  1. I may have to recant myself. I found the raw data they were talking about: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/tcldata.htm It seems like only the luxury manufacturers are performing all the 5-cycle tests. If you look at the 2-cycle test performed and extrapolate that there should be 3 new tests for every 2 old tests, of the non-luxury manufacturers, Volkswagon comes the closest at performing 5-cycle tests on 44% of vehicles; Toyota on 19% of vehicles; and no other non-luxury manufacturer performed full tests on more than 10% of cars. Chrysler, Ford, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru performed new tests on 0% of vehicles; GM, 3%; honda and mazda, 4%, hyundai, 5%, suzuki, 6%. Edit: I swear I was already writing this before you replied :)
  2. I keep seeing that come up. It's dead wrong. Note the money quote: It's absolutely wrong. First of all, they're talking about e.g. SEL verses SE - "configurations". It only means that if your SE performs the same on the 2-cycle test as the SEL, you can use the same 5-cycle test results for both vehicles.
  3. But you did get exactly what was advertised: You got a vehicle that will get 47MPG on the EPA fuel economy tests. That's what they are advertising. You're foolish to assume it means anything else.
  4. Did anyone take before/after updates of the headliner?
  5. Some people have IBS, there's nothing un-manly about needing the softest tissues.
  6. Wow, they're sending engineers out to meet you! Must be nice to live in Michigan :)
  7. Based on the description of the system, I would expect that to be the result of the C-Max's superb soundproofing, not the noise cancellation.
  8. I'm curious if there is a spring or something that can be adjusted to offer more resistance to my foot. I feel like that would make it easier to precisely control the throttle without wearing out my leg.
  9. I'm glad mine came with 3.5.1 installed at the factory... Although ironically the worst problem it's had was when I first bought it and the voice control was wedged. It's funny how you don't need an appointment to get them to look at something when you haven't paid for the car yet ;) I've seen rumors on http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/ that 3.6 is around the corner….
  10. It would be interesting if a dealer could test a vehicle according to the EPA protocol to see if there's something affecting performance on an individual vehicle - to separate the effect of the individual driver. Many people have said, and I feel like I am coming to agreement from my own experience, that you need to accelerate more aggressively to get better fuel economy. Use gas to accelerate, use electric to cruise.
  11. The EPA test is a derived calculation that was updated in 2008 to include 3 new test cycles - it's hardly a "pre-hybrid" test, though it is certainly not designed to counteract the hybrids' unique advantages on the test.
  12. While I suspect the owner of the forums has some agreement in place with Ford, the vast majority of the day to day operation seems to be done done by enthusiasts. I have never in all my years seen a complaint, even from someone with a repetitive unfounded hobbyhorse, "mysteriously disappear" here or on any other of the BlueOvalForums. Coming from the MyFordTouch world: Ford has been releasing updates a couple times a year. It feels like forever if you're one of those people who happens to be, for whatever reason that is beyond the understanding of mortal users, triggering some inconvenient (or worse, unsafe) bug. But they have continued to make the updates available for vehicles of prior model years, so I would expect current vehicles to be supported in the years to come as well. Personally, mine was built recently enough to come with the latest version - and although it is not trouble-free, it seems like the general flow of complaints has ebbed. I am not familiar with the state of Sync without MFT.
  13. That was definitely true of the Transit Connect headliner retaining nut issue - it meets Euro safety standards, but not US.
  14. Has nothing to do with not knowing how to drive. It has everything to do with understanding the goals, strengths, and weaknesses of standardized testing.
  15. I expected to see far more than a half second of the actual impact. Also, the volume level of the impact is much greater than the rest of the video, which is quite startling.
  16. Dang, i should have taken a picture! I got exactly 50.0 MPG over about 23 miles. Featuring traffic flowing fairly steadily at 35MPH for 10 miles, then another 10 miles on surface streets with lots of badly timed stoplights - I'd swear I hit 75% of the lights red. The next short-hop, about a mile, ran 126MPG… but that's not too unusual for such a short trip :)
  17. Shows up for me. I remember seeing something like this come up for some other Ford vehicle a couple years back - I think it was on the Transit Connect (another Euro vehicle transplanted to the US). In that case, it was that the fasteners holding the head liner in place were deemed to be a risk to the head in the case of an impact. I don't remember any more details than that though. Edit: Found a news release about the Transit Connect recall: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/09/ford-recalling-nearly-34-000-transit-connect-vehicles-over-headl/ Again, no idea if it is/could be related.
  18. Well what I'm getting at, and what I assumed OP was talking about, is that any slight pressure to correct seems to overcorrect. However I may still be used to the change from my previous car, which had a bent frame (hence uncorrectable pull), and way too much free play in the steering.
  19. Given the topic you posted this to (Blue Candy photos), For a second I thought the dust was a LOT worse than it actually was.
  20. I got a 50% at a light today, going downhill towards an intersection - I think that's my lowest to date. Felt so ashamed.
  21. If it were me, I'd bang the sticky-outy bits back into shape with a mallet. I can't imagine its effectiveness would be substantially affected with regard to the design considerations Laurel cited.
  22. Try not to give too much personal about the guy! Wouldn't want him to get fired because he shared something we're interested in knowing, that Ford isn't so happy about spreading around. Include intentionally misleading personal details, if possible. The situation you described already might be enough for some pointy-haired boss to pick him out….
  23. It's been a week so I'll take this. The "Trip Summary" you usually see pictures of is a screen that displays briefly when you turn off the vehicle, for the miles driven since it was last turned on. It only displays fuel usage to the tenth of a gallon. However, the "Trip 1 and 2" display is analogous to the typical trip meter, where it displays the milage since you last re-set it. Except beyond miles-since-last-reset, it also displays other information: Time of trip, EV miles, MPG of trip, and fuel consumed on trip - except the Fuel Consumed is displayed to the hundredth of a gallon. You can see that in 11StiLimited's post: Compare the last two pictures, Trip Summary vs. Trip 2.
  24. HMMM I wish I could get a sense of what you were experiencing before. It is starting to bother me more, how cruising on the highway straight doesn't feel so straight.
  25. My favorite time for the Candy Blue color is during the gloaming. The red infuses into the color to create a color vibrant and deep. I need to take some pics of it on an evening with a fiery sunset. But I can offer this:
