frbill
I have been really working on my P&G techniques. This means I avoid highways and freeways most days. I used to use Eco Cruise to manage these stretches of my drive. Now I manually manage my speed, this causes me to keep my foot constantly applying pressure for most of my drive. I find that my knee(which is dodgy on my best days) really gets sore. I keep changing my foot position to find the sweet spot between comfort and control, no luck so far. Anybody else figure this out yet? I love my Max and would like to be as comfortable driving it as I was in my Camry Hybrid.
asb
My right leg and hip are a mess. I found that driving manually really caused more discomfort and pain. So, I use eco cruise whenever I can. C-MaxSea

RachelnLa
I use cruise when there is a stretch of road no matter how small. Adjust your seat distance and height. I sat very close due to being short. My thigh was killing me. Then I inched the seat back and adjusted the steering wheel height and scoped it more out and that helped. ScubaDadMiami
That stupid left foot rest doesn't make things any better. It makes the left leg bunch up, and then the right leg has to reach down to feather the gas pedal. So, it makes adjusting the seat much more difficult. ArizonaEnergi
I got pretty good on our recent 3,000 mile trip at using the Eco cruise controls to slow down and speed up in traffic to avoid having to move my big foot in its big shoe. A hand accelerator/brake control might be a good option for us geezer types I'm thinking. Noah Harbinger
For me I feel like I am getting shin splints. I wonder if it's possible to adjust some spring or something to offer more resistance?
MacGyver
Took me a long time to figure out that the C-max is pretty big on me, not used to that in cars, so a long time to overcome pre/misconceptions about seat height, etc. At one point I had the seat like on the floor and liked it, slowly adjusted it upwards for more visibility until I achieved a happy medium. jackalopetx
If you calculate the fuel savings vs driving on the highway, it will probably be far less than the cost of knee surgery toecutter3
B4804514
One of the reasons i bought the CMax was the seating position. My Dr told me that your knee should be lower than your butt for the most comfortable position for your back lower back and posture. I tend to take my foot of the gas a lot of the time to put it into electric mode but I can adjust the seat so there is not pain anywhere. I am a tall guy with long legs and my prior Prius was killing my back and legs due to the bad seating position C-MaxSea

Granted my body is tired including feet, but that is to be expected. :) I make several trips to AZ a year which is about 1700 miles and do it in two days. That works out to 850-1000 miles the first day and the rest the second day. Paul

But if I drive a few hours with a lot of accelerator pedal operation, my right knee hurts

I am a tall guy with long legs and my prior Prius was killing my back and legs due to the bad seating positionI agree B4, keeping the human torso bent at greater than 90 degrees at the waist is my mantra as well. The crunched seating position (less than 90 degrees) in many sedans is not good for me with my long legs. The 'comfort height' seat in our C-Max is much preferred for me & my wife - not to mention the great entry way. Proper seating position with good lumbar support is a must !!! The happy knees & back club, Nick (((Still Eco Cruising as much as possible here in 'auto pilot' zone; although ironically, driving a manual shift in Italy back in April/May improved the minor left knee and hip pain I occasionally have. ;)))) Skip the P & G for me, and pass the poupon, please. :dancing: Edited June 9, 2016 by C-MaxSea ptjones and Bill-N
