..the sad thing is I think it's one of the better ones I've used.  I wasn't that impressed with first generation entune or the chevy one.

 

I personally think the interface isn't bad, they've organized the screen into big quadrants that are easy to hit.  The major problem is that it's just too slow to update, when you're driving down the road that's a bad thing.  I also see a few glitches that have that "Microsoft" feel to them but for the most part it works okay.

 

It's a horrible waste of space but I'm sort of glad they have some physical controls as well, I still find myself reaching for the knobs rather than taking my eyes off the road.

Horrible waste of space is correct.  Who uses the HVAC quadrant?

 

Why can't we customize the right screen display next to the speedometer to show more stuff from the left side?

From the Detroit News article, this immediately preceeds the "turd:"

"Court documents from a 2013 class-action lawsuit filed in California show Ford engineers were worried about the “unsaleable” system from the outset of its 2010 launch..."

 

This isn't us, it's the first generation. My Microsoft-based MFT/Sync system was it's replacement, followed by the RIM system now in use. Articles are popping because the class-action suits are starting trial soon. 

 

Engineers tend to report what they observe...

My favorite line from the article I read is that someone couldn't drive and was stranded on the side of the road because their GPS wouldn't update?  So you have no clue how to get back to a major highway? 

 

I've driven the C-MAX a handful of times while SYNC maintenance was going on and it's a little weird but they very purposefully separated the systems that drive the car from the infotainment computer.  Maybe as a result of the incident referenced in the article..

BTW, jestevens.....That "someone" "stranded on the side of the road" just happened to be Edsel Ford, per the Detroit News article.
