Thanks for the warnings. I tested out the dash cam with some velcro before mounting it permanently. Originally I had it even closer to the mirror but moved it to it's present location due to that plastic trim piece which was blocking too much on the left side of the car. I'll see how it goes with the rain and move it if need be. Would be interested to see where yours is mounted.

My dashcam arrived Monday and I installed it in about 10 minutes at work for the drive home. I got an A118 / B40 capacitor model. For now it's plugged into the outlet in the centre console, with the only wire visible being a couple of inches of wire running up the console beside the passenger seat. This model makes for a pretty clean and easy install. The dashcam starts up automatically and begins recording as soon as I unlock the doors and shuts off about 10 minutes after I shut the car off. Once I installed that I bit the bullet and ordered the ProClips Angled mount that goes to the right of the MFT. That arrived this morning and I installed in in a couple of minutes at work today. I ordered it with a USB power adapter that is currently plugged into the outlet between the seat warmer dials with the extra cable tucked into the mesh pocket on the passenger side. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I'll install 2 - 12v outlets in the glove compartment and plug both the dash cam and the cell phone charger into that and free up the factory outlets and space for an even cleaner install. Thanks to ScubaDadMiami and others who have posted what they used, it made my purchasing decision easy.

I wanted to go with the EcoHitch as it's a straight bolt in design but couldn't justify spending triple the amount the Curt hitch would cost to get it to my door. I'm really pleased with the quality of the hitch itself, and the install itself is either EXTREMELY DIFFICULT or pretty easy depending on one thing, drill bits. Regular drill bits will have you sweating and swearing and accomplishing nothing. I switched to a titanium nitrate coated step bit, and it cut through like butter. The bike rack I have is a SportRack 2 bike platform hitch rack I've had for over a year now. It can be converted for use with either a 1.25" or a 2" receiver. Anyhow, here are a couple of pics of the result all loaded up:

I've had my car for two months and never noticed that pocket on the passenger seat, thanks!

That's my thought. In all my cars, I throw my wallet in the centre console top tray along with my keys and whatever else I dont want in my pocket for the drive. In the C-Max I find the tray is not deep enough so my wallet goes down into the abyss of the console, then I have to take the tray out to retrieve it. This should solve the issue.

Excellent, thanks timwil56, just ordered mine!

Is Ford phasing out the C-Max Hybrid?
Bugblndr replied to ChrisMax's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I guess it depends on the size of the boat and trailer. The Toyota would drive in electric only up to 40 mph, and it would pull our 14' in electric mode. It wasn't a plug in so range is immaterial.. Ford used to have an Escape Hybrid, I almost bought one. There's no reason they couldn't have another one if they kill off our C-Max. -

My Highlander Hybrid had a CVT. It also had pseudo AWD. There was no driveshaft to a rear diff but it did have an electric motor that would power the rear wheels and also regenerate power. It's also rated to tow 3500 lbs. It towed a boat fine and had no problems pulling it out of the water. Ford has the technology to build an Escape Hybrid, it's just a matter of if they will, and if they can cram it in efficiently into the current platform. -

I don't recall seeing any advertising for the C-Max in Canada for the past 2 years. Not one Ford Dealer in my area ever shows it in their newspaper advertising, never on television, not on Ford Canada's national advertising, nowhere. I believe they promoted it a bit when it first came out in 2012 but haven't seen one ad since MPG-gate. It wouldn't surprise me if they discontinued it, but I really don't care, I got mine! -
I was in the same boat as you a few months ago. I knew I was getting a C-Max, it was a question of used, a 2014 new one or a 2015. At the time, a 2014 new SEL wasn't much more than a low mileage 2013 or 14 due to incentives. But then I couldn't really find a 2014 with the color and options I wanted. I ended up being offered a generous trade allowance on my SUV and a fair amount off MSRP so I ordered a 2015 from the factory. It took me a while to decide on what to do but in the end I'm very happy with my decision. I'm sure you'll figure out what works best for you. I have very little concern about reliability, but I do carry a booster battery in the car, just like I carry jumper cables in my other vehicles. It's been 2 months and 4,000 miles, zero issues, and so far I'm loving it! :happy feet:

I find the Nav in my C-Max is better than the one I had in my Toyota, but still really isn't the greatest. It's only 2 months old but doesn't have a highway that is 8 months old on it, so I'll need map updates when they are available. It tries for the quickest route but doesn't succeed. I do like that it updated me about road issues this weekend and offered to reroute me around the problem. I generally use Waze with my smartphone when I really need to get somewhere in the quickest time possible. Now time to finally order a decent cell phone mount.

I'm 48. I guess the C-Max is the Twenty Teen's version of the 90's Buick. Never thought I'd be driving Grandma's Buick at my age. :shift:

Several of us on here are using the Maxpider 3D Ford Escape mats. They are a bit cheaper than the Weathertech mats but the coverage is better and IMO they also look better. They are available for front and rear but they don't offer a cargo mat.

Only $1500 more for a one year newer model with 13,000 fewer miles on it? That's a no brainer to me unless there are other extenuating circumstances.

You don't have the vents manually closed by any chance do you? I used my AC for the first time today as well and had no issues with temperature or coolness.

Georgia raises Gas Taxes July 1st and Drops Tax Credits
Bugblndr replied to ptjones's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Raising the taxes on truckers is just raising everyone's taxes but making the trucker the tax collector instead of the government. The job of truckers is to transport goods not collect taxes. Pretty much everything we use is shipped via truck, including the gasoline used in your car, the food you eat, the car you drive, the clothes you wear, the milk you drink, the furniture you sit on, the soap you clean with, the electronics you use to browse forccmaxhybridforum.com, the solar panels that go on your roof, etc, etc, etc. If you raise the cost of shipping, you raise the cost of all goods. -
I wonder how many sales of the C-Max were fleet sales. I know up here pretty much no one has heard of or seen a C-Max, except for me and the local bylaw officers who drive them too. If it weren't for fleet sales, there'd be close to no sales at all.

Ford to idle 700 workers where the C-Max is made.
Bugblndr replied to scottwood2's topic in General Discussion
I'm not American but I'm in both camps on this one. I'll put about 21,000 miles a year on my C-Max. I'll also put about 4-5,000 miles a year on my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am which has a done up 5.7L V8, aftermarket heads, headers, and gets about 17 MPG overall. I like accelerating briskly in that car and money spent on fuel comes out of my entertainment budget instead of the transportation budget. ;) When I leased a Toyota Highlander Hybrid for 4 years, it made financial sense for me to get the hybrid versus the pure ICE model. At my relatively high mileage and the cost of fuel here ($5.20 per gallon) at the time, the fuel savings were greater than the hybrid cost over 4 years. I forget the numbers I had calculated, but if I did about 16,000 miles a year, I would've been better off with the ICE Highlander. Based on what happened with gas prices, it probably worked out closer to about even either way in retrospect. You can't get a C-Max equivalent car without a hybrid powertrain so there was no math to be done when I bought this car. For me, I wanted a fuel efficient vehicle with "all the toys", that could had the cargo capacity to haul all the stuff I typically need to haul. Gas won't be "cheap" forever, it's gone up 75 cents a gallon here since I ordered my car in January. -
FORScan is only in beta apparently, I haven't seen it generally available for Android yet. I use a Bluetooth ELM327 device with my Note 4 and Torque Pro. It works fine and also connects to the car's bluetooth simultaneously.

A/C and mileage in hot climates (Florida)
Bugblndr replied to tishpit's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
There's still a sunglass compartment. I gave up trying to put my sunglasses in there without scratching them up. I find it pretty much useless for it's intended purpose and haven't figured out what to use it for yet.- 27 replies

The brake charge you see showing 100% is showing the efficiency in your brake charging, not that you've charged the battery fully. If you make more sudden stops, that efficiency will go down. I've seen my battery full. When it's cold out and the gas engine is running continuously, the battery will be charged by it and braking and will top off. A lot depends on where you drive, how you drive and the temperature. When the battery shows full it isn't really 100% at capacity and when it shows empty it isn't a 0% either. It is not advisable to store a Lithium battery at 100% charge or run it empty so what you are seeing is the "usable" battery according to Ford.

Has anyone with a 2015 experienced this issue? I've not read of any.
-
The unit itself would fit in one of the bins under the rear floor mats, but when in the case with all the attachments it does not. No big deal either way. If I can get into the car, I can very easily open the storage compartment in the hatch with the hatch closed. I tried and made sure. ;) I did make use of it tonight as a flashlight. It worked quite well lighting up the area so I could finish installing my new Curt trailer hitch in the dark.
-
I bought this one: http://amzn.com/B00NPRNOSK I haven't had to use it to start my car yet, hopefully I never will have to use it for that purpose. I have used it to charge phones and tablets and it works great for that purpose. Flashlight works well too. I keep it in the storage compartment in the hatch and it fits no problem, takes up way less space than a set of jumper cables and you don't need anyone else around to use it. It's no doubt overkill to start the C-Max, hopefully it has enough grunt to start my Trans Am with a dead battery. I've had it for almost 3 months now, it's still showing almost a full charge.

I think you will find that situation extremely rare and personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless of course you like to drive the car until it runs out of gas, then it will happen frequently. ;)
