The next day I drove the Escape equivalent, a Lincoln MKC. It was love at first sight! I'd never given Lincoln much of a thought since JFK died in one, but this was a hugely appealing little crossover. Besides full seat cushion adjustments, it had better handling, power, interior quality and options than the Escape. I brought it to my wife and we agreed to buy one, if not that one. But on the ride back to the dealership, I confirmed my impression that the heated seats weren't doing anything. The saleslady, a Ford owner, agreed. Further online research reveals that Lincoln's "heated/cooled seats" are actually neither- they're ventilated with fan-driven interior air, lacking a resistance heating element like normal seats. These premium seats are installed in all but the most basic Lincolns. If this doesn't matter to you, you ought to give Lincoln a look. The price is lower than other luxury marques, and the warranty is longer than Ford offers.

Were you looking at used MKC's or the new Lincoln Corsair?

  2. The weather is a big factor in mpg's, too cold and the engine runs to supply the heater, too warm and you run the AC to keep cool.

When the temps are in the high 60's and we are not running the heater or AC our mpg's can go up to 65mpg.  So we usually avg. about 50 mpg  in the summer

and avg. about 40 in the winter.  Our lifetime is 44.7mpg.

Learning the best way to drive the c-max certainly helps.

Take a look at this video from Paul

  3. I think the airbag light was on mine too.  It was under warranty so I didn't work on the problem at all.  But the tech told me of the

wires pulled out of the connector and he assured me that they redressed the wire harnesses so it wouldn't happen again.

Since it is tied to the airbags if I was going to work on it I would disconnect the 12V battery and examine the connectors

under the driver seat checking that all the connectors are fully seated.

  4. fbov, You are describing all the steps to go through in designing a switch circuit and the need for a place to put the switch, So yes it is possible but not for the the lay-man.

Too much work to make it worth it.   If you haven't worked with high voltage before not recommended.

You could hire an engineer to design/fabricate a switch for you but the costs would be prohibitive.

But, people do crazy stuff like this all time and some of them actually get their diy projects working.

    More power to them.

  5. I updated it myself from 3.08 to 3.10 so as you say the difference may be a firmware upgrade that hasn't been done.

This was about the time Ford turned off the ability to download the latest version off the Ford website.

Ford said if you want 3.10 go to a ford dealer but I downloaded it off the internet and it installed with any issues.
