I am thinking of purchasing an Aliner camper. It weighs approximately 1200 lbs. I would like to tow it with my C-Max hybrid. Can anyone with experience from towing with a c-Max give me any tips/suggestions? Obviously, Ford does not rate this vehicle for towing yet small cars can tow light trailers.

I'm wiring the rear lights on my 2016 Energi for towing behind my RV, can anyone tell me the wire colors for the tail (running) lights and the third (upper) brake light? The harness to the tail gate lights has 20+ wires. There's a purple/gray (or purple/light-green) wire that's hot at the tail lights, but I'd rather not cut it at the harness until I know for sure. The wires are so small, I hate to use a probe on them. The third (upper) brake light is really difficult to remove so I haven't been able to get the color on it. Maybe someone has a wiring diagram or can point me to one.

towing Towing CMax Hybrid with dead battery
john miggins posted a topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
My Ford C-Max Hybrid Energi has a dead battery, I tried to charge it and replace it but display is dead, key will not work, doors cannot be locked and I cant get it into neutral to tow it to dealer. is there a mechancical override to get the transmission into neutral to tow it? not sure why it died, it is on an incline with front higher than rear, I think I left the motor on for 2 hours and drained it . what do I do? -
All, I just started my adventure of towing with the C-Max Hybrid, I towed one of my '13 model Yamaha FX HO's around San Angelo on a 98F day and recorded temps via Bluedriver Scanner. Ski was nearly full of fuel so around 950 lbs plus the 200 lbs of the trailer so roughly 1,150 lbs. Towed up some decent hills on cruise control on freeway at 65 mph, all scanned parameters showed basically similar numbers as though I had no trailer. It is interesting how much hotter the h2o temp gets when on EV mode at a stop sign. I suppose this is the keep the stilled ICE warm and efficient. When towing I don't think I saw anything over 187F on the freeway uphill at 65mph. I will be towing to the coast this weekend up significant grades at higher speeds (80 mph speed limits here in Texas in some areas) and I will monitor and report back.

Hi: I have a 2013 hybrid and have installed a towing hitch for a motorcycle trailer. I also purchased a powered taillight converter I need to install. It needs a 12v connection for power. Under the utility cover in the cargo area of the car, there is a battery connection. I can't figure out if this is the 12v battery connection I should use of if this is the high-voltage battery I should stay away from. Nothing in the tutorials or on-line information seems to have this important information. Does anyone know? I suppose I could put a multi-meter on it and see. Cheers and thanks

I tow my 2018 C-Max and have a question no one seems to be able to answer. The manual says that one needs to start the car each morning (when towing) and let the engine run for 1 minute. That sounds great, but after about 15 seconds, the ICE (internal combustion engine) shuts down changing to hybrid mode thereby not allowing me to run it for 1 minute. How doing I keep the ICE running?

We recently purchased a new 2015 C-Max Energi for use as a Toad with out Holiday Rambler Ambassador. I have a US Gear Unified Tow Brake from my previous Toad (2008 Jeep Wrangler) that I would like to use in the C-Max, but have not found any information on it's use in the C-Max. The parent company quit making this device 2 years ago, so that was a dead end. Does anyone here have any experience or information on this - I did find one post where the author stated he could not get an installer to put a Unified Tow Brake installed on his C-Max because of the "brake pedal attachment" but that did not make sense to me...? Anyone here using one? Thanks Gary

Although the C-Max is not rated for towing, I saw these links over on another forum where a hybrid car discussion was going on and thought I should file them away here for others to view.
