  1. Clearly you need the EPA. They are always right - even when they are wrong. Many years ago I bought a Dodge Caravan and for the first few months I was getting great gas mileage. Way more than the window rating. Somewhere along the line I had it in for service and was discovered that the car was set up for metric use. The car was built in Canada and must have escaped to the states where I bought it. Anyway, dealer did something to reset the calibration and all of sudden I went back to gallons and miles instead of liters and kilometers. I felt happier when I saw the high number reading, Lesson learned - never mix the two systems. :shift:
  2. The SD slot is just to the left of the USB ports. Normal use is for the navigation card but since I do not have navigation it is available for use just like the USB drives. I think it is standard if you have the MyTouch screen. So if you have the 2 USB ports then the SD port should be there as well. The link below will show a photo of what it should look like. The port between the USB's and RCA jacks is the SD card slot. http://www.traveling...ort_and_USB.jpg
  3. The ports are difficult to access. I use the USB ports for flash drives to play music but the position of the drive makes them easy to hit when putting items into the box. I am worried that I will hit it and snap something. I would have put the ports somewhere else and oriented differently. This is why I plan to convert my flash drives to the SD card which is completely protected.
  4. We had purchased the 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid in June of 2009. Within the first 30 days the entire dash screen went blank. No speedometer gauges of any kind just blank. Went to the dealer, why is this happened and when will it be fixed. This car was one of the first few models sold, so no experience on service at that point. Finally after many days of wondering what did I get myself into the dealer called and said we have a fix. Apparently the software had a glitch and the car needed to be reprogrammed/updated. Anyway, after that incident we have not had one single problem with this car. It has been rock solid the entire time. I know this time is enormously frustrating, but I believe your car will be fixed for you. It will run great for years to come. I know mine has and so will yours.
  5. I wonder if a 2013 Ford Focus Hatchback would fit? Very similar front ends.
  6. Who is your dealer? Sounds like they are service oriented.
  7. Thanks for reminding me. My dealer gave me a free oil change certificate too. I already forgot about it. I know I buried it with all the other paperwork that I will never look at again. I will make a point to dig it out.
  8. I don't remember anything in the break in section about a 1000 miles break in oil change. I thought it indicated scheduled service at 12 months or 10,000 miles which ever occurred first. Did I miss something?
  9. Thanks for posting the link. I can't believe the difference. My dealer quoted me at the time of purchase $1100 for a 6/60 ESP on my C Max. Anderson & Koch quoted $585 for the same plan. That's huge! Have you purchased from them in the past?
  10. I order for the new buyer of a used car to benefit from an existing ESP, it would have to be transferred to them from you. Many dealers do not want to tell the new buyer anything about an existing ESP. This is why the dealer will tell you to get a refund on the balance left and apply that cash on the new car's extended warranty. There is a good chance that if you don't do it that way you are just out the money and the new owner will not benefit either.
  11. If you really only plan to keep the car for 3 years or so I think you will be wasting your money adding the ESP. The standard warranty is bumper to bumper 3/36 powertrain 5/60 and hybrid components is 8/80. I was quoted around $1100 for 6/60 ESP. I don't believe the trade in value on a 3-4 y/o car would be any greater with the ESP.
  12. My EV+ has been working every time I am nearly home for the past 2weeks. So far it has not learned my work address.
  13. I have had three Mercury's, one Lincoln and now a Ford C Max. I have had the good fortune to have very good service departments in all of the vehicles I have had over the years. Granted I have had very little need for service other than routine maintenance. I have heard of some dealerships with bad service reputations and if that is yours I would check the customer review sections on the internet for other dealers in your area with hopefully a good reputation. Good luck because your ownership experience with great customer service makes all the difference. Good luck
  14. I wonder if this is a software protocol not booting up on time or is temporarily out of sync with the CVT? This issue seems to be becoming a sporadic trend. The common thread here seems to be it only occurs after the car has been off awhile rather then gear changes during a drive. No one seems to report hesitation when shifting to drive to reverse or shift to drive. Appears only when first started and shift to reverse. Does everyone's experience to date agree with this observation? If we can nail down a specific time this occurs maybe we can get some help from Ford.
  15. I would like to see a "sticky topic" devoted to tip tricks and techniques of hypermiling the C Max Hybrid/Energi. This could be very helpful for current and future hybrid owners who want to optimize their mileage all in on place. Hopefully including Ford engineer's secret tips and tricks to actually get 47mpg on highway/city driving. After all if miles/gallon were not a primary concern here this would be a Mustang forum.
  16. One of the package gripes I have is in order to have a power lift or upgraded stereo on the SEL model I must get navigation. I don't want nav. On the SE however you can get a power lift gate without nav. I would like to see the power lift gate or stereo upgrade be treated like the panoramic roof option. Simply add it separately without requiring navigation.
  17. I was getting a error message saying "to many server redirects" and would not load the website correctly on my smart phone all weekend.

    Hello!

The electric motor is rated to run up to 62 mph. After that I think it is just gas motor running. Maybe experiment with cruise set to 62 or less and see what you get.
  19. I would suggest that you examine the door for any signs of repair. Even take it to a body shop for analysis. Several years ago I bought a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee. After the first year I noticed that the paint on the rear fender was different than the rest of the car. I took it to the dealer and asked why and was told that I did not wax it enough. Later took it to a body shop and was told that it was repainted and that the 4x4 badge was missing. I had never noticed that the 4x4 badge was missing from day one. Went back to the dealer demanding an explanation which brought in a Chrysler factory rep. Long story short. Somewhere my Jeep was damaged and poorly repaired and the missing 4x4 badge was the only proof that it occurred somewhere between leaving the factory and received by the dealer. My Jeep's fender was ultimately repainted and turned out fine. All I am suggesting here is consider why might the HYBRID badge be missing? Did they forget to put it on at the factory? I doubt it. Was the door damaged and repaired by the transport hauler that you paid $800 for? Maybe? You won't know until the paint fades, peels or rusts. I would get this on the service record just in case. It could be that your car was damaged somewhere and repaired. The problem is you did not know you might have bought a damaged car.
  20. Normally, I just use the "California duster" when all I need is to remove dust. http://www.californiacardusters.com/standardcarduster.html
  21. I used Meguiar's Gold liquid wax. It really made the ingot silver pop.
  22. "and we surpassed our own expectations for the first full month of C-MAX Hybrid sales." This is very encouraging that it was not just me that thought the C Max was a good choice.
  23. Yesterday I decided to check my tire pressures which was reading 34 psi in all four. Interestingly, the low pressure monitoring system does not recognized 34 psi as low. This makes me wonder how low must they go before it does report low pressure? Anyway, I decide to familiarize myself with the Tire Mobility Kit (TMK) by inflating the low pressure tires with it. Instructions on use are in the pouch. Basically, it is a two hose system. The black hose is for air only and the clear hose is for sealant and air. The top of unit has a selector switch to direct which hose you want to use and a 12 volt plug on the bottom of the unit. The built in air gauge is on top which registers the air pressure as soon as you screw the hose onto the stem and turn selector to air only. The gauge appears accurate when double checked against an electronic air gauge. So you plug into the 12 volt outlet and push the on/off button on the unit and pressure immediately begins to increase. When the TMK gauge showed 40 psi I switched it off and removed hose which when I used my tire gauge showed 38.5 psi. Bottom line, the TMK (air only) worked perfectly and appears to be a solid well built unit. Granted I did not use the sealant. For those who do not have their own separate air compressor at home this will be a nice addition for you instead of buying air at the gas station. Also there is an adapter for ball inflation or beach raft inflation under that cap so you can use TMK for other air inflation needs.
  24. Ok the next discovery I made this past weekend are how the USB slots work with My Touch. I was curious if two flash drives and the SD card work together. I quess I shouldn't be surprised but it works. When you have two flash drives plugged in you now have the screen display show USB1 and USB2 and of course the SD. Sync voice allows you to choose which drive you want by saying USB1 or USB2 or SD. Note the USB1 shot is the lowest one.
  25. I think the sound from the base system is great. I did not feel the Sony system adds that much more sound to the car to justify the up charge. I hear and feel a nice base with good mid range and high range sounds. I play 95% of my music from mp3 files from the flash drive. I actually plugged my flash drive into a Sony equipped C Max for a test drive before deciding on which model I wanted and I didn't find it to be superior.
