666 Posted August 8, 2013 Report Share Posted August 8, 2013 do cmax, a hybrid car, needs full synthetic engine oil? since the engine is running "part time", especially on cmax energi, they even had "engine oil condition mode" and running electric most of time...... what do you think? Engine oil need only meet therequirements of Ford specification WSS-M2C945-A, SAE 5W-20, GF5, and display the API CertificationMark. If buying other than Motorcraft oil you need to read the label carefully to see if the oil meets the Ford Spec. For example, Quaker State posts the following about their advanced durability motor oils: FEATURESQUAKER STATE® ADVANCED DURABILITY CONVENTIONAL MOTOR OILSTM meet or exceed:• North American warranty requirements for worldwide car manufacturers, including European, Japanese and U.S.• Energy Conserving ILSAC GF-5 Performance Standards (SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 & SAE 10W-30)• API SN and prior API Service Categories• Approved to GM 6094M specification (SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 and SAE 10W-30)• Meets Chrysler MS 6395S specification (SAE 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30)• Meets Ford WSS M2C945-A specification (SAE 5W-20), and WSS M2C946-A (5W-30) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
