robodog61
Hello, I just covered up the front grill with the covers made by PTJones. He has some excellent data on gas savings and expected coolant temperatures. I was wondering if there is any effect on the inverter cooling system. In other words, assuming that the normal coolant temp is maintained where is should be (about 205), is there any deleterious effect on the inverter and the inverter cooling system. What temperature should that be at and does the scan gauge measure it? Thanks rfruth and robertiv
rfruth
Heard (not real sure) the lower third of the radiator cools the inverter coolant - scangauge with xguage ?

Maybe PTJones will see it (bump) and might have some thoughts about how the grille covers can affect the inverter radiator cooling of the electrical components. hybridbear
There is no known XGauge for inverter coolant. The inverter coolant has its own radiator. You want to be very careful to keep the electric components cool as they will be destroyed by heat.
Recumpence
Yes, the lower grille covers the inverter radiator. You need to make sure there is airflow to it. Understand, however, that these components generate FAR less heat then the engine, however. So, very little airflow is needed. Matt
ptjones
Inverter coolant lines seem to stay around outside temp, Ford doesn't have sensor for it, they aren't worriedPaul robertiv
