DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
Phil1336 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Here we go again. Took Delivery of my 2013 C-MAX yesterday and instructed Dealership to activate/enable the Daytime Running Lights, DRL`s. Same old crap. Can`t be done. Only "Canadian" and Fleet Ordered Vehicles that were ordered with option # 942 for $45 have this ability. BCM does not allow DRL activation using the IDS programmer computer. Going to another Ford Dealership next week. They (will) be activated if they need to get a software patch or program shipped down here from Detroit or Windsor, Canada. -
I think if you have the 2013 SE C-MAX in standard basic trim MSRP $25,995 it comes with simply 200A Package. 201A is Foot operated LIftgate, Ambient Lighting and Rear Bumper Parking Sensors, 202A is MFT with Sirius Radio, and 203A is all the above plus voice activated Navigation. My $75 Garmin nuvi with Lifetime Map Updates for U.S. and Canada works fine when I need it.

Odd that you can add on and reprogram a Remote Start but (cannot) add on or reprogram DRL`s, Daytime Running Lights. What`s that all about? Some choices are permitted and others, not so much.

Scientific testing has been done an determined that there (is) a difference in temperature recorded in the cars interior parked in 100` conditions. Coolest combination was a White Vehicle with Tan/Beige fabric interior. Hottest combination was a Black Vehicle with Black/Charcoal Grey fabric interior. Temperature difference...? 6 Degrees!

Just picked up my new 2013 C-MAX yesterday, (Aug. 2) in Melbourne, FL and Kelly Ford said that they did`nt have have the new update yet to install? I`ll check another Dealer closer to Palm Beach in a few weeks since the selling Dealership was 2 hours away. Rather then doing a Dealer Swap to get the Vehicle I was looking for, figured I might as well put on the first 125 miles then have someone else do it for me. I knew they were`nt going to Tow it on a Flatbed for an X-Plan Sale.

I just purchased a 2013 Ford C-MAX yesterday July 31 and am picking it up tomorrow, Aug.2. SE Hybrid with the 202A Package, period! I know I`m making a Deal with the Devil all because I have enjoyed Sirius/XM Satellite Radio in previous Vehicles. Unfortunately, you can`t simply "upgrade" from Standard Radio to Sirius/XM without getting not only the kitchen SYNC, but My Ford Touch as well. I hope I can simply enjoy driving this Vehicle while listening to Sirius/XM (without) having to endure endless frustration with "MFT"and all the unwanted added Technology simply to get satellite Radio. I will soon see.

JAZ: I already looked for it in the C-MAX 2014 Order Guide. It was only available like Daytime Running Lights, Option # 942 for Fleet Purchase Only requiring a valid Fleet Identification Number "FIN" and I`m doing a Retail Purchase using the X-Plan. Don`t you just (hate) when that happens? Hopefully by late January when I take delivery, they will have already upgraded to Version Gen1 - 4.3.0F I`m soooo excited, the anticipation is killing me! Maybe it will evolve from MF (non-Touch) to MFT to MF (Super Duper) Touch? Now, if they can let their Engineers concentrate on improving reports of disappointing gas mileage and battery issues and find a way to include an Emergency Spare Donut Tire and Jack Kit instead of the toy air compressor and the $.99 Can of Tire Sealant Goo, that would be an "update" everyone would truly enjoy.

I think Henry Ford had it right. You can have your Vehicle in any Color you like just as long as its "Black"! I guess, in the very near future, the only choices will be Black, White, and 50 Shades of Grey. How exciting....No Pun Intended!

I guess I must be the only aging Baby Boomer/ Dinosaur that does`nt embrace all this gadgetry and technology. I truly want to purchase a 2014 Ford C-MAX Hybrid SE (without) SYNC or My Ford "with or without" Touch! Could I simply exchange all the above for a Sirius/XM Satellite Radio which I truly would use and enjoy? If your own a simple portable $70 Garmin GPS, and have no desire to "bluetooth" with your cell phone while driving, don`t intend to upload/download music files with a MP3 Plug In or iPhone, why does one need to concern themselves with when the latest Software update is going to be released to enhance your driving experience? Some of us just what a Hybrid for better fuel economy and environment reasons and can wait until we get home to "Like" someone on Facebook or send a Tweet to someone on Twitter! #enoughisenough

I`m about to order a 2014 Ford C-Max SE Hybrid when the Order Book opens on Wed Sept. 18. Unless there is a last minute amended and updated 2014 C-MAX Order Guide, zero changes. Here`s my issue. I have no use and do not want SYNC or MFT with 3.5 update or 10.5 update. Even in the SE Trim Level, you have but 3 choices. Package 220A Standard Equipment including SYNC and MF(no Touch). 201A gives you a Power Rear foot operated Lift gate and Closure, Ambient Interior Lighting, and Rear Bumper Proximity Sensors, (But) No Rear View Monitor Display, "SEL" only, sorry. Package 202A gets you Sirius/XM Satellite Radio and what else for $600? If you Order 201A, you can`t get Sirius/XM Satellite Radio? If you order 202A, you can`t get the Power Rear foot operated Lift gate and the Rear Bumper Proximity Sensors? Oh, you want it all or (almost) all? Package 203A in addition to 201A and 202A gets you Front Bumper Proximity Sensors and Navigation but still (no) Rear View Monitor Display, again SEL only. Hope you prefer Leather Seats in Florida and Arizona when its 100` plus outdoors! Curious how both Hyundai and Kia can offer Sirius/XM Satellite Radio as Standard Equipment on their cheapest 14K and 15K Accent and Rio but Ford makes it so difficult to get Sirius/XM Satellite Radio on a 27K car, Just asking.....That satellite module must be awfully expensive for Ford to include on their radios. Not so much though in Canada where Ford often includes the Sirius/XM Radio as Standard Equipment at no extra cost

Not to be a Kill Joy and rain on anyones Parade of their love of exotic and (chameleon) Colors that appears to change shades depending on lighting, not (if) but (when) the Vehicle requires Auto Body ae: paint repair, its going to be a nightmare to get an exact match even from a "expert" Shop. True, these tri-coats and metallics are lovely (but) they are very difficult to replicate to make touchups or repairs.

I`m sad that the Ford C-MAX was not available in the similar but distinct Greenish Hue in the Paint Color Frosted Glass. MY 2013 was the end of the line for that Paint Color as it was discontinued on the Ford Escape, the last Model to offer it. I`m ordering a MY 2014 C-MAX and probably would pay the extra cost upgrade for the Ruby Red (but) my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback has the Candy Red Metallic which is very much alike, not quite as deep a shade of Red. I`m soo tired of "50 Shades of Grey", White and Black. Guess I`ll have to settle on Ice Storm as my only real option. Don`t like the "blueish" hue on Ice Storm as I prefer the translucent Metallic Green of the discontinued color Frosted Glass but at no extra cost I can live with it. Reminds me of the blueish tint in Older Women with greying white hair. Here in South FL thats a common sight.

A lot of times, Dealers will often use an earlier Sale Date for up to a week before actual delivery takes place in order for a Customer to use a expiring special rebate cash offer. Who would not rather lose a weeks worth of Warranty Coverage in exchange for an earlier delivery date to save an extra $750 or $1000 that would be lost with an expired Vincent Code #.

What is going to happen to these unsold C-Maxes?
Phil1336 replied to Laurel's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Whatever those "assembly improvements/issues/ and (stuff behind the scenes) will have to be addressed "Very Quickly" since MY 13 JOB 1 Last Date is Nov. 29 and MY 14 JOB 1 Date begins on Dec. 2 two days later, lol. -

First of all, Nice Dog! Seems that Enterprise Car Rental is the primary source. They have already listed a Used C-MAX for sale in IL with very low mileage. Would like to grab a low milage used "Fleet" C-MAX locally (if) the price was right. -
I`m ordering a 2014 C-MAX on Sept 18 when the Order Book opens. True, no changes whatsoever but I figure at this late date, why not gain on one years less depreciation with a newer Model year? Prices and rebate incentives should remain pretty close, IMO.

Buyers waiting for the 2014 C-MAX will only gain a different VIN#. MY 14 Order Guide shows "Zero" changes for the next Model Year run. -

I hope they do. It`s the only way you can get the Daytime Running Lights unless its a Fleet purchase! -
I`m ordering a MY 14 C-MAX in Sept. "SE" with 202 Package. I don`t want Leather Seats for "free". Too hot for South FL. The Fog Lights look better then the Black knock-out plugs but, how often are they ever used? IMO, the Chrome Trim (surround) the side windows on the SEL is not attractive at all. The Black Moulding blends better with the Vehicle`s profile. Odd the MY 14 Fusion gets the Rear-Camera Monitor standard in (all)Trim levels, C-MAX awaits MY15, I guess.
-
Subject to any updated changes to the MY 2014 C-MAX Order Guide, besides the fact that "Zero" changes are planned for next years Production Run, they are (not) going to include the Rear View Camera Monitor as Standard Equipment on all Model Trim Lines. Odd, the MY 2014 Fusion has added this feature as Standard Equipment on (all) Trim Levels but Ford deemed it not necessary for inclusion with its MY 2014 C-MAX? Guess they plan an early "refresh" for MY 2015?

Funny, I notice a Brand New 2013 Ford C-MAX lined up with a dozen others on a local Ford Dealerships lot here in South FL and noticed along with the optional Moon Roof option, it had the Winter Cold Weather Package too. Heated exterior mirrors and seats for South FL? I figured, someone screwed up and entered the wrong Option Code # when the Vehicle was ordered. I then noticed it was originally ordered and delivered to a Ford Dealership in upstate NY and somehow must have gotten swapped to the Dealership down here over 1200 miles away! Wonder how long that C-MAX will linger unless the buyer likes everything else and figures the extra cost is worth the 10 week wait to special order.

DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
Phil1336 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I guess what your interested in is the LED DRL`s, not simply having the Canadian Spec Daytime Running Lights that engage your Low Beam Head Lamps at 80% output when the Vehicle is running and the Tail Lamps are not. That should be a 10 minute mouse click away at your Dealership using the Vehicles smart junction box and the IDS Programmer and making the changes in the Body Control Module. Some previous Post have said that Ford removed the software to enable/activate DRL`s on US Spec Cars but in the Lincoln Blog, one owner complained repeatedly to his selling DEalership and after weeks of demanding the DRL`s be enabled, suddenly the Service Department contacted the Ford Tech Support folks who provided the magic trick to activate the DRL`s. Software Patch or perhaps authorization to allow the DRL`s to be enabled? Funny, its available for Fleet Buyers only with a valid "FIN" # and is just a $45 option in the Order Guide but retail purchasers in the US can`t order them, go figure? -

Phil1336 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Best bet would be if you can retrofit the "knock-out plugs" where the SEL Fog Lamps are installed with an appropriate LED Daytime Running Light Configuration regardless if it requires a separate Power Module, is to ask your local Ford Dealer`s Service Department if they would splice in and do the install for a nominal Labor Charge. I`d rather pay 1 hours Labor plus (shop materials) and have the Dealership responsible if they chose to make the retrofit. That way, should another component fail attributed to the LED DRL`s, you would have some "redress" that the Dealership did the installation and you assumed that (they) would have refused to install the Unit if they thought it might interfere with the Vehicles functionality. Chancing the loss of a New Vehicle Warranty to save a few dollars with a DIY Installation makes no sense. I`d also avoid any (non) Ford Dealership too. An Outfit that specializes in custom Radio and Electronic upgrades will be of no help either. Ford would just consider them to be a non-authorized Repair Co and not much difference then a self installation or bring your Vehicle to a "shade tree mechanic". -

Just a reminder that although your allowed to install "non-OEM" Parts and accessories thanks to the Magnuson_Moss Warranty Act, if you spice these LED`s into the electrical system and Ford deems that it caused the failure of some other component, they will fight like hell to Void your New Car Warranty. Proceed my friend with caution! -
Thats the Paint Color I`m going to order despite the fact that I much prefer the discontinued similar Paint Color Frosted Glass that kept its "Greenish" hue regardless of what sunlight it was in.
