Loaner car while C-Max is in shop!!

Recommended Posts

Have you guys got loaner cars while  your C-max is in ford dealership for whatever reason (recall, maintainence etc...) I checked two dealers in my area and they both said there will not be any loaner cars unless you have signed up for maintainence plan with loaner coverage,  and i dont have that since mine is  used 2013 C-max and there is  I was thinking of getting 12M02 Outstanding Feild Action done and checked with dealers around my area...

BTW Great forum, with great knowledge..

Thx!!

I was told by one huge area dealer, and made to sign an acknowledgement, that when bringing my new car in for service that there would be no loaners available but cars could be rented. I had already bought that car, but I never took it in there for service (warranty or otherwise), and have not bought another from them in ten years. Bought my C-Max from a local dealer. They have given me a loaner any time my car is going to be there over 4 hours. I have bought 3 cars from them in ten years.

You are not obligated to have your car serviced by the selling dealer. Find the Ford dealer that wants your business. Ford grants the dealer a right to sell their product, but each is independantly owned and there is a vast difference between dealers. IMHO

bob,

Once you get your car into the dealer, send me a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll look into some options for you.

I don't believe 12M02 requires anything.  It's simply a warranty extension on the hardware and any software updates for 5 years.  You can go to support.Ford.com, register and check if your MFT software is up to date.  If not, you can do the update at home by following the instructions there.

Dealer loaners are at the whim of the dealer. Most don't provide it as they don't get reimbursed from Ford for it. If you are paying for considerable work, many times a dealer will provide a loaner.

Ford is not required to provide loaners for warranty service as stated in the new car limited warranty but many times if the service required is beyond one day a loaner may be provided per the Recall / FSA item or if you complain to Ford.

Thanks everyone for their response.

@ Plus 3 golfer :  I should have read other thread on that issue; so its extension of warranty then i dont have to go to dealer.. my MFT software is uptodate. Thanks for your feedback

@Ashley : Since 12M02 is extension of warranty for MFT software; i dont think i will need to go to dealer now;; will definitely contact you if i need to visit dealer for service and require loaner...

happy cmaxinng..

  • 2 weeks later...

We have when ours was going to be in for a week or more getting a new transmission.  They said they were all out of loaners, but we were insistent and didn't take no for an answer and we were able to drive our other car to the nearest Enterprise location where they were also "out" of cars despite a visual survey of their lot telling me that they were lying a-holes.  We ended up with a 15-passenger "church van" for two days that we had to take back in and change out for a Chrysler 200 because the church van was reserved.  In all, we had a rental for 5 days.

We also got a rental when it was in the shop a year or so ago, but we had to pay out of pocket and submit paperwork to Ford to get reimbursement. It took several weeks, but we did eventually get a check from them.

My garage - Ford Lincoln of Franklin - used to offer a free Enterprise rental every time but after the last visit I was told that unless I had the extended maintenance package (I don't) then I could only get a lift back to my office. Apparently it was costing too much to do this on a regular basis.

Shame as there only seemed to be F150s for rental and I got the gas comp'd after mentioning the mpg I got from the Max.

  • 1 month later...

I have had a huge problem with getting a loaner car and I have every extended warranty and care plan. My car has been in for 7 major repairs (plus all the many recalls) and I have only been able to get a loaner 3 of the times and I had to fight for it. This last time, the restraint control module malfunctioned (after being repaired in a recall one month prior) and disabled the airbags, traction control, 911 assist, and causing a high-voltage/powertrain error. I was en route from northwest Indiana to Baltimore, Maryland at the time for work and was told they couldn't get me a loaner car. The dealer told me it was Ford's 24/7 roadside repair's responsibility and Ford said it was the dealer's responsibility. I had to make a pretty huge scene and refuse to leave the dealership without a loaner because I was driving 1600 miles across the country and my new car was broken again. They ended up giving me a salesman's dealer 2014 Ford Explorer and my car took 7 days to be repaired. I had planned to drive 1600 miles with over 40 mpg and ended up doing it with less than 20 mpg. Since I had traded in a gas-guzzling Ford F-150 to buy my C-Max, I'm not very happy that it cost me over twice as much for the trip and there's no compensation for that. So much for buying a new car so I don't have to worry about maintenance issues when I've had to take it in for repairs more in the 12 months I've had it than I did my previous 3 vehicles (each with over 200,000 miles) combined! I wish Ford had a more streamlined process for getting a loaner vehicle for warranty issues. If it wasn't such a hassle, I wouldn't be nearly as upset about all the problems with my car. I hated being treated like it's unreasonable to buy a new car and expect to at least HAVE a car to drive.
