  1. Dynamite driving Chris, congratz !!! With 52 MPG & 11.55 showing, you could have 'knocked off' a whole bunch of us - 'jus' saying. Fun, eh? Nick
  2. This thread has prompted me to revisit one of my fill-ups. RaPieR, yours look pretty consistent - mine are as well, with the dash always lower than the pump. I had one that I felt was bogus, however, where the dash showed 12.56, and the fill-up showed 13.36. It was at a gas station 'on the road', and it did not seem correct. It does seem to matter where you fill-up, and how careful you are (flat surface...). I may go back and 'split the difference' on that one. Nick
  3. Ouch is right, very sorry to hear that Rachel. Hmmm, good to go on Friday, busted on Saturday, hmmmm? Really hope it all ends well, and that Rainette is given the 'gold' treatment & returned to 100%!!! Nick
  4. 47.0 - 47.2 per dash (less 180 dealer/get started miles), 45.7 fuelly/pump (actual ?), _______ GPS/pump (actual actual ?? ;) ;) ;) ) 47.xxx on yesterdays 120 mile freeway jaunt (ECO cruise 60-67 mph). Can't seem to get away from those nasty high numbers we are not supposed to get - . Ready for the fall, Nick
  5. PT. How do you account for the 13.85 to 13.96 'actuals'? Is the tank a little larger than they tell us or might that be the extra volume of the tank's fill tube? (Hope it does not reflect an inaccurate pump?) Nick (Looks like we have a real capacity of 13.9 gallons, and a reason to 'shut it down' at around 12.5 - 7)
  6. Mostly about the Energy, nothing new, some typical factual errors, but reasonably well written and even handed (geez, even upbeat). http://thesnaponline.com/features/x31534145/Ford-C-Max-hybrid-worth-a-try-for-the-environmentally-conscious

  8. It missed you and was just getting your attention? (You haven't named it Hal have you?) C-Maxes are not inanimate, you see. Yes strange. Nick
  9. Congratz Jmonty! A breeze eh! Those last few miles can be a bit tense. Nick
  10. Yoking aside, Adair, you made the right choice. Taking care of the family always comes first! Nick PS Noah - and in the wild, a loose woose ?
  11. "Ford is a corporation and its like a Titanic, thing will turn but very slowly. Unlike the Captain of the Titanic, AM are making positive changes and they are filtering down. I believe improvements are coming but not at a rate we like in an "instantaneous satisfaction rate" we are all accustomed to in this Internet driven world." Well said Jus & Laurel, and that includes the marketing. We could write / produce a half dozen commercials from this web site, but that is not how it works - yet. I am seeing evidence of corporate progress at my every turn, from Boing tech sessions to the dealership; a slow but steady turn in the very right direction. The 'filter down' will take years, as dealerships, sometimes grudgingly, try to achieve higher standards (a very, very difficult challenge). Nick PS; C-Max, my first Ford - a very challenging car to produce, market, and perhaps service.
  12. Not one word of 'new' information / content - pure hate (Ford) mongering / cheap piling on (and the author gets paid for it). Very sad. Presumably the author has never been near a C-Max. "Reinvention" journalism - how about writing something about that - what a joke! (rather 'Let's all be robots' journalism) Makes me want to write a comment to the author & respondents: yadda, yadda, yadda, get a life folks, form some of your own opinions, touch it, enter it, drive it ........... it "floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee" - you choose! You can drive it like a butterfly (EV) or drive it like a bee (0-60 in 7.5 seconds). Ford does not make that choice, the EPA does not make that choice, CR does not make that choice for you, YOU DO! Butterfly mode; 45 - 55 MPG, Bee mode: 30-35 MPG (& 36,000+ points in between). I thought we liked choices in our culture! Nick PS What a great car!
  13. Whoa there Adair, definitely D. Five miles, forgetaboutit, go for 45 and nip Grouper at 640.2 - no question! (Tell the boss you were abducted - because you were!) ((( you asked for it! :skateboard: ))) Nick
  14. Drat, so close caszorc, it won't be long I'm sure! Like your estimate of 20 miles on '0'; helps me/us confirm what is prudent. I would love to know what your fill-up numbers were to help confirm how low your tank was - can you divulge? Thanks, & cheers in advance on your future 600! Nick
  15. Lost in the numbers here Jus, but I’ll definitely take the 20 additional ‘safe’ ICE miles, going from 12.3 to 13.0 gallons used – i.e. trusting the gallons used readings. Still spooky venturing past "0", may never get there again, but if I do ......... (Let’s see, .7 gal/0.01 = 70 - 2 sec. burns = 140 sec.. 20 miles/140 sec = 514 mph – way cool! :superhero: :superhero: :superhero: ) I'm sure I got the numbers wrong, but I like them! Nick
  16. Go MI C-max!!! Glad to see you have already boxed the ears of those sillymobiles called Prii. I can't stop laughing when I see their dashes. I am certain you will have success with the MPG, if not greater than, at least equal to. Either of the Custer roads should work fine, giving you 50+s in time. I will defer to the experts on flyway tips - so far we have just ecocruised at 58 to 65. Best of luck! Nick
  17. Where to place the most faith - the 'miles to empty' or 'gallons used'? The obvious answer being the 'gallons used', knowing that the 'miles to empty' always (?) runs out before the tank goes dry. The real question being how much faith to place in the 'gallons used'? Can it be trusted up to say 12.5, 12.75, 13.0 gallons (flat terrain.....) ? Similarly, what have some of you experienced in actual miles traveled after hitting the '0 miles to empty' point - 10, 20, 30? I only dared 5 extra miles on my last / 640 tank. Another obvious consideration being the battery SOC & terrain. (Hmmm, maybe try to hit '0' at the top of a 50 mile downhill slope - no, that would be cheating.) Anyway, assuming normal slopes and EV/ICE splits, how many miles of ICE driving would you recommend after '0 miles to empty'? Sorry if this is too much of a rehash, Nick
  18. OK, one last update for me (???). Here is our last tank & fuel up. Went about 5 miles past the '0 to empty' reading. Probably left some miles in the tank. Time to hit the track and start looking for low numbers instead of high numbers? :superhero: FWIW, our numbers seem to be tracking upward with the update. (spooked at first thinking they were falling off) Hypersmiling :) :) :) , Nick PS At the pump: 12.67 gallons, 50.5 MPG

  21. Welcome Kristini! Glad you love your C-Max, and driving it well it would seem with great MPGs. I noticed a C-Max last night at a Seattle Mariner Game they are giving away for Fan Apprec. night - it had a road caution sign attached saying, Caution, you might fall in love... Enjoy the C-Max & this forum, Nick PS I think most people are giving the update credit for 1-3 MPGs. It is very hard (impossible really) for any of us here to quantify. Welcome MI C-max as well! Hope your battery issues are resolved soon, jchaddpete. Welcome!
  22. Thanks ArizonaE. Looks like a few available. Nick
  23. ArizonaE, I tried your link and struck out. I could not find any part to select for "spare tire". How were you able to search yours? I tried "tire" with no luck. Not the greatest feed-back window when you hit search, and nothing is found. I assume you clicked in on Ford Taurus, 2007. Nick
  24. Sorry Plus 3, this was an informative thread until the lecture: "Save such "spirited driving" for the track not the highway." Sadly, you shut it down. We know you meant well, but sharing & learning is what this site is about - I think. Here's to an informative, well meaning & spirited thread - thanks Frank. Nick
