Zathrus
Here's link to Ford recall announcement (appears only 2013-2015 Cmax's are affected): https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2020/06/10/ford-motor-company-issues-two-safety-recalls-in-north-america.html
grege
Puzzling how after 100 years of manufacturing, many brands (possibly all) have problems with door latches as if they've never made those before. Greg
SnowStorm
So, I get a letter dated August 2020 saying my latches might still be bad but, due to COVID-19 considerations, I can check it myself - don't need to go to the dealer. (Hmm, might be the only good coming out of this virus mess.) Anyway, I copy down all the numbers and try to go to www.fordlatchrecall.com but the site just returns an error: Ooops! Sorry please check the URL you are trying to access, or try reloading the page again. Thank you for visiting Thu Aug 06 2020 16:08:16 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Anybody able to get in and check their codes? This door latch thing is leaving me a bit unhinged! takingittothemax
Is that site legit? It doesn't run HTTPS, which seems unusual ...
cmaxdad
I used the site today. I had to be sure to include the www. in the URL. One of my four latches was apparently never replaced. The dealer only did 3 of 4, the front passenger latch seemed like it was the original. So maybe Ford noticed that many dealerships were cutting corners. SnowStorm
Yes, its now working. All my codes checked OK. I guess there's something to be said for smaller "hometown", "family owned" dealers - they must have done mine right.
homestead
All of our doors checked ok. But I still need to remove the driver door hardware and spray as the unlock function doesn't work reliably in wet weather.
jestevens
Mine checked okay although I thought they were a pain to read -- I had to use a strong LED flashlight at just the right angle. One of them only had a three digit code -- weird.
Lacienega
Got the recall letter today and checked mine...everything Ok and case for my car closed. Glad I don't have to spend my time at the dealer.
JAZ
Ditto...but not visiting the dealer means we won't be there drooling over the new Hybrid Escape. Lacienega
ptjones
I have to take mine in, but parts won't be available until OCT. Latest on my FEHP is schedule production date Sep. 3 from week of Aug. 10. Paul
jdbob
I could only read one of the four latch numbers, really poor quality manufacturing. Still haven't had the charging cord replaced, the closest dealer (about 1.3 hours each way) wouldn't do it and the dealer I bought the car from will do it but haven't felt like driving 3 hours each way unless there is something else I need to do in that city. Try shining a flashlight at the parts at varied angles, doing this I was able to read all the numbers but it was difficult. ptjones

Did try that, along with a couple of different magnifiers. ptjones
ArizonaEnergi
I read mine with difficulty today and entered them into the website along with the fact that the two childlocks were not white. The two back doors got flagged as needing service, probably because of the childlocks. I will take it in maybe in a couple of years when the virus is gone. ptjones
ptjones
We haven't changed our lifestyle much other than the mask thing in some stores. I find it challenging to dine out with a mask on. It looks like medications and vaccines will be going strong by OCT. Paul
