  1. I'm headed back to the service bay on this one. I stopped by as they were closing yesterday, and the one and only "sync guru" dude couldn't figure it out, so looks like it needs further attention. Boo hiss. Hopefully nothing major.
  2. Yes, Wingrider, i deleted the profile on the phone and the car. Phone shows discoverable, but it never actually pairs with the car. Bummer.
  3. Yes, the iPhone say it's discoverable but I just get the searching circle loop on both the phone and the car console. I deleted the sync profile from the phone to avoid confusing the car, but that doesn't seem to have helped matters.
  4. I jinxed myself. Well I never should have posted "good job Ford engineers" following my car's update yesterday, because now my phone won't sync or be recognized at all. Help? I have an iPhone 4s, bluetooth is turned on, and I've deleted the phone from the car's history to start fresh. When I attempt to add a new device, I keep getting the "timeout" message that no phone is found or is not discoverable. Dang you, Ford engineers! Has anyone else had this problem, or can anyone suggest something short of going back to the dealership? Grrrrrr...
  5. Noah, the 3.5.1 doesn't exactly have "playlists" per se, and I haven't yet tried the voice controls to select tracks. What was not working before 3.5.1 for me was no track or artist names appearing on the console. It would either say, "unknown" or stay stuck on a track that I'd played a few days before, even though that was not the song playing. You might go into settings>>options>> media player>>and select cover flow priority from player, not gracenotes. If that doesn't work, try gracenotes.
  6. I had an interesting experience when I got upgraded yesterday for 3.5.1 and also for the liftgate. (I wasn't having nav problems that I'm aware of, but sync sure was buggy.) I first made an appointment with the dealer I purchased my car from-- they told me it would take "less than 2 hours" to complete all service. Because they are 100 miles away, I decided to go to my local dealer instead. They did this yesterday, and it took over 5 hours to complete. The service manager said that, "they've been having problems with the upgrade installs" and it doesn't always go as planned. The first dealer told me each of the two upgrades should take 30 minutes; the second one said each should take 2 hours, and it was actually 5 hours. So maybe there is a slowdown in scheduling these because it would tie up too much dealer time? I'm not saying that's a justification of any sort, but it was enlightening. HTH.
  7. Plus3, do you have any tips for how you got yours working? The only thing I didn't do that the OM suggested was to replace your original clicker with a fresh battery, since it's a weird one that requires a trip to Radio Shack. I've read others saying they've never gotten it to work. Any help appreciated.
  8. Nice, mtb! Those are some impressive numbers, esp since you live in an uber-hilly area. (But I guess most natives know how to get around without climbing all the hills?) I'd be curious to see what the dealer says about erratic FE. I got the upgrade today and am loving some of the bugs now fixed!
  9. Good job, Ford engineers! I just got my car's MFT upgraded to 3.5.1 today, and it does seem to have fixed a few things: The very good news: 1. My streaming bluetooth now accurately picks artists and track names from my iPhone 4s. I didn't have to go into iTunes and delete random metadata, which is what a few others suggested worked for them. YAY! 2. Bluetooth controls now work from the entertainment console. I can stop, rewind, skip, etc. using the dash controls rather than with my hands on the phone. This is a huge improvement for me, as I listen almost exclusively to streaming podcasts or music in the car, and no longer need to operate my phone to do this. Hurray for safety! (Ford: if you're reading this, why not consider an enhancement to permit 30 second rewind from MFT controls, as Apple does natively? Pretty please?) The annoying, but easily fixed news: 3. The upgrade wiped out all my navigation history and destinations. Not unexpected, but a pain to program again. 4. As others noted, clock time was off by a random amount (not whole hours, but hours + minutes) The annoying and can't yet figure out how to fix it news: 5. My garage opener thingy that I finally got working no longer works. No idea why the upgrade would have affected this, or maybe it's just coincidence. Anybody else have trouble with this feature on their SEL? OM instructions not working for me.

  11. I downloaded this and found it pretty useless. Like so many other iOS apps, one swing through and I deleted it.
  12. Yup, same thing happened to me but it was more than one hour off. One hour and maybe 20 mins, not the whole hour. But hey! I now have 3.5.1 and it's fixed some weird things so I'm a happy camper.
  13. Salsa, I bought my car with 3700 miles on the odometer, so my mileage reflects what is probably closer to the 8th tank for my car over its lifetime. My Fuelly avg only reflects the single tank I've purchased in the two weeks I've owned her ;-) Hold up the revolt! (But do pay attention to how you drive!) Most of those miles I obtained because I've been reading this forum for tips. Honestly, I was quite surprised it was as high as it was.
  14. Wah wah waaaaah! We will hopefully be joined soon by more members of the Cult of Ruby Red. ;-) Honestly, I found most of the other colors too masculine, when combined with the interior and styling cues. My first impression when I test drove the CMAX was, "Hey hire some women into that design group, Ford!" The only thing I don't love about this color is its propensity to show dirt-- my old car was forest green and a pretty good chameleon.
  15. Veeery interesting, dtorres! Thanks for the sleuthing-- that makes sense. I do notice that when there are random characters the MFT display sometimes inserts a series of question marks like so "???" But other times when it plays the exact same song from the same source with the same metadata, it does get the title and artist right. I do believe I have a poltergeist in my cmax. This is probably an impossible expectation, but does anybody know if there are plans to include any sort of background art or cover flow in the future, rather than just displaying a big, ugly bluetooth symbol? Has anybody changed the background successfully, and if so, let us know how you did it?
  16. Yes, and the behavior has gotten even more random this past week. If I was listening to FM when I shut off, I sometimes get a random Sirius station, or vice versa. It's never the one I was last listening to, even if it was FM-- it would switch stations. More often it switches bands. I'm headed in for the 3.1.5 upgrade on Monday, so hopefully the MFT Poltergeist will exit my vehicle ;-) One other odd artifact I've noticed-- when I stream BT through my phone, I need to raise the volume significantly. (I have iTunes sound check on in computer settings, so all music from phone plays at same volume.) But if I switch to Sirius or FM, it's at least 3x as loud as when streamed through mBT from my iPhone 4s. Anyone else have this particular CMAX poltergeist?
  17. Most excellent mileage! Welcome to the Cult of Ruby Red! You're gonna love this...let us know how you go as time goes on.
  18. Thanks, valkraider and ceemax71. The good news is that the good people in the service department of my local dealer have agreed to hang the bracket and plate, no charge. I have an appointment for Monday, at which point I will get the MFT upgrade and a liftgate software upgrade as well. Oddly, as soon as I pulled out of the dealership's service bay (before they did anything to my car), my display went completely blank (even backup camera), and later displayed a message that the software was being updated. I wonder if some of the components of the upgrade are automatically downloaded? Dealer said each upgrade takes approximately 2 hours to do, so I kind of doubt it.
  19. Wow, Doug; you sure are knowledgeable! I'm beginning to think that you have those pages in the OM committed to memory...jk; very helpful indeed. I've reset the lifetime miles so it reflects my driving, and not the previous owners who were foolish enough to sell this vehicle with barely 4000 miles on her. Thanks again for the help.
  20. Thanks, ceemax71. I might be better off driving the 100 miles to the original dealership-- they told me that you need a special rivet-puncher-thingy and a lot of experience to do it right, as you have to pierce the bumper and shoot the holder thingy in there correctly. (Very technical explanation!) I wish they would just revoke the law for this so I don't have to violate my bumper!
  21. Thank you, fotomoto! I finally found this setting. It's only available on the right hand side of the split screen in My View, is this correct? My left hand side still shows avg, which I've now just reset so it reflects my driving. Do I have that right, or is there a way to change the avg to instantaneous on left side? Either way, I'm better informed now so thanks!
  22. Does anyone know how to display instantaneous MPG in My View? I have it enabled, but can't seem to find a way to display it in this view. The closest I come is split power on the left, which still displays lifetime avg MPG, and 2 minute graph on the right. Since I purchased this car with 3800 miles on it, I want to be able to track MY usage since purchase, not lifetime. FWIW, lifetime avg is 37.9 at 4400 miles, while my single tank has gotten over 49 mpg avg. See Fuelly sig below.
  23. Thanks, guys. The dealer I purchased from is not in the same state I live in, which explains why there was no bracket and hardware! Now I have to go tho the local dealer (from whom I cancelled my order after waiting 8 weeks!) and beg for a frame and bracket at no charge. This is gonna be awkward!
  24. Welcome, Metroman! You're gonna love your new car no matter the color. I'm with your wife-- I have the ruby red with light stone interior ;-) I think they all heat up regardless of the seat colors due to the large windshield. I'm going to check into the sun shade someone here posted that looks like a really good fit, if a little spendy. Please post your thoughts and impressions when you take delivery.
