  1. Interesting you made that comment. From October - April, every week I do the same trip at about the same time, 80 miles west going up 400 feet in elevation, then the return trip at the end of the day, 80 miles east going down 400 feet in elevation. Almost all of that elevation change occurs on one hill. In the C-Max, I set Eco Cruise at 65 MPH (speed limit is 62) and there is no traffic to speak of. Westbound uphill into prevailing winds - 37 MPG Eastbound downhill with the wind - 46 MPG. I've only had the C-Max 3 weeks but in each case the results were similar, but with a bit lower MPG which I attribute to the car being brand new and the weather being colder.
  2. To be fair, all new cars have brakes and all have ABS too. I'd argue that Hybrid vehicles are much easier on brakes than conventional ICE only vehicles. My 2011 Highlander Hybrid had 85,000 miles on it when I traded it in. Only service other than oil changes was for rear pads and rotors. Total spent, $250 CAD including tax ($200 USD). Front brakes still passed safety.
  3. Mine arrived today, they seem to fit well and I'm very happy. They were cheaper than the weathertechs too. The only thing I noticed is that the grommet on the mats doesn't lock into the rubber thing on the carpet. That won't cause me any issues so unless I'm missing something, that's they way they are supposed to be. Thanks rotozuk and Pepelepewwww for doing the testing on these and letting us know. :hi5:
  4. February was the coldest month in recorded history here averaging -12.6 degrees C. Having to park outside, a remote starter makes a huge difference in my quality of life. My last 5 cars have had them. The only car in our household without one never gets driven in winter months. If I could get a TV Remote to bring me a cold beer, I'd get one of those too!
  5. Lots of the hybrids have the remote start, almost all of the SEL's on dealer lots around here have them and so does mine. The car should keep running when the door is opened. I'm not sure if there is an option setting that controls this or not, but by default it should not turn off. My Toyota Highlander Hybrid would turn off when I opened the doors and I could never resolve it. That was very annoying!
  6. The base SEL, 301A doesn't have a backup camera.
  7. Personally, I never buy an extended warranty. You're basically buying insurance, and built into that price is profit for Ford and whomever is selling the plan. When I was younger and broke, I used to buy them. Back then though, a $300 repair would mean my car would be parked and I'd be walking to work. The price to fix things has gone up since then, but the factory warranties have also gotten longer.
  8. It took 76 days from when I ordered it to when I picked it up, but I guess I officially belong here now. The car arrived at the dealer yesterday, they sent it out for tint this morning and I picked it up tonight. I've only put about 25 miles on it or so, but am really loving driving a car for a daily driver instead of a SUV. Below are a couple of pics of it, it looks just like every other 2013-2015 White Platinum C-Max. That said, it's the only one I've ever seen in person. :) I decided to add on the roof a week or so after originally ordering it, I'm glad I did.
  9. Regarding clearcoat, I've seen this mentioned more than once on this forum. As far as I know, all C-Max colors and pretty much all cars made in the past 20+ years have a clear coat finish. They stopped using single stage paints many many moons ago.
  10. At 62 MPG I'm guessing Costco is pretty close to your house?
  11. To be fair, I couldn't really find any info about the 2015 models in December, long after they were on the road.
  12. Model: C-MAX Hybrid SEL (302A) Original Estimate: 8-10 weeks Ordered at Dealer: 1/8/2015 Changed Order: 1/15/2015 VIN Received: 1/22/2015 Window Sticker Available: 3/3/2015 Build Date: 3/9/2015 ETA: 3/23/2015 Arrived at Dealer: 3/24/2015 Pickup date: 3/25/2015 They're selling them as fast as they can build them. They just can't build them very quickly. Hard to understand for a car that isn't selling worth a darn. Should've just done a dealer trade, oh well.
  13. If the part isn't available, it isn't available. All you would've done is delayed things by an extra day or two by changing dealers.
  14. Have you tried the obvious and removed your grill covers and then checked tranny temps?
  15. Looks great, thanks for the review. I'll be ordering mine soon.
  16. I believe drdiesel1 meant any devices doing continuous logging. Whether the scanner connects via bluetooth, wifi or a hardwired cable is immaterial. The bus is only so fast so if you're monitoring a large number of PID's, you could fill up the pipe in theory. I've used a few different OBDII scanners over the past 15+ years, and have never set a code on any vehicle because of their use. Just because I haven't had that issue, doesn't mean it couldn't happen.
  17. I looked at getting the Scan Gauge II, till I found an OBDII Bluetooth reader on Amazon for $20 delivered to my door. It arrived today and I tested it out on my Highlander with Torque Pro and Note 4. If my C-Max ever gets built and delivered I'd be glad to help out.
  18. Starting your car with the emergency brake on will typically make the DRL's not turn on. This is pretty much a standard on any car I've had, whether it's Ford, GM, Toyota or Honda.
  19. The only thing synthetic will hurt is your wallet. I run 0W20 in my Highlander, it's what is spec'd in the manual. I've run synthetic blends and straight synthetic. I noticed no difference in mileage between the two, nor would I expect to. Go nuts and use what you want as long as it's in spec. :)
  20. In all my vehicles I use recirc for more heat on the coldest winter days or more cooling on the hottest days. It's easier to heat up air that is already warm and easier to cool air that is already a lower temperature than the outside air.
  21. Interesting, up here where DRL's are mandatory, I have seen some models of cars that used front parking brakes as the DRL's. I noticed them mostly on during the early years of DRL's, not sure if anyone still does this.
  22. Thanks! I have a Note 4 so I assume it would be similar. Wasn't planning on spending that much, or digging into the electrical of a brand new car but I will probably go that route.
  23. ScubaDadMiami, how much of the screen is blocked when you use the ProClip? Do you have any pics of the system installed? Thanks!
