  1. Winter is when I get the best fuel economy, given the South Florida situation. ;)
  2. I've not had a single battery issue with my 2013, which will be a year old next month. I sometimes do not drive for up to two weeks or so, and I never had an issue with the battery from the vehicle just sitting for that long. On the other hand, I have the SEL, and the battery issues have been more widely reported on the SE. Not that this is the answer, but it seems that at least a few of the battery problems have been on vehicles that have been sitting on the dealer lot for a long time, draining the battery, and possibly doing damage to it. Perhaps you can make the dealer put in a new battery on any of the vehicles that you are considering.
  3. If you take your foot off of the accelerator, allowing full EV mode, and then tap the pedal sharply enough, that should kick it out of EV and activate only ICE. I even do this when EV+ kicks in. You have to do it sharply and using enough power to goes beyond the EV threshold, but it can be done.
  4. If they keep the back dust free, consider my order placed!
  5. While your updating, I still don't see my 800+ tank on the list. :hat_tip:
  6. You should start producing these. I'd be interested in the window add on, and maybe even the spoiler (but in Oxford White fiberglass).
  7. Welcome aboard! Is there a chance that I might see you on the road? I live in Miami Beach.
  8. It is an adventure to drive around here, for sure.
  9. Doesn't Ford Roadside also extend for the life of a Ford Extended Warranty? I am considering purchasing the equivalent of a doughnut tire, and then also adding a receiver and a tire carrier or utility tray for long travel. I would have already done so, but this is not the kind of thing that I wish to leave on my car during times that I am not traveling. Since I live in a highrise condominium, it is not like I have a garage in which I can store the tire and carrier. Another approach, which I thought to be quite sensible, is to buy a tire repair kit with some plugs. I already had a AAA membership from before I bought my C-MAX. So, I figured that I could call AAA for something less than a complete blow out, letting them do the roadside repair, or I could call Ford Roadside in the case that I would have to go to the dealer for warrantied tire replacement. I keep going back and forth about what to do concerning this issue. :headscratch: Meanwhile, I depart for my cross-country trip by the first week of June. I have to decide something pretty soon.
  10. Let me throw this out there. I don't know what I am talking about, but I'd like somebody that does to please address something that has been on my mind out this discrepancy thing. I can't help but to think that the meter that is determining actual fuel use must be a pretty accurate piece of equipment, and that it bases its numbers from a source that is very close to where fuel is actually entering the engine. Couldn't the difference in fuel used be accounted for by things like evaporation and changes in temperature? Personally, I have had times where the gauge and the fuel pump are almost identical, but I have also had other times where there is a spread. I almost always fuel up at Costco, which I would imagine is a place that does a good job of maintaining their pumps. So, why would there be times where the two sources pretty much agree along with times where they don't? Before I even know that there was this issue, I started off by going by what the C-MAX gauge said when it came to adding my numbers to Fuelly. I am sticking with what I started. You can subtract a given fudge factor from my Fuelly stats, if you wish. I am sticking with the system that I have used from the beginning, and I am not going to worry about it too much.
  11. Since switching to a Hybrid, I see the road in a whole new way. I never realized just how aggressive so many drivers become on the roadways.
  12. I would think that the odds of getting two vehicles in a row with the battery problem would be very small. So, I'd go for the 2014, and not worry about it.
  13. I don't remember the thread, but search for reports of Woo noise or something like that. I know that this has been discussed not too long ago.
  14. I have not personally had an issue, but do take note of Joe and others (was it Jus, maybe Laurel?) that had the issue resolved by replacement of the defective component. As it also seems to be reported, the ones whose dealers do not replace the unit apparently have continued problems. My recollection of the thread was that there is a bad component every now and then.
  15. I was in a field that involved sales skills, and I was shocked at how easy it was to be heads above any competitors by just being competent. So, it is no surprise that you can confirm this. I'll bet that you are one of the few.
  16. That's the kind of thing I'd like to consider. It's just that the costs mount up if you add a trailer hitch receiver and carrier for the tire, which would be what I'd need to be able to fill the C-MAX but still bring the tire. How much was something like that Donut?
  17. Living in Miami, I am the last person to say anything about cold weather driving. However, when I start my C-MAX to leave home, I often have a good amount of battery charge from when I last parked. Since I live in a high rise with an underground parking garage, I EV through the garage to the exit gate (which involves a short climb), I exit out of lot, and I often go as much as a half mile or more on EV power. I just have to accelerate gently. Assuming you had to ICE up the hill to park the night before, wouldn't it be possible to carefully EV from the garage of a home at that top of a hill, and then glide down the hill without ICE firing up?
  18. That's what I've found. When I was in the mountains, it worked great. When going down modest slopes, nothing happened. It's been a while, but that's how I remember it. This is why, from what I recall, there is no harm in leaving it activated. I guess that they added the feature so that you can turn it off to increase speed while going downhill on a glide, for occasions where this is what you want to be able to do so.
