  1. You would have to mention this. Had a look at mine and I found rubbing too, but at the bottom corners. Bummer.
  2. 14.4 more or less is correct when the battery is being charged by the "alternator." 12.7 is correct otherwise.
  3. Alas, I don't believe this is true.
  4. Ease of getting in and out was a BIG factor for me because of my wife's arthritis. The other recent cars were a 2003 Crown Victoria and a 1998 Grand Cherokee. C-Max seat height is about half way between the two, i.e. higher than the Crown Vic and lower than the Jeep. My wife finds getting in and out easier than either of the other cars. Clearly, the best suggestion is to simply try a C-Max.
  5. One more thing: add a panic alarm function to the Type 1 Intelligent Access Key. (Hold down the lock button perhaps.) Not having a panic alarm is, IMHO, absurd.
  6. I just realized that there's no panic alarm button on my Type 1 Intelligent Access Key. I guess I assumed that some combination of button presses would activate the alarm. Is this really the case (no panic alarm)? Surely not. But if so, can I buy a Type 2 key and have it work with my plain-vanilla SEL?
  7. How does that work? Does you car have a phone number or Wifi connection? (Sorry if this is a stupid question.)
  8. I'd prefer "Slippery When Wet." :)
  9. The passenger seat will heat only when occupied. Probably true of the driver's seat too, but I haven't bothered to check. :)
  10. How? How? I too have a SEL. I do NOT have navigation. The C-Max owners manual says it can be done and does not mention navigation as a prerequisite. So if anyone knows how to do this in a non-navigation environment, please share the secret. adThanksvance.
  11. I've owned my plain-vanilla SEL since early October. I've driven it some 5500mi, including a 75-80 MPH round trip from Connecticut to South Carolina when it was just a week old. So far, my only problems have been Sync/MFT related. Hope this helps.
  12. Agreed. fordparts.com refers to part # 6268 a timing chain.
  13. Has anyone successfully used one of these (or equivalent) devices? If so, I'm curious as to which 12V outlet was used. I ask because with all the automatic shut down of various systems, I'm wondering which, if any, of the 12V outlets would be able to zap the car back to life.
  14. About a foot on the ground as of this writing. Good news is we have power. Bad news is there's yet another foot to come.
  15. Actually it seems to me that they grab a bit more when first used. Rather like they need to get warmed-up (regenned?). Wet brakes, which I've experienced on other vehicles, tend to slip until they dry out. Especially exciting when only one wheel gets wet! As far a break in, I have 5500 mi on the C-Max and they still grab a bit when initially used. Really :wub2: the car in spite of some "issues."
  16. My two cents worth (in no particular order): Displayable tire pressure.Bigger sun visors.Illuminated gear indicator by the shifter.Opening liftgate window.Rear-view camera without navigation.Less grabby brakes.Less instrument glare.Additional right-side-of-the-speedometer display options (e.g. tire pressure). And, obviously, MFT fixes and cold-weather mileage. Incidentally, MFT vs. navigation should be clearly differentiated. I have MFT; I do not have navigation.
  17. No, not normal; I don't have the problem. Maybe the monkey did it :-)
  18. I just had this happen. High today was about 25F. After some errands, car was left outside in front of the garage from about 3:00pm until 6:30pm. I then put it in the garage and turned it off. So far, so good. A few minutes later, I returned to the garage and heard the buzzing. Could have been a fan, but at rather low speed. Sounded somewhat like a bicycle with a playing card in the spokes. But not too loud. Note, the garage is unheated, and it took all of 30 seconds to move the car into the garage. No way the high voltage battery needed cooling, and without the engine running, there's no source of heat. Anyway, I got in the car, put it into accessory mode (i.e. "start" but without foot on the brake), then turned it off. Buzzing stopped. All very bizarre. I wonder if this is a precursor to a dead 12V battery?
