kyledamron1
So something that I've noticed with my car, and newer cars in general. The bottom of the door, right where the weld is already has rust! Not even 70,000 miles! Does anyone else have anything like that?

obob
Maybe that door leaks water. I haven't noticed anyone else with that problem and seem unusual to me. It may be covered by a warranty. Some reading indicates there is a rust-through warranty and a rust warranty, but not sure specifically for the C-Max. https://www.justanswer.com/ford/18so9-claiming-ford-rust-warranty.html kyledamron1
kyledamron1
It's only surface rust, but it happens on both front doors. Right at the bottom. It wasn't as bad on my Focus, so I'm wondering if they're using a different type of metal.
Bill-N
I've not seen the problem. And they use lots of salt on the roads. kyledamron1
homestead
Perhaps the door was scraped on a tall curb. kyledamron1

WNY
yup, where the seam is rolled under on the inside bottom of the door, my driver has a little bit, i just clean it and wax it off, might be inside the door or something. idk. kyledamron1
Tree63
My 2013 has some minor surface rust in the same area. It's gone through 4 winters up here. Not bad. Time to put some wax or NuFinish on it before winter.
anbron
Mine has no rust also. Applying wax is a good idea to prevent surface rust.
Tom
Be sure that the door water drains are open. In the past, there were issues with lift gate doors not having the plastic covers on the water drains removed when the new cars were delivered to the buyers. May also apply to the doors? kyledamron1
I'll have to look! It could just be some clogged drains causing it.
