button merely triggers the alarm circuit. Wait a minute....is there an alarm on this car?
  13. When we stayed at a hotel in Hawaii once there was a small metal box next to the suite door about the size of a pack of smokes. It had a combination lock and when opened, the hotel door key was inside. The hotel gave you the combination in an email in case you showed up when the front desk was closed. I have no idea where you buy these things (ebay? Amazon?) but it could be easily mounted under the vehicle. I lost a Volvo key while jogging once. It wasn't a happy day. Adrian
  14. I don't follow you. They simply could have put a bigger battery in the 2014 models without "replacing" anything.
  15. Very useful info (particularly the first highlighted text). There's no real evidence that a bigger battery would have prevented the overnight drain problem, and like DMK2000 wrote, it would be unlikely that Ford would have not considered this already.
  16. I think drafting is a great idea, provided the driver doesn't violate the 2 second rule. At 60 miles/hour, you cover 176 feet in two seconds, so that is the minimum safe distance behind a semi.
  17. Sorry, I thought you were referring to the FOB by the word "keypad". I would think that the keyless entry would render the door keypad unneccessary.
  18. I had no idea such add-ons were so popular. The automotive equivalent of an "anti-aging cream". Oh, the vanity of it all....
  19. Very interesting. It would appear that vehicles built after 6/3/2013 have had treatment to the wiring harness.
  20. Sorry that makes no sense. The dealer couldn't program your FOB and handed it to you saying "Best of luck! Google's a great resource"? You did say, 'new car' right? I think the trick is to march into the dealership manager's office.
  21. Bras on cars? I thought they went out with Trans Ams, sports jackets with rolled up sleeves and vans with plush carpet? Seriously though. This is a C-max, not a 911. Is it really worth the expense to save yourself a bit of work with a sponge and a bucket of detergent?
  22. Yes--sometimes the electric drive AND the ICE are both on--and charging the battery. I'm kind of on SnowStorm's side--I needed a nap after reading Rifleman's instructions (sorry, it sounded like a ton of work) but mainly I question the long term benefits over a 3 or 4 hour journey versus the magnificent ECO cruise.
  23. ENERGI FORUM QUESTION!!!! (Jus can we kill this thread? It doesn't relate to the Hybrid so irrelevant to most of us and besides--makes me envious :)
  24. They just discontinued Sterling Grey, FYI. I thought it looked great in the brochure but ended up buying a Tuxedo black from the lot. No regrets. (well only one---I'd have preferred the cash instead of the (useless to me) "remote start" feature but it was already on there)
