  1. I want to be able to turn on the HVAC system without instantly kicking in the ICE. I need to be able to direct air to my windshield without running the ICE. My window fogs up constantly here in the pacific NW where it is damp and cool but not really *cold*. I just need a teeny tiny bit of airflow in the windshield to prevent it. I don't need defrost or heat or fans, just a vented outside air through the windshield vents is enough to prevent it. It's impossible to do in the C-Max. The first vehicle I have owned that won't let me turn off the fans and compressor but use the windshield vents. When I hit power on the HVAC it will turn on the ICE because the HVAC defaults to high fans and whatever temp it was last set to. Heck if I had at least a 10 second "grace period" where I could make adjustments without it turning on the ICE it would be nice - so I can adjust the air temp or vent settings quickly without the need to turn on the ICE. I hate that it starts with fans on high, and that I have to turn on floor or face vents first before windshield vents or else the ICE turns on.
  2. I'm not sure what they can do if the EPA tests don't change. Ford didn't make up the numbers, and Ford can't control what is put on the sticker. For what it's worth the C-Max Energi is rated 44/43/41
  3. Ford sold 2487 C-Max hybrids and 338 C-max Energis in January. http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46526
  4. There is a comedian they play on Sirius RawDog who does a bit about rear safety windows. Basically questioning if it really is a problem, children escaping from cars through the window, toddlers tumbling down the streets.... It's a pretty funny bit.... I think "safety" windows may have originally had more to do with the shape of rear doors around the wheel wells which a square piece of glass can't bend around.
  5. Prius isn't that much closer. This thread has been hammered to death. Learn to use the search function or read through the already existing 10 threads about fuel economy. This is getting really really old. The horse is dead, stop beating it.
  6. They can't legally do darkened glass on the C-Max because it is classified as a "passenger car". On the plate in the doorframe, you can see the classification. If it were classified as a wagon, or SUV it could come from the factory with the darker rear glass. Also - because it has that "passenger car" it is subject to most states stricter tint laws (stupid that trucks and SUVs have looser tint laws in most states - I generally dislike tint laws to begin with though).
  7. There is not much to fix. If your sensor is detecting stuff the - alarm beeper will sound. That's why they have the button to turn it off. In the demo drive we took way back in October, the demonstrator told us that they had to turn it off regularly in snow or ice. There is not a super reliable way to tell the sensor how to differentiate between ice and a curb... Ours will do this with leaf and tree debris. I turn off the sensors until I have a chance to wipe them off. It will also go off when people walk by in a crosswalk or when a car pulls close to the side of us.
  8. Mama always said MFT is like a box of chocolates... You never know what you're gonna get.
  9. For the love of all that is holy NO! Or at least have an option to turn them off.... The last thing I want is more visual pollution...
  10. Yeah, this bugs me a little. It's way better than my truck but I feel weird in a small car taking two passes to get into a parking spot.
  11. What kind of phone? On the iPhone you can change the input device for the call from Sync to iPhone. It's an icon like the mute icon, once the call is active. In my other cars if I answered the call with hands free it went to the hands free, if I answered with the phone it went to the phone. I haven't tried much in the c-max yet...
  12. Toyota "quality" is one of the greatest scams propagated on the public in the history of automobiles. I have no loyalty to Ford (yet) and everyone loves to rant about how terrible VWs are yet I have had three problem free high mileage VWs. I used to be a real Chevy guy but have had mixed results with GM products, and I have had mixed results with a couple Mopar products as well. I think any more when buying new I don't worry - and when buying used I look for the well established vehicles with available parts and mechanic expertise.
  13. Here is where we discussed these sorts of devices: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/361-battery-dead/page-7
  14. I mean there are jump start devices which plug in to the 12v adapter. There is another thread here where people have posted links to the devices. I'll have to look for the thread. I believe the 12v connector in the cargo area and the one in the console cubby are always hot, so juice should be able to flow in to the 12v system just as it flows out of the 12v system via those outlets. I'll look for the thread...
  15. Some more info about the types of batteries used by Boeing and the investigation in general. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/01/boeing-787-battery-design-musk/
  16. Are you re-booting with the USB stick or re-setting with the reset option in the menus?
  17. This is why they call it an estimate. YRMV Everything can impact performance. My range has swung from 12 on the low end to 23 on the high end. What speed were those miles driven? Did you have any climate controls on? We're the lights on? Check your tire pressure. Also, the car is not broken in yet.
  18. Not to quibble but I dint think you actually went to the link in the OP. It's not a Mac app. It is an app for iTunes users, runs on Windows and OSX. It's a java back-end and can be used with an Adobe AIR interface if desired. (Emphasis added by me)
  19. Yet another reason why MFT sucks. It should be able to work with just about any formatting of media storage. But it doesn't. My Chrysler UConnect worked with any media organization I could throw at it, and it predates MFT by several years. I shouldn't have to twist around my organization to work with MFT (Which is Microsoft Auto and uses Windows Media Player). I can get playlists and media files onto removable storage just fine, and they work just about everywhere except MFT apparantly. For all my other use I just select the music or playlist I want in iTunes and drop it on the USB device, and I am good to go. But MFT crapped out trying to index that, so I did some searching and found the iTunes Exporter which will export it into a sliced up folder structure which doesn't kill MFT. This is really only a problem if you have a ton of files. Again, a limitation of MFT which only supports FAT32. A folder in FAT32 can only have *up to* 32,000 files. (If the filenames are longer than 8.3 then that number goes down even further, as long filenames take several directory entries to store and FAT32 only has 65k directory entries). If MFT would support NTFS, ext2 or ext3, or HFS+ file systems then it could have between 2 billion and 4 billion files in a single folder. But MFT is stuck in 1996. And I don't know what the hell keeps MFT from easily indexing the files in one single folder. My first iPod had 10,000 songs on it and never hung up indexing or browsing them and MFT has hundreds time more RAM and processor capabilities. Again, just showing more weakness in the whole Windows Auto platform. My 2008 Dodge with UConnect and (1/4 the power or RAM of the current MFT) had a 10GB hard drive, and I attached a 120GB USB drive (from an old laptop) and it never choked on all that music. There is just no excuse for this in 2012. MFT should just plain work.
  20. No, its not for a Mac. Its for if you use iTunes. iTunes is used on Windows as well...
  21. Also, this car barely needs "jumping". It's more like a small hop. You can actually provide enough juice to wake the electronics with just the 12v adapters in the car itself...
  22. What do you mean? I can use the radio while the USB drive is connected...
  23. OK, there had been some discussion in another thread about problems indexing a large number of music files on a USB jump drive. I bought one of the teeny tiny SanDisk drives, which is hardly bigger than the USB connection itself. I bought a 16GB version. About 15.5GB of music, 2600 songs. In my iTunes I had a playlist set up for my CMax music, all deduped with my favorite music. I have over 100GB so I can't put it all on MFT... My first attempt I put them all in a single folder, just a flat collection of files. MFT tried for an hour to index them and never would complete, it would just spin and spin. My second attempt, I used iTunes Export. I had it export the actual song files as well, so now they are in all the same folders that iTunes organizes them. Then I just copied all those folders to the jump drive. Worked like a charm. Now it sees them almost instantly, no waiting. I used the command line version of iTunes Export because I don't want to install Adobe AIR (last thing I need are more security holes). I ran it with this command if you are interested...
