What just happened? Battery saver - system shutting down while driving!
Noah Harbinger replied to Mi-C's topic in Batteries
From the manual (second printing) - no idea if it's relevant but y'all might find it interesting: Starting and Stopping the Engine (pg 173) Stopping the Engine When Your Vehicle is Moving 1. Press and hold the start button briefly, or press it three times within two seconds. 2. Move the transmission selector lever to position N and use the brakes to bring your vehicle to a safe stop. 3. When your vehicle has stopped, move the transmission selector lever to position P and switch the ignition off. WARNING: Switching off the engine when the vehicle is still moving will result in a loss of brake and steering assistance. The steering will not be locked, but higher effort will be required. When the ignition is switched off, some electrical circuits, warning lamps and indicators may also be off. -
I lost voice commands

If that were the case, it would still carry out the voice commands. -
Thank You Ford for the 3.5.1 and Liftgate!
Noah Harbinger replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
We'll see - it's not perfect but so far I haven't seen anything that would astound me as "inexcusably bad" the way people experienced on 3.1.3 and earlier. Hopefully it stays that way :) -
That came to mind before i posted, but the System Status diagram includes the gasoline use pathway, so the diagram itself can only be for a full hybrid.

Maybe the challenge should be "Over 55MPG after 12 or more gallons of gas"?
-
If I were to throw out a random guess: Maybe it adjusts the Trip MPG based on the change in the charge level of the high-voltage battery? So if you drove 20 miles, used 0.4 gallons, you'd have a raw calculation of 50MPG; but suppose the battery started at 200Wh, and ended at 1200Wh - good for maybe another 3 miles, next time you drive. Now, you've got 20 miles driven + 3 future EV miles generated and stored = 23 miles - still divided by 0.4 gallons. Now you're at 57.5MPG. Of course, I have no idea if this how it ACTUALLY calculates the milage (maybe I'll start paying attention…), but it would not be unreasonable to do so. After all, you paid the cost of those miles (in terms of fuel used) on this trip - why should it be any other way? Why should you pay for the miles on one trip, and use them on another?
-
It does not on mine - I checked for that specifically a while back.

That is definitely a Focus. Wow. And there's not even a Focus Hybrid available! Or are they accidentally leaking some information !!?!

Yes, reading what some of you were going through with 3.1.3 just astounds me that Ford could even think of letting something like that out the front door. But it's far more important to be able to learn from mistakes than to avoid them in the first place - I hope this reflects a positive trend at Ford. I feel immensely lucky that mine came with 3.5.1, and happy that everyone else's CMax Experience will be improved by it. I do wish the screen operated with a lighter touch, but I'm guessing that's because they used a resistive screen, for all those people who drive in the winter with gloves? -
Did you reset the tripmeter when the dealer handed it over? If not, you might have included some extra miles. I forgot to do that, so I'm not recording anything on Fuelly until the following tank. (Gosh, that'll take forever! ;) )

For those who have had 12v Battery problems
Noah Harbinger replied to zhackwyatt's topic in Batteries
Not sure if my situation counts as a "Battery Problem" yet, or if that status is reserved for those who have actually had a non-start situation. I'm in an SEL 302A. Out of paranoia after reading all the other battery issues, I started checking the battery voltage each day before driving for a week: Get in the driver's seat, close the door, wait for the entertainment system to turn off, use the multimeter on the power port in the front seat, and wait for it to reach a steady voltage. My average measurement was 12.1V, ranging from 11.8V to 12.25V. So far I have not had a dead battery but I asked the dealer to take a look when I brought it in for another issue, just in case something is developing. -
I had that happen on my old car (Hyundai Elantra) exactly once. It worried me since that was less than a month after I'd bought it. Never went to that gas station again, never had the problem again.

Thanks :) I might check it out but I'll probably stick with USB so I can get the playlists.

I lost voice commands
Noah Harbinger replied to HPRifleman's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
If what happened to HP is the same as what happened to me, it is not the Advanced setting: The system enters a state as if it were listening for commands, but in fact does not respond to any command or perform any action, as if it can't hear you. -
That will take you to the same page in the end. No idea what to do to make it work on your Kindle.

Look at the colors available: Besides the two premium colors (Ruby and Candy Blue), there's a pale Ice Blue - and then it's Black, Dark grey, Light grey, white, and something not quite white. The neutral colors probably dominate production.

It must have been an oddity in the database when I searched! Or an oddity in my brain, I did have a rather sleep deprived weekend. I thought it seemed extremely strange at the time - but it was something I wanted to believe :)
-
Strange - It still loads for me.

Even when there's just a few degrees difference, the compressor on mine is very loud too - I would describe it as a harsh buzz. That was one of the four complaints I brought up with the dealer today. The service advisor claimed it was normal since he saw it on another C-Max today - I expressed incredulity and he promised to look into it further. I wonder if anyone has access to a datasheet of tech specs on the compressor, to really know what should be expected in terms of noise and vibration? Supposedly the 2013 Ford electric and hybrid vehicles are the first to get a new model of electric compressor from Denso: http://www.densomedia-na.com/news/show/id/402 - but I can't any technical information about it. I can't imagine why you would feel it through the steering and accelerator unless there's something REALLY wrong going on - like it vibrating badly enough to shake the front end, or a major electrical problem browning power to the electronic steering and throttle controls?

3.5.1......Anyone? Anyone?
Noah Harbinger replied to Adair's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Mine was on a completely random time until I hit GPS Sync (or whatever that option is called). At that point, it was exactly an hour off. I too manually added an hour. -
Looking around the dealer inventories in SoCal, there are NO SEL C-Maxs available.
-
Goodness, it's good to have some perspective on this. Mine came with 3.5.1, and i was complaining about not having playlists available when streaming over bluetooth. But I saw an option that might be relevant to that just before dropping it off at the dealer (to fix some lot damage - I'm soooo paranoid it won't look as good as the factory finish, even if they do fix the paint chip!) I plug my iPod in via USB. Not that I really switch playlists that often….

Automatic Climate Control always on with car start

I lost voice commands
Noah Harbinger replied to HPRifleman's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
It happened on my car on the test drive! They did a master reset, but it wasn't until a tech pointed out that you have to let it sit a really long time without touching anything or it will abort the reset that we got it to work. Ford's posted a demonstration video: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch#reload Enjoy the upbeat music. (Notice that while it displays the Sync startup progress bar, it progresses in sync to the music.) -
Where do you put an electronic toll transponder?
Noah Harbinger replied to HPRifleman's topic in Interior
In San Diego we actually had a toll road drop their toll - the San Diego Bay Bridge charged a toll to recoup construction costs. It was left on for a while longer than first promised to cover higher-than-expected maintenance costs, and because the island occupants (a very expensive area) don't really like mainlanders visiting, but the toll eventually disappeared.
