ptjones
Looks Like you made it. :yahoo: Congratulations! :happy feet: Next time 50psi and Premium E10 93octane gas "Cheaper" than E0 and almost as good. You can always add NOS Octane Booster from Walmart to boost Octane and clean injectors. :) You could make it to 700 miles. Grill Covers? Paul The EO is the same price point as the mid grade fuel. Way cheaper in the atlanta market. :-) Here in South Atlanta E0 90octane goes for $3.29, I can get 93 Octane E10 at BJ's for $2.53. :)I thought Ford was very strict on adding adiatives to the fuel tank in this particular engine. I would want to frag my waranty. I looked through OM and didn't see anything on Fuel injector Cleaner/Octane Booster. My FE improves after using it, I have 138K mi.and My BlackStone Labs Oil analyst looks great! :yahoo: My FE keeps on getting better too. :) Paul Edited October 20, 2016 by ptjones

SnowStorm
Welcome to the club! A few tips/notes:You may find the MTE (Miles To Empty) screen better for deciding how long you can drive. The gage does quite a song and dance to get you to buy more gas! It turns, yellow, then goes back up, turns red, plays a chime, throws up a warning on the left screen - I usually just watch MTE.Even at MTE=0 there is still some gas left - they don't cut it that close. I've gone past 0 quite a few times (but not out in the boonies!).The odometer is about 2% low. Mine is around 1.7% as checked against both GPS and Interstate mile posts. So I expect you actually got better than 50 mpg.My offset between car and pump averages about 3% after applying the odometer correction. kyledamron1
kyledamron1
Thanks Snowstorm; I do normally switch back and forth between Empower and then scrolling to the MtE. It showed around 70 Miles to Empty. I decided to fill up since it has been getting much colder and I didn't want to make the fuel pump work much harder. On my Focus, I got to around 12 Miles to Empty once before I filled up. It still only took 11.7 gallons. I was surprised.Unfortunately I don't have a GPS to check how inaccurate the Odometer is :(

ptjones
When I hit zero I look at my trip gauge to see how many miles I have and then compute from there. I have gone 60 miles on empty and I have run out before 30 miles. :headscratch: Paul obob

joshg678
I filled up the other day and my estimated was 714Miles. I had a 40 mile trip With 63.4 MPG in that tank which probably helped. kyledamron1 and ptjones
SnowStorm
I filled up the other day and my estimated was 714Miles. I had a 40 mile trip With 63.4 MPG in that tank which probably helped.I'm sure it did. It would be interesting to know what formula is used for MTE. I started keeping a record of MTE at fill-up and for these 40 samples it has varied from 573 to 816 with an average of 670. The 816 MTE was after a 61 MPG tank and the 573 was after a 44 MPG tank (though only 1.5 gal for that fill-up). Below is a graph of MTE versus MPG for tank where I have deleted some of the smallest fill-ups (2-3 gal). The equation comes out to: MTE = 13.23 x MPG + 2.8The 2.8 should most likely be 0 making the 13.2 the assumed "usable" size of the tank. Actually, the car seems to report 0 MTE when the tank only needs about 12.6 gallons to fill. Of course I don't know if the equation uses the entire tank average or is weighted towards the later part of the tank.
