My understanding is the 2017 C-Max is the last time this Car will be named C-Max. Starting with the 2018 Model run it will be re-branded a Ford Edge Hybrid. A prior Plan had been starting with the 2018 model to build the C-Max in Mexico continuing with the C-Max name. Ford had announced before the administration reported it saved jobs at Ford that it had changed its Plan and would continue to build this Hybrid in Michigan in the current Plant it now builds the C-Max in, but, as I wrote, would re-brand it in its current Edge Line. Ford has announced that they want to get real aggressive in the Hybrid arena and go after the Prius and other Hybrids to top their sales. Ford has made this statement in the past and never acted on it, so its a wait and see thing. Ford has done a terrible job in my Home Start of advertising the C-Max....advertising was non-existence. Ford dealers in the Tampa, Fl area told me they didn't want the C-Max on their lots because they could not sell them and only took the ones Ford forced upon them. You cannot sell a Car if people have no idea it even exists. I found out about the Vehicle from a friend who owned one. I did contact Ford Marketing...who told me 90% of the C-Max's they produced...shipped to California and the Washington, DC markets....leaving 10% to the other states. I shopped my 2016 from November 2015 and purchased in April 2016....and that was because their were no 2016 in local dealers lots.....the one I purchased arrived on a dealers lot and I purchased it w/i 3 weeks of its arrival.

Although the Topic of my POST is about my 2016 C-Max....., hopefully it will get back on Topic and away from my CR-V's Mileage; I promise all of you that have commented about my Highway 2014 CR-V Gas Mileage....I will POST a picture of the Mileage Display following my next trip from Home to DisneyWorld....so you can all see it. I assure you, when I fill my Tank, I am always certain to do so at a Station where my vehicle is sitting Level and in fact, almost 100% of the time, I gas up at the same Station. The first Time I drove it to Disney I got 38 MPG moving upward to 39 MPG; no Traffic Backups. The 2nd trip...Backs up both ways.....several in fact.....stop and Go....Mileage was down a bit to 34MPG. This drive one way totals 107 miles of which all but about 14 miles is highway and I normally drive on the Highway at 65MPH. We are planning this trip in about 2 weeks....we have Disney Annual passes....and again, I'll POST a picture. Hopefully this POST will get back on Topic as I would like to hear from fellow C-Max owners regarding my original Post on my 1st 2016 C-Max Road trip observations... Thanks to all......

Not sure how to answer your question regarding my 2014 Honda CR-V question......I kept my speed to no greater than 65 MPH other than that I can think of nothing else. Mileage was supported by Car's Display and actual math....filing Tank after trip and dividing Gallons to Fill into actual Mileage Traveled.

Took my 2016 C-Max on its first Highway Drive....total distance 250 Miles....with no City Driving. Come away impressions, excellent. This is my first entry into the Hybrid world of driving. Not having anything to compare this drive to, there were a few things following this drive that gives rise to some concerns but maybe unwarranted as I have nothing to compare...and maybe my concerns are Normal for a Hybrid and or, the C-Max. Concerns; 1) I noted occasionally a very split second vibration as the Elec engine handed off to the Gas engine....I was rather impressed that I even saw the car was being powered by the Elec engine at Highway speeds; even at 65 MPH I saw the Elec Engine takeover for short distances. It was at the hand off from Elec to Gas....again not all the Hands off...that I felt what I would best describe as a very slight vibration not sure I didn't heard a slight click from the right side of the rear compartment...as if a Switch or Relay that controls the Hands from Elec to Gas didn't make a slight sound. This would seem a Normal thing as the Gas Engine does require a Startup and this may be that vibration I felt....very minor, but once again noticeable. It was enough of a feel that I knew I was switching from Elec to Gas Power. Again, I did not notice it on Gas to Elec only occasionally on Elec to Gas and not on every hand off....so is this Normal? 2) After I got home.....about 5 or 10 mins after turning off the Car I heard what sounded like a fan. Exploring where the noise was coming from, I keyed into the Rear Compartment and concluded it must be a fan cooling the Batteries? My guess it went on for about 10 to 15 Mins before it shutoff. This again would seem Normal....and I am thinking on the good side, its good to know this Monitoring process that monitors the battery temperature kicked in as designed (I have nothing blocking the Intake or output of the air circulating for the Battery). Positives; 1) The C-Max has plenty of acceleration at the higher speeds in Fact it felt very much like the responsiveness I knew from driving past V-6 Gas Engines. 2) I thought driving at 60 to 70 Speeds, the Gas engine would be exclusive; nice to see the Mix of Elec and Gas 3) Destination I was driving to and back....I was in a Bumper to Bumper stop and go slow....12 to 14 Mile Traffic backup on a Highway with Posted speed limit of 70. The entire time the C-Max was able to go thru this Backup totally on the Elec Engine. While the zillion other cars were using Gas....I was using None. In fact, gas mileage increased during the Backup. 4) Overall the 250 Mile Highway trip.....when I got home and powered off, the Report card as I call it showed my Gas Mileage at 45.7. I drove this same trip previously with a 2014 Honda CR-V...and experienced about the same Traffic backup pattern, and got 38MPG. I therefore was very pleased with the C-Max's Highway Mileage; 2001 Minivan; same trip....23 MPG. 5) It handled great....very comfortably and for the most-part, quiet ride. I noticed some Gas engine roar at times when I accelerated from slower speeds getting back to 65. Pretty much the same level of sound I have always heard when driving in town and starting from a stopped position and the Elec engine hands off to the gas engine. 6) At the higher speeds which topped at 70....I never felt like it was laboring....and it had plenty speed yet to go. Feedback especially to my CONCERNS will put my mind at ease that my Hybrid is acting as the 2016 Hybrid should....

I test drove the Niro LX....I own a 2016 C-Max SEL. What I noticed immediately was how it accelerated from a stop....it just seems sluggish. I have learned to be light on the acceleration Pedal when coming off a stop.....to allow my C-Max to push the weight of the car in a forward motion which is where most cars consume the most gas...getting the mass moving. That is how I drove the Niro. The difference was the Niro seemed to momentarily shrug. Reading the Niro's owners Manual it actually points out that when first driving the Niro you will notice this shrug and it will improve during the first 1,500 miles of driving as the Transmission Optimizes. I tried it in Sports Mode, there was a significant difference....but in that Mode you are required to manual shift the Transmission thru the Gears...you get to choose when to shift...this of course will impact your Gas Mileage. As to the lack of separate Starting battery, there is a button on the Niro that is to be used if its Chargeable battery is unable to provide battery Startup Power; my guess is the chargeable battery has a cell saved for such an issue. Overall I liked the drive and the Price. Like another Poster wrote, I would need to test drive the car again before I would purchase it.....I need to get my impression of that shrug startup out of my mind....that is what I came away with after driving the car. It almost felt like in my mind, a Hesitation start where my Body was moving forward and for a split second, the car was not. I did try accelarating hard from a Stop, and the startup hesitation was not Noticable...guessing it would be because the gas engine kicked in immediately therefore no hand off from Elec to gas. What surprised me was the Niro didn't have a Hands Free Rear hatch opening.....I have that on the 2016 C-Max, what a Pleasure when your hands are full and you need to put groceries in the rear Cargo area. The Dashboard seemed to have many more display looks than the C-Max. I found many displays similar. The Hybrid operation display showing how Power\Recharging is taking place, you can get that on the center large screen, or, on the Display directly in front of the steering wheel, although a much smaller display. It has the end of trip statistics like the C-Max....a Nice feature. I like the smooth acceleration with no shifting, I did hear and feel the shifting of the DCT on the Niro....but it in no way was a I wouldn't buy. I did like the pricing which on the LX model....gave me all the Features I would want at a much lower price than the C-Max which would require the Titanium Model. I have asked my local Kia dealer to keep an eye out for the Niro LX in Red with the Technologist Package that adds Side, rear, front warnings and adaptive Braking features. As to 2018; Ford has announced the C-max name will disappear....and the vehicle will be re-Labeled a Ford Edge...so the name goes away, the vehicle goes on. Summary, the Niro may be a choice for me if I want to buy in 2017 as I would not Buy a 2017 C-Max given its Name will disappear in the 2018 model year. The 2016 C-Max is my first purchase of a Hybrid and I have no regrets, my wife and I love driving the car and Love its results.....averaging 45MPG in mixed driving.

Anyone know if the 2016 Ford C-Max Hybrid Elec\Gas Model qualify for any Federal Tax Credits and if so the IRS supporting Article that supports the Credit or ReBate....

To Clarify; when you hear the Elec Engine hand off to the gas engine....what you hear is from the front engine compartment; not the rear as I described? I don't feel or hear anything from the engine compartment....its quiet up front and smooth when the change takes place. Wish there was a Picture available of the Rear battery area exposed so they Batteries and components parts could be seen.

Referring to the START BUTTON...... I love the feature and I have not experienced the issues as described here with my 2016 C-Max. What I have experienced is a thud like sound when I press the Start Button coming from the right side of the rear Compartment area which I believe Houses the Batteries. I have owned the C-Max 10 months and only started to hear the Noise the last 2 months. I have another friend who has a C-Max; their uses the Key....and as mine was prior to a few months back; my friends C-Max powers on without any noise. Is this normal? Or should the Start be totally Silent.....? I also hear this same sound...so it is either the same cause/or just a similar Noise...when I start up from a stopped position and just as the Elec Engine is handing off to the Gas Engine...the same/similar Noise from exactly the same area.....rear compartment, Right side. I am guessing there is some sort of solenoid/switch that directs Power flow from the battery to the Elec engine and components and charging mode back to the Battery... Tried to fine a Picture of the area and have been unable to fine one on the Internet.

Standing in my garage when my wife pulls up into the driveway and turns off the car; heard something squeaking as something was powering off. Popped the hood; Starting car (w/AC On)...turned it off; squeak coming from Radiator Fan Motor. You can actually turn fan by hand and hear the squeak. Did a google search; found nothing regarding C-Max with this issue, but did find a 2016 Ford F-150 Forum dedicated to this same issue; Radiator Fan Motor squeaks when it powering off. Would seem the same fan Motor on the 2016 F-150 may well be the same in the 2016 C-Max. Owners of the F-150 with this issue describe having the Fan Motor replaced 3 and 4 time with the same Squeak. The last few entries in that forum note; Ford finally changed the Fan Motor part Number and the issue was resolved; sounds like a new Motor ...perhaps from a different vendor. No one ever mentioned in the F-150 how difficult/easy it was to replace the Radiator Fan Motor. As I look at my 2016 Radiator Fan Motor there is no way it is replaced from the Top....there is simply no clearance and the top support Brace is molded Plastic and is not removal. The only way may be to replace it from underneath. As I look there, I see little room; I see a radiator hose that may be required to be removed. Has anyone else heard this squeak? Has anyone had the Radiator Fan replaced? If so, how was it replaced....from underneath? Was it a lot of tear out if known? And, is the New Radiator Fan Motor no longer squeaking? My vehicle has 2,200 Miles on it and I suspect the squeak was present pretty much from when the car was driven off the dealers lot....just that I never heard it sitting inside Vehicle. I hate to have a new Vehicle torn down sometimes things just don't go back to the way it was from the factory. Responses are appreciated.....
