Is there a way to tell if the eCVT has been replaced. Visible new gaskets, different VIN that is visible, or something in FORSan. I was considering taking the car to Ford to see if they would give me service records. Not sure of history, car is on CL with no tags, so I am assuming its an unlicensed car dealer. C-MaxA2 Posted May 14, 2020 Report Share Posted May 14, 2020 My experience with Ford suggests that there is no 'central repository' of individual car data that can be checked by Ford corporate. If you can find if the Ford dealer regularly serviced it (if that occurred) you might, might get lucky. I'd take the VIN and do some research on that to see if some history emerges (can be a pain since they offer data then want you to pay with no idea if there is anything useful). plus 3 golfer Posted May 14, 2020 Report Share Posted May 14, 2020 If you are not the owner (able to provide proof of ownership to Ford / dealer), Ford / Dealer will (should) not give you information on a car you don't own. I don't believe FORScan lite versions will be of any help. It's likely that with the FORScan full version (which allows looking at / editing of vehicle data) can access data like serial / model number and so forth of transmission which may yield data to approximate build date. Go to the FORScan forum and ask the question. Find posts by Snowstorm and others that describe a whining noise which apparently develops from the "bearing" issue and is an indicator of pending failure. Paul Yes, except 2013 MYs also had a transmission gasket issue (bad RTV and leaking fluid) which required removing power train and transmission from engine. If someone asked me if I had problems with a car I would be honest with them, although at that mileage they might have not had any problems but you might. I have about 110Kmi on my 2013 SEL and still everything original except for 12V battery. I just had it in for new tires and oil service and tech said no leaks. I drive mostly suburbs driving with occasional highway trips on the weekend. Well I used to anyway - getting GREAT savings on gas now that car mostly sits in driveway. It wasn't just MPG that attracted me to the C-MAX though - it's a really nice car for the price.
