  1. Lift the hatch in the cargo area. Remove the rubber pad in the bottom. Remove the plastic panel under that. Here's how much of it is visible at that point: (I haven't looked into how many screws you'd have to take out after that.)
  2. Same here - I have yet to see a linear gas gauge. (And I wish my motorcycle had even a bad one - I have to use the trip odometer.)
  3. Just never buy the Winking Owl wine. :-P
  4. Looks like text from one of those link-farm sites where people get paid a few cents per hundred words to blog about current stuff that'll get picked up in search engines and bring people to the site full of drivel. The people who run those sites don't care what the text actually says, or if the sentences even make sense. I see the link no longer works - LOL.
  5. Wow - we had to go out and look at the car to see what the "little storage trays on the floor..." were. Then we stood around for a minute wondering what the heck would go there... Perfect answer - a furled mini-umbrella. Then it doesn't get anything else wet. As for the back-seat bins - smuggling compartments, obviously :-)
  6. LRR = Low Rolling-Resistance (tires)
  7. So the Canadian C-Max window sticker doesn't tout the equivalent of 47/47 MPG? I guess it wouldn't be the EPA of course... What do they list for highway?
  8. Hey, Plus 3 Golfer - Where'd you find a shop manual for a C-Max? On the Motorcraft site, the closest I've seen is for a Focus Electric.
  9. Hmm. On a trip maybe 5 miles out to dinner and back tonight, I got 51 and 46 MPG. Then I got home and logged the latest fill-up in Fuelly and got 31. Maybe it has to do with when our son drives, who says he never pays any attention to those gauges and just drives how he wants.
  10. Ah - I stand corrected - I should have googled this first. I thought the cabin noise cancellation was passive and the 3.5.1. improvement just had to do with noise cancelling microphones for hands-free calling. But it really does have active noise cancellation - what a cool feature. I'm surprised they don't list it on the sticker as a standard feature.
  11. I didn't think the C-Max had active noise cancellation, just some passive cancellation channeling or somesuch. But I'm curious to try out the tunes you suggested and see what I get. [Was there a particular track?]
  12. Some commands like "Climate 72 degrees" are special-case "global" commands where you don't need to say the category separately. Strangely enough, so are Sirius satellite channel names. I was trying to get it to read a phone text message, and it kept tuning the radio to "The Message" channel.
  13. Granted we don't put as many miles/yr on ours as some do, but... Going from our old car to the C-Max, if it only gets 40MPG, saves us $75/mo. If it got 47MPG, it would save us an extra $9/mo. No Big Deal! But then $9 would buy two more Guinnesses...
  14. Congrats Rachel! I hope it goes quickly for you from here on.
  15. Is this an add-on car alarm, or just the stock "perimeter alarm"? Maybe you have a door or the hatch not closing all the way?
  16. Mine shipped with 3.1.3. The current 3.5.1 release won't install on it because it says BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) need a different version. I called the customer-care line about 10 days ago and they said there is currently no newer version for a C-Max. I'm looking forward to the new version, with the energy-flow diagram etc. but I'm wondering if it'll be 3.5.1, or something newer. I'm also hoping it (re-)enables AppLink. I've joined their developer program where I can write my own apps and integrate them with the touch-screen display, but can't try them out because 3.1.3 has AppLink disabled.
  17. Actually, thumb on the sensor is lock, hand behind the handle is unlock. Make sure you're not doing them both at the same time. :)
  18. I would like to see a search that would work across all the sites for the various Ford models. So if I want to search for something non model-specific, like "Sirius radio price", I wouldn't have to search the forum for each car, or drop all the way out to Google.
  19. We need a graph good for Texas that goes up to 107 F. I'm wondering how much of a hit I'll take when I have the AC life-support turned on.
  20. I got mine from Five Star as well. I like the dealership, although I got the "...the car's so new we don't know..." when I tried to get a 3rd keyfob programmed. I'll have to call them again and see if they've figured it out yet.
  21. OTOH, never assume that the manufacturer, dealer, or tire store put in the correct pressure. I've had them come back way low and way high. I think one tire store left in the high pressure they used to set the bead on the tire. My C-Max was close, but a little low at 36 when I got it, so I went up to 39 all around.
  22. If it is dark outside, and you have the car on or in accessory mode, and you have the headlights on, then... The button to the right of the knob seems to toggle between forcing white light and full brightness, and manual control. In manual, the left button cycles through the colors, and the knob sets the brightness.
  23. Rachel - did they ever get you a VIN #?
  24. Interesting - CNCGeek mentioned the same thing the other day after having to do a "jump start" due to a dead battery: " It did spit out some error about mykey and said max speed limited to 80mph briefly and then it got it's bearings and all the warnings cleared. " I wonder if this will turn out to be a common "confusion mode".
