  1. Did you find the little area on the floor along side the driver's and passenger's seat that is a handy place to store a small umbrella?

My 2015 C-Max also has a little pocket on the left side of the passenger side seat which is great for holding small items, including perhaps your cell phone?

I added two pictures showing the pocket and the pocket with an envelope in it just to show the width and depth.

  2. Who's a grumpy old man!  Now get off my damn lawn!

Regarding older citizens and computers, I am 67 and was building my own computers for many years.  Was texting my wife from the grocery store when the clerk said, "That is so cool.  Could you teach my grandparents to text?"

I am just the opposite.  I got my first Smart phone with text ability just under two years ago.  Did fine without it except for hearing the constant complaint from my wife that I need text ability.  That's the only reason I have it now, and average maybe 10-20 texts a month if that of which 98% of them are from/to her.

I used to have a signature added to all of the forum posts I  belonged to that said  "Still spinning at 33 1/3 RPM in a MP3 World"  Of course I had to have my wife add that since I had no clue how to add a signature, a picture, cut and copy, or a different picture or symbol to the box on each forum where a person can put a little picture.  Still don't know how to do a lot of that stuff, but I do know how to turn on the computer, check and send email, and follow different forums I am interested in.

It is for all of those reasons I gave a back handed compliment to those who may be somewhat in the same techno void I am in.

  3. I realize that this is just a small sample of owners and limited to those who are subscribed to this forum and actually posted their age.  I wonder how these results actually compare with any charts or demographics that Ford Motor Company may have and what if any age group they market these cars to.

I find it interesting also that in order to have replied to this post, you would have had to use an Internet connection, a computer,  and be somewhat techno savey.  I really wasn't expecting to see some of the higher ages that have reported in versus some of the younger ages.

GO GRAY!  And keep doing it EV!

  4. I'm 48.  I guess the C-Max is the Twenty Teen's version of the 90's Buick.  Never thought I'd be driving Grandma's Buick at my age.   :shift:

You would think I would have learned by now NOT to be drinking anything while reading posts!

    Clean up in aisle ASDFGHJKL:"

And yes, I was all set to lease a BUICK Encore before finding the C-Max!

  5. Wait, the Empower screen on the left hand display doesn't have the instant MPG? I've not heard of this before. Did you check the display settings? I believe it can be turned off.

There is a white scale which shows MPG range of 0-60 whenever the ICE is running.  Pretty useless since it is not calibrated with better numbers and is only a visual line that goes up and down depending on load of the engine.

I was hoping to find something that shows the MPG for the ICE in a digital number other than when I shut the car off. The driving results (miles driven, miles driven in EV, regen miles, and MPG) are shown then, but only for the last trip from when the car was last started and last shut off.

There is the MPG shown while driving but that is total combination of EV and ICE.

  6. I am 63 and found the C-Max by accident!

I was about to lease a Buick Encore but had a Ford in the garage for the last 25 years at least.  I was replacing my Ford Edge and decided to see what Ford had because I wasn't supposed to get the Buick until the following day.

The salesman showed me a C-Max Energi on the showroom floor and came up with a very competitive price versus the Buick.  I leased it for 24 months and am very happy with the performance, MPG, MPGe, room, comfort, and handling.  I was very surprised how easy it is to get in and out of also.

Never knew what a C-Max was and never expected to be driving a hybrid vehicle!

  7. Just starting to learn about these scanners and have read as much as I can find.  I don't know if I missed it, but can anything be set up to show MPG when the ICE is running?  I have a 2015 Energi which does not have a lifetime or real time MPG readout.

I have a BAFX OBDII Bluetooth Adapter and an Android phone which I can download any of the apps that might contain the info I am looking for.

    Thanks for any help

  8. Glad you found out NOW instead of later NOT to add E85!  Unless a car is specifically marked "Flex Fuel" or "E85", you should not try running your engine with a blend containing only 15% or so of gasoline and 85% or so of alcohol.

Heck, in my opinion the E10 is bad enough.

  9. X-plan is great for those who don't want to negotiate, or don't have the time to do so.  The dealer can not change the price as shown on the Invoice under X-plan.  You can get a copy of the invoice per the plan rules just by asking the dealer for it.  The dealer is also limited to only being allowed to charge you $100.00 (last I checked) for "Doc" fees.  These fees are usually added on by many dealers as strictly a profit maker, and can be over $500.00 or more.

I have been eligible for X-plan price for the last two Fords I purchased, and the C-Max I just leased.  I have never used it because I have ALWAYS  been able to negotiate a MUCH better price than X-plan.

If you don't like to negotiate, don't have the time to, or don't have enough dealers to have compete with each other, X-plan may be for you.  For me, it never has been a good option.

Here is a list of over 130 pages of employers who are able to give an X-plan number to their employees.  The list is several years old but gives a good idea that X-plan is a pretty common price plan for many people to consider.  Heck you don't even have to work for one of the employees listed.  You just need to have a family member who does!

  10. Found this in a 2014 Ford service manual for the C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi.  Hope it might help you.  Might be able to set it to stay on just for 3 minutes according to this

    Headlamp Exit Delay

When the ignition is OFF and the multifunction switch is placed in the flash-to-pass position and released, the parking lamps and low beams are illuminated. They remain illuminated until:

    • 3 minutes have elapsed with a door open.
    • 30 seconds have elapsed after all doors are closed.
    • the multifunction switch is placed in the flash-to-pass position again.
    • the ignition switches to RUN.

Within the 30 second delay and all the doors closed, opening any door results in the 3 minute timer restarting.

  11. I have purchased the Ford DVD Service manuals over the years from different sellers on eBay.  ALL of them were described as not being copied, burned, or pirated copies as some of the ones listed by other sellers clearly are.  I  believe they are out dated discs which the dealership no longer has a need for.

Every one I have ever purchased also contains the entire line up of Ford and Lincoln vehicles for the years that are listed on the DVD.  So the one for 2012-2013 has all of the vehicles that were produced that year and include Workshop and Wiring.  They also have information which I can not access because I don't have a dealer code.  This includes some on-line information such as TSB's and Recalls from what I can tell.

Every DVD is also labeled with an experation date.  The 2012-2013 one I have is July 2013.  That means that in order for me to view the contents, I have to back date my computer before loading the disc to a date before July 2013.  Easy enough to do, and no big deal.  I have been told there are programs that can automatically back date the computer when the disc is put in, but for as little as I use it, I don't need such a program.

You can also choose English or French as a language to view the contents from what is listed once you open the contents, but I have never tried anything other than English.

Picture of DVD is only blurry because of my camera movement and not because of the quality on the DVD.
