  1. We see several C-Max Hybrids or Energi's every day in the north suburbs of Chicago. A silver one parked next to us at church last Sunday which was cool. As many C-Max observations as Tesla's. More C-Max's than Volts. The Prius is ubiquitous, however. But when we tell people we bought a C-Max and our mileage-to-date is 50+mpg their reaction is "what is that"? Did Marketing drop the ball or did Ford resolve to only sell a fixed number of them? Now that we have peoples' attention it seems a shame to say they are not being made anymore.
  2. Interesting. Will have to check for this since we've been focused on mileage stats. Has anyone named their car Cloud-Max yet?
  3. My wife is really enjoying her 45-mile round trip commute and has settled on a different route that's more efficient. Two days into her third tank of fuel she has seen a 55mpg and 57mpg days (as displayed). Our mechanic who hyper-miles a lightened VW Golf diesel (running four space-saver spares at high air pressure) is taking notice.
  4. ^^ 51.4mpg calculated based on a 12.088 gallon fill-up. Updated after 3,600 miles tracked: 54.4 mpg, 659 miles, 12.1 gals
  5. Thanks for the tip, ptjones. I updated our stats above. Am using the Fuelly app to track long-term. Updated again 8/4/18 after 3,600 miles tracked.
  6. The second tank since we purchased our 2018 hybrid. Two weeks of commuting: 52.3 mpg 621.1 miles Estimated range displayed after fill-up: 730 miles.
  7. From our second fill-up in first month of ownership. Snapped this photo on 6/13/18. 621.1 miles 353.2 EV 52.3 mpg indicated 12.09 gal fuel added 51.4 mpg calculated Remaining range 83 miles The C-Max seems well-suited to my wife's 45 mile round trip commute on medium speed county roads with stop lights. Through 8/4/18 and 3,600 miles tracked: Average mpg: 51.2 calculated Best mpg: 54.4 and 54.2 (last two fill-ups) Best miles before fill-up: 659 and 655 (last two fill-ups) Displayed range: 730 miles (typical)
  8. Ummm, I think you misread my post.
  9. DarenHayes, I think the "30-ish mpg" comments were from online trolls we discovered when doing research before our purchase. After one month, we're averaging 51.5mpg and approximately 59% EV use. My wife is deferring her next fill-up so we can join the 600-mile club, or better. She also loves not having to stop for gas after work or in bad weather.
  10. We have experience with several sets of the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06. Rotating straight front to back has worked fine. They have a much higher speed rating than the C-Max.
  11. Worked like a charm! Valid today from 7am PST until 7pm PST.
  12. We cross shopped some of those last month and the C-Max won over my wife and I. The Escape was nice but had more of a truck-like ride, probably by design. Rear visibility was less than what we're used to. YMMV. The Mazda CX-5 felt larger than my wife felt comfortable with. The Mazda 3 was a good size, but she felt the rear visibility was "tunneled", and it was low to the ground. Subaru Foresters may have improved handling now but when we'd have them as loaners they felt awkward compared to our Legacy GT turbo. Most Subaru transmissions are now CVT's, FWIW. If you need AWD, Subaru's full time AWD has always worked well in heavy rain and snow. EDIT: One cost of owning Subaru's long term is the flat-four engines have two cylinder heads - twice as many sensors, seals, and so on.

  14. Well done with the washing machine! My wife and I kept thinking "maybe we should buy the Escape", but your experience confirms we made the right choice. Ride quality of the Escape was more truck-like (probably intentional in this day and age of suspension tuning).
  15. The video was definitely helpful, as was spending time learning about the different screens and MyView. This is out first week of ownership of a 2018 C-Max SE dealer courtesy car with 2500 miles that was not driven efficiently. Tracking our own mileage my wife and I are averaging 50.7mpg AND 60% in EV mode in about 200 miles of commuting. We are amazed by the mileage, as well as how quiet and solid the ride is.
  16. This is only our first week with a 2018 C-Max Hybrid. We are seeing 50.7mpg with 60% EV use after five days of commuting (45 minutes each way on suburban 45-55mph roads with stop lights and stretches of open road cruising). Yesterday I even managed to climb some rolling hills with it staying in EV mode (momentum seemed to help). Our "coach" scores for acceleration, braking, and cruising are blue most of the time, with only occasional amber moments such as when entering a freeway. We are thrilled with these numbers after reading the sour grapes reviews online that C-max averages in the 30mpg range. The greatest frustration so far is with other drivers who speed up and slow down erratically, making it hard to plan ahead with de-cel and braking.
