Is there is a way to find remaining capacity of Li-Ion battery
Adrian_L replied to dmk2000's topic in 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
Technically speaking........you don't want to run them empty (like in a rechargeable drill) and then leave them empty. But since the C-max's charging/discharging is very conservative you're probably fine. The Lithium/Ion batteries do not drain their charge like regular 12 volt lead batteries as Kostby pointed out. -
The black interior is actually not black. It's more of a medium/dark grey. I haven't found that the seats get particularly warm on sunny days.

"due to its age"? We're talking new 2013 models on a dealer lot, no? The only concern I would have would be that the 12v battery is fresh. But you should get a smoking hot deal on a 2013 and since it is almost identical to a '14, why pay more? When are the '15s coming out? I was going to say you'll have to wait a long time to find out what the '15 is like, but I guess we're not that far off.

Wait let me convert to Canadian......holy smokes 45 celcius? I remember that kind of heat from living in Cyprus 15 years ago. I didn't realize eyelids could sweat.

You need a car to drive one mile? What is that, 15 minutes by foot?

Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
Adrian_L replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I'd buy again in a hearbeat. Sure there's things that bug me---can I please have a "CD" or a "RADIO" button?!?---but almost everything else is first class. What I don't understand is how you can reject a whole company ("No more Ford products for me!") based on a few posts from disgruntled owners. I'm not a big fan of VW but it isn't because my brother-in-law's wife's sister had nightmares with hers. -
Audi A6 rims were filthy after a week or two and a real pain to wash. The C-max rims seem to be self cleaning! Wish I could say the same about the body but it is a small car to wash
-
Agreed. Don't "try" to keep yourself in the blue, especially when accelerating from a stop. You'll get better mpgs by letting the car do its own thing. Eco cruise helps a lot.

It's the only color...

I thought I changed it to get with the "241" but will try again when I have some time
-
Sure. Sad. I have tears rolling down my cheek every time I get a 60 mpg journey.

Funny. I'm still getting grief about accidentally kneeling on the Garmin a year ago in my van, while vacuuming. The plastic cracked and it was ruined. Or the time I left my sunglasses on the engine while changing the oil........now I have a "sculpture".

This is torture. Us Canadians will probably have to wait weeks or months.

Wnuk, check your VIN on ETIS.FORD.COM - you never know.......?
-
Brilliant! Thanks.

My apologies--I stand corrected. So you jump the car using the connections under the hood, but the battery is actually 12 feet away under the trunk? Wierd. So this is the battery that got replaced, Cowspotdog?
-
I just created an account on fuelly.com. How the heck do you imbed your fuelly info in the C-max forum??
-
Sorry amigo--I just looked it up in the owner's manual because I thought I was losing my mind. Page 260: (discussing jump starting your car): "Your vehicle has a 12 volt battery that has two prongs accessible from under the HOOD". You can see the red positive terminal cover in the upper right of the picture in the link, above the suspiciously battery-like black box.

I think the 12v starting battery is up front: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2012/08/lead6-2013-ford-c-max-hybrid-fd.jpg

Did they replace the big, high-voltage battery or the 12 volt starting battery?
-
You can plug in your VIN here: https://www.etis.ford.com/ 14B03 refers to the second rebate.

The fan may be thermostatically controlled. However the state of charge monitor should shut off power completely when a certain level is reached. This way you can't drain the starting battery by running the CD player without the engine being on or leaving the interior lights on. Of course in the old days, a little dome light would drain your battery completely.

Crikey. Well if there is a silver lining you'll have a brand new tranny and from what I gather the newer ones have slightly better gear ratios.

Got it. Important that the C-max has never killed anyone. I hadn't thought about that before.
