  3. People are commenting mostly about having the sun roof or not, but as far as the choice by color alone, I always preferred light color cars. In my opinion, I believe that dark color cars are less visible and less noticeable than lighter color cars to other drivers and pedestrians at night time. I wanted an ice storm C-Max, but accepted an in-stock ruby red instead of a three month wait for a factory order ice storm. I can't quote any studies to back up this belief. Maybe color doesn't matter much with all the side lights, running lights and reflectors scattered all over the car. Are black color cars significantly hotter in the sun in summer than lighter color cars? I've been satisfied with the ruby red, and in reality it's probably not that much lighter color than black. I don't feel like my C-Max is a "stealth" color, but I do sigh when I see an ice storm color vehicle. Just my 2 cents, your opinion may vary.
  4. I have a C-Max Energi with the large soft-sided folding cargo organizer (Ford part No: AE5Z-78115A00) in the cargo area. The organizer blocks the little convenience lights at the lower sides of the cargo area. The cargo organizer was in total darkness at night, and I could not see inside grocery bags placed inside the organizer. I purchased the 3 Watt Round Dome LIght LED Fixture, Part No: TDL-W3 | UPC: 84778103514 from Superbrightleds.com for $9.95 plus $6.25 shipping. Installation was about an hour, see the following photos for details. The light only comes on when the hatch is opened, it does not come on when the side doors are opened. This dome light is low profile, so I do not think that it will get in the way when I put things in or out of the cargo area. It is pleasantly bright, but not overwhelming. Being LED, the dome light does not generate any appreciable heat and does not get warm at all. A nice little addition, which should have been standard equipment in my opinion, even if you don't have the cargo organizer extra light back there from above would always be welcome. Front view of dome light Rear view of dome light Headliner pulled down, held open by a rolled-up towel. Headliner pulls down easily, don't be afraid to just yank on it. Positioning the dome light on the "wrong" side of the headliner. The round white trim bezel is removed from the dome light before mounting it. With an awl, I then punched holes in the headliner for the wires and mounting bolts. Dome light secured in place with bolts, fender washers and toothed lock washers, not supplied, you have to supply your own bolts, nuts and washers. I used two 1" long round-head 6-32 bolts. Note the doughnut shaped magnet that holds the headliner in place when it is in its normal position and not pulled down. I had to splice a couple feet of wire to the leads of the dome light, that's yellow heat shrink tubing that you see in the photo. I ran the wire down to the side cargo light on the driver's side and spliced into the wires just behind the socket and wrapped with electrical tape. I would have used vampire taps, but my junk box was too messy to locate some! Red wire of the new dome light spliced into the brown wire with green stripe. White wire of the new dome light spliced into the white wire with blue stripe. Because the dome light uses LED's, it will not work if the polarity of the wires is reversed. Here's a photo of the cargo organizer illuminated by the new dome light. You can see a little bit of (useless) light from the original OEM side cargo convenience light at the left end of the cargo organizer.   7. From the Focus Fanatics website post mentioned above: "Ford has been using "auto-training" tpms sensors for a few years now. If you just want the warning light to go out, no programming is needed. You can train them by position if you like, but, since our cars do not display which tire is low it doesn't make much of a difference." So you are correct, training is not really needed. I have been training TPMS sensors for years and I just assumed that I had to do it on my C-Max. I was not aware that the TPMS trains itself and doesn't really need to know its left front from right rear, because it just says that a tire is low, not which one is low.

I would be interested in retrofitting the British Ford brand sliding console lid to my car. Anyone have any further experience with modifying their console armrest to extend it or make it slide or who have fitted the British part?

  12. The first thing that I tried was to wrap a piece of "fuzzy" self-adhesive velcro around the stylus, and stick a piece of self-adhesive "hook" velcro on the dash. The velcro did not stick very well to either the stylus or the dash and kept peeling off. This is why I went with the magnets. You may be able to get the velcro to stick better than I was able to, Gorilla Glue maybe? I tried storing the stylus by sticking it in the air vent just to the left of the touch screen, but the stylus almost fell entirelly into the air vent a couple times, so I abandoned that way of storing the stylus. Plus it limited how you could point or tilt the air vent. You could always consult with your cardiologist, mnrobitaille, to see if using magnets in this way would be a danger to your pacemaker. It seems a simple thing that Ford could have done to provide a little tube in the dashboard beside the touch screen, like a tiny cigar tube or test tube, to drop a stylus into for storage.
  13. CDs and DVDs are entirely optical, the information on them is stored in a non-magnetic way using microscopic bumps which are read by laser light. Magnets would not cause any ill effects on a CD or DVD. Otherwise there seems to be little risk in using these magnets to hold a stylus to the dashboard.
