Locating the fuses for the "cigarette Lighter" jacks?

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a 2014 C-Max Hybrid today and of course I cant charge my phone in the car as neither of the 12V sockets work, so I figure it is a fuse issue.  Trouble is, I cant find the fuse in all the fuse box diagrams.  They do not call them what I would think, so I need some help in locating them.

I was looking for the fuse for the 12 volt outlet that is in the back.  I did not see it in the manual.  Any ideas ?

My reason is that I have what I thought was a great fast air pump but it blew the fuse in the front.  I later read a review that it can draw 30 amps on start up and then draw .7 amps if the pressure in the tire is 40+ lbs to start out.  I was curious if the outlet in the back is the same 20 Amps.  Now I am curious if there even is a fuse.  I may not be able to return it because I already threw out the box and cut the power cord to use inside my house.

I am thinking it might be in the manual but it is not called "power point." like the one in the front.

Thanks.

Here is a link to the review and the product for anyone that may be interested (I do NOT recommend )

Don't know about the fuse either but why not connect it to the power posts under the hood - plenty of current there.  You've already cut the cord so attach some big clamps (maybe from a dead jump starter or 12V inverter) and a fuse and it should go.  Just keep an eye on the pump so it doesn't go up in smoke!  Funny that the pump should fail - it says it is "Built to Last".  They just didn't say how long!  The auto-shutoff does sound nice though.

Just an FYI. I had this same problem where my cup holder 12v had no power, but the console did. I extracted the cup holder socket, and found that it was not connected to the plug. I was able to pull the plug up through the hole where the socket was, and re-seat the socket into the plug.
