Today, I was in a parking lot waiting for my wife. I turned on the Nav. and it showed me about 1/4 mile north of my position. I pressed my finger on the map where I actually was located. The Nav suddenly moved to show my true position. May be a fluke but I think I'll try this next time I'm out and the Nav shows me off road.

Who says it can't be done-Post Highs here-over 25 miles traveled
joe replied to salprint's topic in Fuel Mileage
We took a trip last week which took 2 days on 70 mph interstates. We averaged around 37 mpg. When we arrived at our location (southern Georgia), we spent several days driving the local roads with speed limits of 50 to 65 mph. We got averages of 45 to 46.5 mpg. We now have 3,500 miles and the local mileage at home has creeped up. Today, I got 47 and 51 for local driving (each around 10 mile trips). -
MFT current version CMAX SEL, V3.1.3?
joe replied to JohnTrigger's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I too have attached my TomTom to the dash because the onboard Nav simply does not work correctly. I appear to drive off in the fields more than on the highway. -
My C-Max rebooted the second day we had the car. It appeared to be having GPS problems when it locked up and then rebooted. The GPS/Nav system has not worked very well. I wonder if the reboot screwed it up?

I didn't know I had automatic wipers!
joe replied to osiebosie's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
This is my first car with automatic wipers. At first, I thought, who needs it? But I finally drove some distance in which there was intermittant rain. They worked so great, that I didn't really notice them working as I drove down the highway. As rain collected on the windshield, whoosh, the windshield was wiped clean. -
IF you got navigation, it is probably the SD card containing the maps for the navigation. You insert it into the SD card slot in the center console where the USB and AV plugs are located (open up the center arm rest). Your dealer salesman should have set this up for you.

We had passengers in the back seat last week for the first time and they experienced the seat belts coming out of the guides.

Additional background. We drove 8 hours on Interestate with 70 mph limit. Averaged around 37 mpg, moderate to flat terrain. We used the ECO Cruise feature. I observed that although full EV mode only works up to 62 mph, the EV will provide assistance to the ICE above 62 mph. The key to obtaining 46.5 mph on local roads is getting up to speed limit and then backing off accelerator to get car into EV mode.

We've been driving around an area that is relatively flat, temps in the low 60s. Four people in the car. C-Max Hybrid - SEL. We got 46.5 mpg for a 36.5 mile trip. 16 EV miles and 2 Regen miles. 95% brake score.

Once I resized pictures to meet the requirement, I had no problems putting pictures on the screen. I would suggest placing pictures that are in the center and surrounded by a dark color so that your phone, radio, climate, and nav data in the four quatrants will standout. If you insert a very busy picture that covers the entire photo, the phone, radio, etc. data will get lost.

Ford Tech Response to Clock and Calendar Problems
joe replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
donhak, the only problem we've had with the C-Max (SEL) is the Nav. I tried inserting the latitude and longitude - hoping that would straighten things but that didn't work. I've attached my TomTom GPS to the dash because the Nav is so unreliable. I haven't taken it back to the dealer because no one on the forum who has taken it back to the dealer has had the problem resolved. I'm hoping that the alleged soon-to-be update will correct the problem. If not, I'll take it to the dealer and hope they can fix it. There is no real excuse for the Nav not to work. It's not like its new technololgy. On a plus side, I like the weather map. It has been really be good for trips. -
I uploaded a variety of pictures. It helps if the picture is 800 X 384. I used a program, Gimp, to size my pictures to the 800 X 384 size. I made the pictures in the JPG format. Some of the pictures are star fields, Dr. Who's Tardis, and Star Trek emblems. I made sure that the background was black so it would match the rest of the screen.

Today, I got out of the C-Max and noticed the parking lights were on. I got back in the car and recyled the process of starting and turning off the car (keeping foot off brake to turn off). (I have the keyless start system) Got out and locked the doors. Parking lights still on. I then got back in and pressed the starter without touching the brake. Then turned system off. Got back out, locked door, parking lights were out. When I returned to the car with my wife, she discovered that the passenger door was not closed completely We discovered that if the passenger door is ajar, the parking lights will stay on. I suspect that when I closed the driver's door the last time, it jiggled the passenger door closed enough to make the car think the passenger door was now closed. I don't know if this information helps, but it's something to consider.

I looked at my SEL and it has a plastic hatch cover the matches the interior color. There is also a cover on the right side. I did not notice these covers until I specifically looked for them.

I took delivery of my C-Max on 12/28. Looking at the system numbers, my nav is 2.15.17 with the SD version A-3 Map. Should I have 3.1.3 ?
-
I've been experiencing the same problem. It seems like it thinks I'm to the left or right of my position. It is very frustrating. I have my TomTom GPS on the counsel to ensure I always have accurate location available. I will try touching the screen to correct it.

According to the settings screen, I have NAV 2.15.17 Map databse A-3. The SD card says CT4T-19H449-AB, A3. Is this the most current SD Card?

MyTouch didn't want to shut off...
joe replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
The frustration is that there is no excuse for a GPS not to work correctly. The first time I used navigaion, after a few miles, it locked up, shut down, and then rebooted. I have reinitiated the SD card several times. As I driive the GPS will seem to work OK, but then suddenly shows me several hundred feet left or right from my posiiton and sometimes going in a different direction. I have inserted my TomTom on the dash when I really need to rely on GPS. I'm hoping the next upgrade will fix the problem. It looks silly having an external GPS but as long as the internal is not reliable, I have no choice. -
Our Mytouch GPS is not working very well. It thinks I'm about 1/2 mile to the left or right of where I am. I've had to use my old Tom Tom GPS. I've searched the Internet but I don't find a solution. There is talk of an upgrade coming soon. We love our C-Max, the way it handles, comfortable to sit in, and plenty of room inside. But this GPS arratic behavior is disappointing.

Today, I turned on the GPS without setting a destination but just see what it shows as I drive down the road. It kepted indicating the C-Max was off road by about 20-50 feet or more. Then it would hop onto the road like it should. After a few minutes, it would again show the car off road. It must be the GPS system, not the map, that is not working. I'm wondering if a software update would fix it or if it has more to do with the GPS tracking system..... There are no hills or buildings to cause this error.

Sync Freeze Issues (Navigation)
joe replied to seattlerain's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
We took a long drive today. The GPS crashed and locked the entire sync. Nothing would work. Couldn't change screens. After a few minutes, the sync crashed and rebooted. But several times today, the GPS showed us off the highway. Being a Microsoft system, I am expecting the blue screen of death. . . I've never seen a GPS system that is as buggy as this system. We took delivery of our C-Max last Friday. -
Today, we discovered our clock showed the wrong time. We manually reset it. We'll see if it changes again.

When we became interested in the C-Max, the epa numbers were not out yet. We bought the car because of factors other than mpg (cargo space, seating, features). It is going to replace an old mini van which gets 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. In reading through the different comments, I've learned to alter my driving habits which should help get good mpg. * Accelerate moderately, get up to speed (35 mph limit or higher) and then back off a little to get into EV mode. * Accelerate slower if speed limit is under 35 mph - I'm able to stay in ev mode. * Our C-max is garaged so even though its 35 degrees (F) outside, the car is around 55 degrees. So, I turn off the heat system and turn on the heated seats. This allows me to drive in ev mode right from the start. After about 5 minutes, and when the car needs to use the engine, I turn on the heater (engine is warmed up by now). Now I'm getting warm air without sacraficing ev mode at the beginning. * With only 250 miles so far, my Trip 1 is slowly growing - currently 35 mpg. But some short trips have indicated as high as 52 mpg, while some really short trips (less than 2 miles) have been as low as 25s mpg. Of course, temps, terrain, and driving habits all influence mpg. But when you do the math, the difference between 35/40/45 mpg isn't that much.

The dealer helped my wife sync her iPhone. Took less than a minute. It also uploaded her address book. And, if she comes back to the car with a new address on her iPhone, it syncs up with the C-Max.

We got our C-max last Friday. NAV has had us off road several times. Something that rarely would happen with my TomTom. And when its off road, it has no instructions, so if this happens when approaching a critical turn in the route, I'll probably miss turning. When it does work, I like having the option of instructions on the right side of the speedometer.
