  1. South Florida chiming in here. FedEx Driver just dropped off 2 Day Express Envelope with Ford`s $550 early Christmas Gift! Enough already..... First got a great trade in on July 31 for my my 11` Fiesta SE Hatchback of 11.2K, used X Plan Pin for the 13` C-MAX, Ford offered $1000 Cash Rebate (plus) I received a "private" mailed offer for an addition $750 for total of $1750 (after) X-Plan pricing, 36 month Ford Credit Financing at .09% and now an additionaL $550. The "whipped cream' can`t hold the weight of anymore (cherries or sprinkles). Ford, your the Greatest!
  2. Thats true but Internet sites like Auto Trader. Com can locate exactly what Dealership`s have in inventory that you might be looking for. Just enter your Zip Code and how far to search and you`ll find your Vehicle.
  3. I got a HOV Sticker too but when there is a massive crash or pile up, nothing moves in (any) lane. THe only thing I do miss is the rear camera monitor which I refused to pay several thousand dollars extra to get. Ford is putting them in MY 2014 Fusions in (all) Trim Levels but yet refuses to make it Standard Equipment in a 26K Vehicle, makes sense to me, right? Comparing the C-MAX Plug - In Energi with the Hybrid is like comparing Apples with Oranges. They are both grown from a Tree and from the distance, except for the Plug-In Port, look identical. Your original rational of what Inventory a Dealer would keep in stock made little sense to me especially since the C-MAX Energi is equipped differently with multiple Trim Levels options as a Hybrid. Interesting that in CA you don`t experience heavy highway traffic.
  4. drdiesel1; Well you got one thing right, lol. I am Retired, thank you, but only for the past 3 years. Before that, everything I Posted was just a relevant as it is today. I don`t understand your point. The upgraded "non-Sony" Sirius/XM radio with 6 speakers that came with the C-MAX SE does`nt provide decent reception or sound? The built in Navigation somehow provides different directions then a portable Garmin GPS? I don`t consider a 2013 Ford C-MAX SE with a MSRP of $26,585 a typical stripped down retirement Vehicle. Perhaps your confusing it with a Ford Fiesta "S" or a Kia Rio "LX" with crank up windows? If using Mass Transit was supposed to be a "shot", I`ll take it! Perhaps you would prefer being stuck on I95 during heavy traffic or waiting for an accident to clear then relaxing on Tri-Rail and reading a magazine or texting an "tweeting" to your hearts desire, safely.
  5. mtb9153: Guess thats what separates us Dog Lovers and Car Nuts from the rest of the pack. I know everything has to be put into prospective & context to some degree but its still aggravating. I once purchased a new Chevy Cavalier RS Wagon in the Mid-80`s that was a special factory order. When it arrived, one side of the entire Vehicle had "orange peel" paint so bad, that the Dealership had to repaint the whole right side. When I refused to accept delivery of a "new" Vehicle that needed to be re-painted before delivery, the General manager said I was being ridiculous. He said a quick trip to their Body Shop for (touch-up) was no different then a Woman taking off and re-applying (make-up). I begged to differ. I said first, I was`nt a Woman a did`nt wear (make-up) and secondly I was purchasing a (new) Virgin car, not buying a used clunker from a Buy Here/ Pay Here sled lot. Needless to say, we went to War over my Deposit and I bought another Vehicle elsewhere.
  6. Perhaps (some) folks want or need a C-MAX SEL with NAV and Premium stereo. I for one just wanted a C-MAX SE with just the upgraded 202A package with Sirius/XM radio. I did`nt need the "Sony" radio nor the built in NAV, my $70 portable Garmin Numi with Lifetime Map Updates works fine and I think I have used the "Fog Lights" twice in my entire life with any Vehicle that had them. Not everyone wants or needs to add on several thousand dollars to the purchase price in order to have Leather Interior in South Florida or the (chrome) moulding surround the side windows which IMO looks better anyway in Black matching the rest of the Trim, just saying.....to each their own.
  7. CapeNivem; I feel your pain! Well, I hope its not an "omen" or a sign of things to come but so far my new C-MAX, not 2 months old has been both drowned in rain water from all 4 windows being left open overnight in its first 2 weeks of ownership and a few days ago, the rear left bumper corner smashed in and left bottom of rear hatch door dented after the "Mrs" back up allegedly at (1 or 2 mph) after hitting a cement abutment lighting fixture in a parking lot. Brought "Maxie" to my expert Collision Shop and he replaced the rear bumper, repainted it, added the acrylic applique bumper protector and removed the (dent) from the lower left corner of the Rear Hatch Door. She paid the $1300 cash out of pocket to avoid the Auto Insurance surcharge and I have to admit, the Auto Body guy did a great job. He did a very close paint match with a very difficult Paint Color, Ice Storm. I can slightly see the difference, depending on the lighting conditions but its as good as I can expect. Funny, some cars you can drive 5 years and never have a parking lot ding and others are destined to be subjected to constant trauma. Hope our new "Maxie" has it all behind her now! He warned me that future "Bumper" scratches are possible as the "Factory" paint and Clear Coat is harder and impossible to duplicate after original production.
  8. I agree with you on the safety issue that automatic DRL`s offers both Motorcycles as well as Automobiles to be recognized more readily during sunny or twilight conditions. Other then Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, and Nissan, any other Auto Manufacturer that sells Cars in the U.S. not offer DRL`s as either Standard Equipment or at the very least as an add on option like Chrysler does? Ford only allows DRL`s to be an option for Fleet Purchase Only, Option #942 for $45. requiring a valid "FIN". Daytime Running Lights are only included as standard equipment for Vehicles destined or to be registered in Canada where they are required by Law. Let me know what you Dealership says, it took me three attempts before I got it done. Redunkulous!
  9. They are the Ford OEM "3M" Stick On Window Vent Shades. I too installed the Ford OEM Window Vent Shades as well as the C-MAX Bumper Protector Applique as soon as I took the Vehicle home after purchase. Since I have installed the "VentShade/Lund" 3M stick on Window Vent Shades on a dozen previous vehicles I simply tore the carton open, removed them from the plastic packaging and slapped them on! After I carefully applied all (4) Vent Shades, I noticed the pictorial instructions that were included in 4 languages as well as the scruff pad and the packets of (sealant activator)? I`ve always used the alcohol pads to assure a clean wax free surface but never considered that since they were being attached to (rubber) and not painted steel, extra preparation might be necessary. Read instructions? Alfred E Newman says, "What me worry"? Usually the 3M 2 faced tape sticks like (crazy glue). Just like the rule of carpentry, measure twice, cut once. Better make sure you have them lined up (exactly) where you want them cause once they touch the surface, thats it! If they are not lined up properly or are uneven between the front and rear door, there is no second chance to correct and adjust. After a few trips through the Car Wash and they are still adhering tight. Since Ford guarantee`s if you purchased them or any other Ford OEM Accessory at time of Delivery, they are covered by the same 3 year/36 month bumper to bumper warranty, if they fail, I`ll bring them back to the Dealership with the Sales Receipt and install another set again, next time (using) the scruffy pad and the tape sealant activator.
  10. Hope you have patience! Weather Tech often is very "sloooow" to respond and engineer their Window Vent Shades for new Model vehicles. Could be a year or longer since they are molded in Germany and then the prototypes are shipped to the U.S. for final fitting and approval. Also, if you choose to apply Window Tint Film, the Weather tech Window Vent Shades since they fit tightly into the Window Channel of the door frame often causes rubbing and eventual problems with the Tint Film. Been their, done that.
  11. I`ve noticed that Enterprise Car Rental has had a few used Ford C-MAX`s for sale from their Fleet in the past few month. Most were located in the Mid-West. No bargain prices either considering that despite their low milage, they were used Vehicles. For the several thousand in savings, you could achieve that with X-Plan Pricing and using the $1750 Cash Incentives and the .09% 36 month Finance rate from Ford Credit. I`d go Brand New for that slim a difference!
  12. CARMAX usually gives you KKB, Kelly Blue Book Trade In Values for clean low milage Vehicles. Forget about getting paid the so called "Excellent" Condition Trade-In Price. It`s not going to happen. If the Car was garaged and never driven, they will only pay "Average" or perhaps "Above Average" valuation. Nothing ever qualified for (excellent). Still, they are more generous for a legitimate Used Car then anyplace else. All other Dealerships use the "Black Book" by Hearst Publications for valuations and they are historically (lower). On a Trade-In for a New vehicle, don`t forget the Sales Tax reduction for trading your vehicle in. Depending on the Sales Tax% where you live, it might be a (wash) and save you the hassle of "2" transactions.
  13. I love having the Sirius/XM radio feature in all my Vehicles. On long highway trips there is no more searching to find PBS, News, Sports, Jazz, etc and then lose the signal and the need to start station searching constantly. I have found at renewal time, just a simple call to Sirius/XM and request being connected to the cancellation-termination Representative will result in a massive discounted rate. They usually offer a short term 5 month (teaser) rate at approx. $5 @ month but I usually counter-off with a demand for a 12 month extension at a slightly higher monthly rate and instruct them to send me the Bill and I`ll return their invoice with a Cheque. "Do Not" offer them a Credit Card for automatic renewal as it will likely eliminate your negotiating position and possible cause problems in the future. I`ve been spoiled since KGAG, Hyundai/Kia includes Sirius/XM radios as (standard) equipment on even their Base stripped down Models like their Accent and Rio. Ford on the other hand, makes it an expensive "Package" that includes extra`s that many don`t want at any price but must purchase in order to get the Satellite Radio upgrade. Ford has included the Sirius/XM Radio on many of their Canadian destined Vehicles as standard equipment for years now, ea: 2011 Ford Fiesta`s. Maybe its part of the Canadian Daytime Running Light connection that Ford must comply with due to their Laws. Even Kia with their stripped down Kia Rio "LX" includes Fog Lamps, DRL`s, and a sliding Armrest with Storage Box on its Canadian Vehicles but they are absent on their U.S. Spec vehicles. Now with the exchange rate between U.S. and Canadian Dollars being almost the same, I guess its just Market Conditions and what the Consumers expects or demands.
  14. Great idea! I too will simply lay the Spare Donut Emergency Tire (flat) to allow the privacy shade cover to be used. With the matching Vinyl Tire Cover keeping everything clean, no need to worry about placing something on top of it and getting it dirty or soiled.
  15. Most late model Vehicles regardless if they have the (very) necessary Automatic Headlamp feature are now wired so that in case you forget to shut your headlamps off or the (automatic) sensor fails to shut them off, they automatically turn off once the Car is parked and keys are removed from the ignition switch. Attempting to jimmy-rig Daytime Running Lights by taping over the Automatic Headlamp sensor is foolish. If you want DRL`s then just demand and bitch until your Dealerships accommodates you and enables/activates yours. Doing it with bypassing the Automatic Headlamp feature does not reduce the daytime illumination and glare for the Headlamps as true DRL`s do at 75% output nor changes the Tail Lamps from being on during the daytime . Since there is no "Headlamps On" indicator displayed, caution must be used because at night, you could forget to turn on regular Headlamps since DRL`s will automatically come on but leave you with reduced illumination Head Lamp output and (no) Tail Lamps. That truly is "redonkulous"!
  16. Odd that "cooling" Seats are never a consideration for those that live in the "Heat Belt". Here is South Florida occasionally you see a C-MAX with the Winter Package on a Dealers lot. Who needs heated exterior mirrors and seats in South Florida? True, they are usually a (swapped) vehicle that was sent South from a Northern Dealership but who in their right mind would pay an additional $750 to $1000 for something they would never use? Many Mercedes-Benz Vehicles that are shipped to South Florida have the "heated seats" option added too and these are direct shipped to MB Dealerships here, and they are (not) swapped vehicles!
  17. Even using a lot of "lube", its going to hurt, real bad!
  18. I for one would like to have the option of ordering a C-MAX with no (SYNC) and no (MFT)! Some of us don`t need "voice activated" software while driving nor bluetooth connectivity. Rather then building a better "mouse trap" how about just getting rid of the rodents to begin with? In order to get the Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, you have to get SYNC & MFT? Odd, a 14K Hyundai Accent or Kia Rio comes with Sirius/XM Radio as standard equipment? Navigation needs? A $75 Garmin GPS with (lifetime updates) works fine and can be easily replaced as one desires. Just saying...
  19. Like I Posted Earlier, I got a Brand New Emergency Spare (Donut) Tire, same size fits 2006 Taurus and 2012 (5) Bolt 16`` Focus for $30 plus the Amazon 21` Tire Cover for $11 with (free shipping) if the Amazon order is $25 or more! I purchased a ratchet tie down strap on Ebay for $3.50 to secure the tire. I have not purchased either a scissors jack, jack handle or lug wrench an will await either AAA or Ford Roadside Assistance should I need a Tire change. If your cell phone operates on either AT&T or Verizon, it is (very) unlikely that you will be in a totally dead zone where you can`t make a call. I have AT&T on my Phone and my Wife has T-Mobile, one should work unless your way out in the "boonies". Now if I still had "Metro PCS" as my Wireless Carrier, I`d probably reconsider and start hunting for the other accessories. Hopefully the Tow Truck that arrives will have the proper type Jack to allow enough clearance in order to lift the Vehicle.
  20. AS someone who has been able to get my 2013 Ford C-MAX Daytime Running Lights enabled/activated, like I Posted before, my Selling Dealership Service Manager tried to activate the DRL`s using the IDS Programmer and the Body Control Module (BDC) and simply was unable to do so. A second Ford Dealership over a 100 miles away and closer to where I live attempted to do the Trick too but was un-successful. They sent me a email containing a pdf file from Ford Technical Support to the Service Department that the Body Control Module that is accessed through the IDS Programmer can (no longer) change the exterior light configuration to enable/activate DRL`s on U.S. Ford Vehicles. Only U.S. Spec Vehicles that are Fleet Ordered requiring a valid "FIN" can be equipped with the DRL Option as well as Vehicles destined to be sold and registered in Canada where DRL`s are required by Canadian Law. Any attempt to change the original factory parameters might be in violation of the Federal Safety Standards Act as well! Wonder why U.S. Fleet ordered Ford Vehicles that were ordered with Daytime Running Lights Option # 942 for $45 would not be in Violation of the same statute? Finally, I took my C-MAX to a third Ford Dealership and was told to leave my Vehicle there for a few hours and for a flat rate of a $100 Labor Charge, they would activate the DRL`s. Came back, paid the Cashier the $100 and as they saying goes, "Let there be Light"! They pulled the so called Rabbit out of the Magic Hat, Mission Accomplished. Mind you, my C-MAX SE does (not) have the Automatic Headlamp Sensor so there was no "taping" over the dash component to cause the Headlamps to go on during the daytime at reduced 80% illumination while the rear tail lamps stay off and only illuminate when brake petal is applied during the daytime. Since I would have gladly paid the $45 if I could have ordered the DRL`s as a Retail Purchase, I was`nt overly concerned that I had to pay $100 to have the DRL enabled/activated although I know it took less then 15 minutes as I watched another Ford Dealership activate the DRL`s on my previous 2011 Fiesta SE Hatchback when it was first purchased back in July of 2010. Different Body Control Module? Different IDS Programmer? Different Software or "Patch"? Who knows, another Story for "Unsolved Mysteries"! PS: After DRL`s were activated, no change in FE. The energy required to run DRL`s account for a fraction of .25 MPG. Good luck but be prepared for a fight to get them activated!
  21. Happy South FL C-MAX owner got his Glove Box Shelf Stop the other day and quickly and easily installed it. I failed to remove the "pop-in" second shelf as recommended but was careful to center and line up bottom edge of Plexiglass plate before pressing and affixing the attachment once the 3M Tape protector was peeled off. Just like installing exterior plexiglass Window Vent Shades that attach with 3M Tape, you only have (1) chance to align them correctly. Unless you install the "Weather Tech" Clip On design (which are not available) for C-MAX, only the Ford OEM so far, stick on design, like Contact Cement and Counter Top Laminate placement. once in place, its over! Thanks again, the Glove door is no longer covered with contents when opened! Aught to be a Ford Recall # and (you) should be their Vendor for the Repair Part! Lots of C-MAX`s and Fusions need the retrofit!
  22. Chuck, Jr. I Posted perhaps in another Forum that I did indeed have my Ford 2013 C-MAX SE DRL`s Daytime Driving LIghts finally enabled/activated 2 weeks ago. My original Selling Dealership told me they attempted to activate the DRL`shad responded that unfortunately on the 2013 Ford`s and C-MAX in particular, the Option located in the BCM Body Control Module that listed Daytime Running Lights under "Exterior Lighting" could no longer be modified or changed. Went to a second Ford Dealership outside the Area where Vehicle was purchased. They tried and went to far as to contact Ford Dealership Technical Support Line and got a email reply that stated that no longer can the Daytime Running Lights, DRL`s feature be either activated/enabled nor deactivated/disabled unless it was done so at point of assembly/manufacture (unless) if "ordered" as a Fleet Option # 942 for $45 or the Vehicle was built for Registration in Canada where they are required by Federal Law there. Also was (warned) that attempting to activate/enable DRL`s might be in violation of Federal Safety Standards Act too! Funny, U.S. Spec Vehicles that were ordered with the Fleet Only available DRL Option would be in (violation) of that same statute, right? Went to a third Ford Dealership, asked again if they could please activate the C-MAX`s DRL`s. THey happen to be a high volume Ford Dealership that sells a lot of cars to Vacationing Canadians down here for the Winter. They told me to leave the C-MAX with them for a few hours and for a Flat rate Labor charge of $100, the DRLs would be activated. I came back, paid the Cashier the $100 and guess what, just like on my previous 2011 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback, as said before, "Let There Be Light". Don`t know how they did it, software or special over ride patch, but I got my Daytime Running Lights, finally activated. I know on my Fiesta it took all of 10 minutes to do the re-configuration but since the Daytime Running Lights would have costed me $45 (if) I could have ordered them as a Fleet Only Option, paying a $100 wasn`t so bad for a safety feature I really wanted and desired.
  23. Looks like a perfect fit for this small easy to store Jack. I`m only strapping my Spare Tire Emergency Donut into the Storage area for long out of town Trips. Locally, I`m hoping a small slow leak caused by a nail etc will be detected quickly by the TPS indicators and I will simply use my tiny air compressor to inflate until I get to a Tire Repair shop. I`m skipping on the Jack and lug wrench since if a Tire needs to be changed, its going to a Highway Road Ranger (StateFarm), AAA, or Ford Roadside Service and I`m assuming they would all have a Jack and Lug Wrench to install the Emergency Spare Donut. Got a 10` Ratchet Tie Down Strap on Ebay for less then $5 including Free Shipping to secure the Tire in place when needed for a out of town Trip!
  24. I live in South Florida and after putting the top of the line "3M" Premium Lifetime Warranty Tint Film on (all) of my previous 6 Vehicles, I`m done. Sure, I wish the Factory Tinted Glass was at least a few shades (darker) then what Ford uses. I don`t need SUV Privacy Dark Tinted Glass but a little darker would have been preferred. That said, my experience has been that at least one or two window Panels of every Car that has had Tint Film applied eventually needed replacement due to eventual breakdown and degrading. Not so much issues with Color/Tint change but clarity with a wavy distortion eventually depicting Tint Film`s failure to intense Sun exposure. Sure its replaced at no cost but my new C-MAX and my other 2012 Vehicle, a Kia I`m simply living with the Factory Glass. I just added the C-MAX Rear Bumper Applique and the Ford OEM Window Vent Shades along with a Spare Tire Emergency (Donut) strapped down securely in the Cargo area with a perfect Vinyl matching cover for it I found on Amazon for $10.
  25. The "Cover" for my Emergency Spare Tire (Donut) for my C-MAX just arrived from Amazon.Com and your correct. Its a perfect fit and and almost an exact match for the Light Stone Interior too! Thanks.....
