  1. I use the Gas Cubby on my iPhone. You can keep track of all your fuel/mileage/maintenance and car details/specifications. You can keep track of more than one car also.
  2. Have you noticed the pen holder in the glove box?
  3. I read the manual some more and not sure where I (or we) got the double kick idea, but I just tried it a few more times with a single kick and the liftgate seems to work the way it should. Apparently, the second kick of a double kick is stopping the liftgate. So, for all those having problems, try a single kick and see how that works.
  4. I've experienced the same problem with my SEL. Here's what I think is happening. There is this note on page 78: "Note: Allow the power system to open the liftgate. Manually pushing or pulling the liftgate may activate the system’s obstacle detection feature and stops the power operation." The interesting part here is the mention of an obstacle detection feature. I don't know if the detection system is actual contact with the liftgate or a proximity detection, but I can get the liftgate to work properly if I make sure I stay away from the bumper area after the double kick. I've noticed that when I do the double kick and then make sure I am away from the bumper area, the liftgate will open. Sometimes I have to repeat the double kick 2 or 3 times. The liftgate will start to lift then stop until I make sure I am away from the bumper and then it will open. Experiment a little with different distances from the bumper when you do the double kick.
  5. Page 179 of the owner's manul has this statement: "Your hybrid high voltage battery may periodically re-condition itself to ensure maximum efficiency. You may notice slight changes in drivability during this process, but it’s an important part of your hybrid’s high voltage battery optimization features." Does anyone know what the re-conditioning consists of and what if any affect there is on drivability?
  6. Took a 50 mile drive down the turnpike last night and here are a couple of observations. At 70 mph, AC off, cruise control on, I was getting about 40 MPG. With the AC on it was about 38 MPG. At 65 mph, there was about a 10% increase in mileage to 44 mpg (AC off). If I let the speed drop to 61-62 mph the electric motor would cycle during cruise. I couldn't stay there very long as the traffic was pretty thick at times. I think the 47 mpg advertised would be attainable at a speed 62 mph or below. However, I am still very happy with the 40 mpg at 70 and 44 mpg at 65. The car is still breaking in with just over 500 miles. Something interesting to note, while the battery was charging during the initial part of the cruise, the mileage was more like 35 mpg until the battery reached a steady state charge of about 80% then the mileage went up to 40 mpg at 70 mph. So far, I like the C-Max a lot. I said this several months ago, Ford is going to sell a ton of these cars.
  7. One more tidbit, just looked up my Ford '04 Escape, GVWR 4380 lbs, with a combined weight of cargo/occupants of 899 lbs.
  8. Some additional information from a second placard: “The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 374 kg or 825 lbs.” That leaves just over 500 lbs with me and my wife.
  9. Just looked at the placard on my C-Max SEL, GVWR 2106 kg, 4641 lbs.

  12. Havn't seen any (besides mine) along the Treasure Coast in Florida. The dealers around here are selling the C-Max has fast as the arrive on the lot.

  14. Washed and waxed my one week old C-Max SEL today. I must say, Ford is getting pretty good at their painting. I was hard pressed to find maybe one tiny flaw on the entire car. I only noticed it because I waxed the car, but it looked like maybe a piece of dust or small grain of dirt in the paint or underneath the clear coat. That's it. Well done.
  15. I've had my C-Max SEL for just about a week with almost 400 miles. Mostly around town driving I'm seeing consistently around 50+ MPG for trips under 10 miles. I do have to work at it being careful with the gas pedal, lightly applying the brake when I'm coming to a stop, and when no one is behind me I'll try to accelerate on electric only. If someone is behind I'll accelerate normally usually with the gas engine running. Overall impression - very happy so far. My overall average MPG is hovering around 44 MPG. That's with my wife driving it a few times and I think she just mashes the gas pedal and goes. I researched the EPA tesing procedures and I think it might be unrealistic to think we can consistently achieve those numbers based on the fact the tests are done in a controlled environment, in a lab, no wind resistance and no other traffic around. However, I'm seeing numbers very close to that and the car is still breaking in. Have fun with your car.
  16. I looked in my manual and it says 30000 miles (48000 km). Make sure you count all the zeros and check the km number, should be 48,000.
