mtb9153
Does anyone know if it is possible to adapt my 2013 CMax Sync screen to display my Apple iPhone 8 plus?
kyledamron1
I believe you would have to replace the MyFordTouch with Sync 3. I've thought about doing that... but it's like $1,500 for the package. You can probably look on eBay for one though.
mtb9153
Kyledamon, you are correct ApplePlay only works through Sync 3 I found out so I guess ApplePlay is not in my future. Bummer! Edited June 15, 2018 by mtb9153
homestead
How bad do you want sync 3? There is an upgrade. Or you can buy a 2016 or newer. Edited June 15, 2018 by homestead
mtb9153
Thanks Homestead I knew it wouldn't be cheap to upgrade but ouch! not happening right now Edited June 18, 2018 by mtb9153
jestevens
Have you tried holding in the voice button to access CarPlay via mic/speakers? That's about the best you can do with the last available version of Sync 2. It's not great, but it's better than nothing. Siri can basically read and respond to messages, dial phone numbers if you have a data connection on the phone.
zalusky
Speaking of Sync 2, does anybody have the situation where the radio will switch to the phone and start playing music when the car starts up.I am not sure whats triggering it as my car's radio was not previously switched to the iPhone and I was not playing music on my phone either.
