All of the carriers suck; it's just a question of which sucks least in any given location. -

Ford admits touchscreen defeat
ScubaDadMiami replied to valkraider's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I hardly ever resort to actually touching the screen. I do voice commands for almost everything. The improvements seem like improvements, to me. Some things make better sense in knob and button configurations, and those are the ones that are getting changed. I think it is progress and evolution, not defeat. The article's title makes it sound like the whole system is being scrapped. -
Sorry that you have problems like these.

MFT & Alternate Android Messengers
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
That's what I was thinking at first, but I didn't notice an Android update of recent. That doesn't mean that there wasn't an update; I probably just didn't notice. Thanks for the suggestions; I'll give them a try. I'll be looking forward to a MFT update with a fix. Knowing that there is an issue is the first step toward fixing the problem. So, I am glad that this has been identified as an issue. Thanks for your help! -

Tips for Renewing Sirius Radio Subcription
ScubaDadMiami replied to Laurel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I had Sirius, and it sounded great in a prior vehicle. I have nothing against it. However, it sounds horrible in the C-MAX. I thought about maybe getting the limited menu option for those very specific Sirius shows that could be worth it, but with the sound as it is, I probably won't ever find that option worthwhile. Smartphone Apps do what Sirius does but better, except for whatever can only be found on Sirius. For music, you can do Pandora, Spotify or others. I don't have to decide, but I can, anytime I want, decide exactly which artist and which song, if I want to be that specific. If I don't want to decide, I can play the equivalent of radio stations based on genre, artist type or mixed. At anytime (and for unlimited times), I can skip a song or permanently remove it so that I never have to deal with it again. There is not one single commercial or announcement, not even to announce a station. For news related listening, I use Apps like DoggCatcher, which I use for listening to Podcasts and things like NPR shows that I didn't have time to hear. I can go on Stitcher, and that lets me listen to all kinds of live radio broadcasts. There is already an App for iPhones that allows you to stream MSNBC, since you asked; the Android version is due out soon. Like I said, nothing against Sirius. Let's just say that I don't really have much to be for, either. -
MFT & Alternate Android Messengers
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
The problem was definitely MFT, not my phone. I went to settings, and when I touched the messages setting, the screen showed something like "Text Messaging Not Available on this Phone," or something like that. I deleted the phone from MFT, I deleted Sync from my phone, and I started anew. Just like the last time, I started getting texts again. I hope that this little incident was just a hiccup, and that it will not become a regular thing. Strange that it worked perfectly for so long, and that it suddenly started to do this after such a great run. -

I used to love Sirius, but I think that its day has come and gone. Why listen to what someone else decides? I use apps for podcasts, and I use Spotify for music; I stream both from my cell phone. Also, for some reason--maybe the noise cancellation, Sirius sounds terrible in my C-MAX. I haven't renewed, and I don't plan on doing so. -
We'll only know about long-term after several years. However, I just posted a report on where things stand for me at 7,500 miles. Still loving my C-MAX, even if it isn't for long enough to give you the final answer. I would absolutely buy again! :love_shower:

MFT & Alternate Android Messengers
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Hmmm, I wonder if somehow the Message Notification on MFT got turned off. I have to re-check that. Maybe--I hope--it's as simple as that. -
From day one, I never had problems with receiving text messages, until recently. I've never had a problem streaming music or receiving or sending phone calls--even now. I am starting to think that the problem is with my Galaxy Note II's stock messenger app, or that there is some Android setting (which I have tried to figure out) that needs a change. I have no idea why it suddenly became an issue after having no issues ever before. I have already unpaired, deleted the contacts, re-paired and re-added the contacts back to MFT. That seemed to work for a trip or two. I don't get texts that often, so I am not sure how long after this experiment that it worked, but it certainly was not more than a week or so. I just restarted the phone, but I haven't been driving when receiving a text since doing this. If it turns out to be a phone app issue, I would like to consider getting a new messenger app from the Play Store. Does anybody have recommendation of a favorite a Messenger App that works particularly well with MFT? Does anybody have an experience with using alternative Messenger Apps with MFT? Thanks for your help.

This won't be a very exciting report, because there isn't much in the way of bad things that I have to say about my 2013 C-MAX Hybrid, at the 7,500 mile mark. My C-MAX SEL 303A with Panoramic Roof arrived in the end of May 2013. Since my purchase, the only modifications or upgrades I have made to my C-MAX are: Installation of a ProClip with included power connection for my smartphone, adding a CanvasBack cover to the rear cargo area, and installation of Wet Okole seat covers. I added a covering to the dead pedal by cutting a piece of plastic door mat and then attaching it to the carpet with Velcro. Lastly, I added a custom license tag. I have a bunch of LED bulbs that I bought back when everybody was doing the bulb change-outs; I plan on getting to that project, one of these days. I am very happy with the small changes I have made to my C-MAX. They make it even more comfortable and easier to use. The phone mount keeps things clean, and I don't have power cords cluttering up the area. The seat covers add additional padding to the seat, which is great on long trips. The seat covers and cargo area covers are easy to clean, and they keep my interior looking like new. At the time of my vehicle's arrival, the only known issue was the need for the update for the kick activation for the liftgate. As it turned out, my C-MAX was one of the last to leave the factory with this problem; my dealer was able to perform the update within a few weeks of delivery. Since that time, the only other problem of my C-MAX involved the Panoramic Roof cover. Whenever I would try to close it, the cover would close but then bounce back open by about a foot. The dealer changed out a bad part, and there has been no problem since. As far at MFT goes, I have been pretty lucky. I have used the system to successfully navigate from Miami to the mountains of western North Carolina, over to Savannah, Georgia, and back down to Miami. Before the most recent update, I did have some rebooting "updating" issues after vehicle shutdown--never during actual operation or navigation. Since that update, however, there has not been a single rebooting incident. I use the steering wheel paddles and voice commands for almost everything I do. That system has been excellent in performance, with only a few times that things like spoken addresses need some fixing after dictation. There is one thing has recently developed. Although I never had a problem with receiving text messages on MFT, for some reason, I am suddenly not getting text messages from my phone coming up on MFT. I unpaired and repaired my phone, which worked for a while, but the problem has surfaced again. I have recently rebooted my phone. I'll have to see if that does the trick. Strange that this surfaces after never having an incident before. More to come on this issue, if it continues. My Lifetime numbers are pretty good, just over 48 MPG. This includes mostly city driving but with some good highway road trips, too. During the winter in South Florida, when I ride without using the air conditioner, I get fantastic numbers, good enough to allow me to become a member of the 800+ Mile Club (63+ MPG for the tank). So, I can't complain about the C-MAX real world fuel economy! Overall, I love my C-MAX. It rides great, has great technology, and holds a lot in the cargo area. Okay, there is one thing I still hate, and that is the dead pedal. I hate that thing, especially the decision to put it on the driver's side! So, there you have it. My results are anecdotal, but you now have one more blip on the reporting scale that you can analyze.

C-MAX Fuel Mileage. What are you getting?

Depending on the steepness and distance, I typically make a 2 Bar burn for this type of thing. If it is really steep but not too long, I can go as high as 3.- 99 replies

I didn't think that it would be that big of a deal, because there is another lady that does it in my building, and another one from two buildings away, but people are pointing, smiling, and stopping me to ask questions. I love being able to take him with me wherever I go. -

One of the weakest features of this web site is the frustration of dealing with pictures. I really hope that someone fixes this. In the end, try creating a Gallery. Load the picture there, and then use the My Media button to insert into a post.

The C-Max Bar - The Best Place to Greet & Talk
ScubaDadMiami replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Just wanted to show everyone the new stretch limo that I added to the fleet. I finally found something that gets even better fuel economy than the C-MAX, although it comes at a great sacrifice to power. Because Slowpoke is such a slowpoke (which is fine for hiking, but not so fine for cardio), I decided to get him one of these. We took our maiden journey, earlier today. I walked him on the leash for about 20 minutes, and when I tired of the pace, in he went. He was nervous at first, but he was asleep by the time I passed the one mile mark. I try to walk for exercise. I really enjoyed our walk today. I am so glad that I finally got this.
