MyTouch didn't want to shut off...
valkraider replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
40% as of November 2012 (down from the 50% it was in March). http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSL2N0AL01020130116?irpc=932 Their goal of 36% by August sounds noble but if 36% of my boxes of Oreos tasted bad - I would probably stop eating Oreos. Which is saying a lot because I *love* Oreos. I don't love Ford. -
Another MFT glitch - it froze while driving!

Another SE... Also - if it happens again (and you have time), don't let them start it. Have it towed to the dealership in its "dead" state so the dealership has evidence to work with and test, and so they can't say they can't duplicate the problem.

Yeah, not so tough with my Energi. I have 1600 miles and have only burned through 1.5 tanks... ;) Energi should go for 1000+ mile tanks. If we don't do any traveling we can easily break 1000 miles as most days we only use gasoline for one or two miles and mainly for the heater to warm up...
-
Every vehicle I have does that. My truck and motorcycle are the worst. I can drive forever on the first half a tank but the second half is gone lickity-split.

I don't mind the rain. There's no soap in it... ;) Recently I moved to TN for a year. One day it was raining and I rode my bicycle to the neighborhood grocery store for a couple items. I swear people in the store would move to the other side of the aisle and cover their children as though I was the plague... Using my bicycle was strange enough to most people there - but they also had a fanatical abhorrence of rain - bicycling in the rain was unheard of! People there would use an umbrella to walk 8 feet in the rain. My daughter never understood it...

You keep an umbrella with you in Phoenix? I don't even carry one with me in the Pacific Northwest... :)

Who's going to win the Superbowl XLVII?

I agree, the new review is much better because it takes the inaccuracies out and actually paints a better picture of a person's opinion. Having incorrect information just made it all seem poorly executed. Much better. My advice: before you post, fact check, spell check, proof read, and fact check again. The Internet can be a brutal place and Google has a long memory... New article: http://skeetercarz2.blogspot.com/2013/01/2013-ford-c-max.html Keep doing the reviews kid. Listen to criticism, ignore hate. You'll go far!

Capless tank, any possible problems with topping off?
valkraider replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
If its clicking off that early, try using it on a lower flow rate. Don't run it at full flow... -
European tests if you are interested.... Other than changes as a result of the hybrid powertrain, this is predominantly the same car with regards to crash tests.

The VIN number does not mean the car is on the lot. Dealers get their VIN the same way the rest of us did, shortly after ordering once build is scheduled. I work on the computer systems which supply this data, the inventory search function is imprecise at best with regards to dealerships - especially the less electronic dealerships. Often they will have a VIN listed which isn't even the same trim level of car - for example the listing says SE but the VIN is for an SEL.... There is no guarantee a car is in the lot without going and looking at the lot. Heck, some on the lot might even be "sold" or "traded" and not even available anymore... I wish we could buy cars like buying from Amazon... Click. Configure. Click. Get funding. Click. Order. Click. Get shipping tracking info. Get vehicle. ;)

Are there any FORD dealers aware of Low MPG problems?
valkraider replied to ptjones's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Most people in general never go to forums. The ones that do are predominantly people with problems. Outside of us nerds - most people don't find a forum, register, and post to say "no problems today".- 20 replies

The clips on the underside of the console door are for USB memory sticks and SD cards. Why would we not be able to use the storage area in the back? Why would an owners manual tell us what to use it for? Just don't lose that funnel. You need it if you have to refuel from a gas can.

The system the car uses is a Freescale i.MX516 SystemOnChip(SoC). That has a 600MHz ARM Cortex-A8 main processor Qualcomm Adreno 200 graphics processor (formerly known as AMD Imageon Z430) 512MB RAM 2GB NAND flash storage This was current as of at least August, So there is a good bet it is what it still in our C-Max. - 286? how about the 8088? I remember my first hard drive, 10MB. I thought "Man, I will *never* fill this thing up." I've taken photos with my phone that are larger than 10MB... I also remember the days where we could enhance our performance by adding a math-co-processor. ;) 386 SX, 386 DX, etc... Also having all kinds of boot up tricks to enable RAM over 640kb. Fun with Microsoft!

We have those car coasters in our truck, Raiders for me and Broncos for my wife. They were more important down south with the heat & humidity, there was a lot of condensation on cold drinks. Out west it's a little bit less necessary but they're cool just the same.

California is the largest market for EVs and hybrids. So California will see more of them in general at any point in time. They also get models we will never see anywhere else (compliance cars). Heck, the west coast in general is a larger market for EVs and Hybrids than the entire rest of the nation: http://www.plugincars.com/polk-electric-vehicle-sales-125954.html Often inventory systems will include vehicles which are in transit and occasionally include vehicles which have merely been ordered. Since they are listing VINs I am assuming they are at least in transit. They may not all be sitting on the lot.

I got a cool little tray thing, it inserts in a cup-holder and sticks out with a couple cubbies. It still has a cup holder but adds a couple cubbies. I have it in the 2nd cup holder (farthest from dash) and turned to the driver side, it hangs over the back part of the parking brake. It gives me a couple places to set a phone or other little junks. Doesn't get in the way of opening the storage bin or operating the parking brake or seat belt...

EPA to test C-Max hybrid on mpg claims
valkraider replied to darrelld's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Yeah, the problem isn't the delta itself. It's all the people claiming that the Prius beat EPA numbers all the time while the C-Max does not. Personally, I don't care about the pissing match. If people like a Prius, buy a Prius. Don't go on a C-Max forum and talk trash. What bothers me is misinformation or lies. There have been plenty of people with plenty of sources and lots of data which shows: 1. Almost all cars fall short of EPA numbers in real world - mainly because real world driving is not the same as the EPA tests. 2. EPA numbers are possible in any vehicle - but by no means guaranteed. 3. All vehicles perform worse in winter months - for a long list of reasons - too long to mention here. But evidence is showing the CMax has a large drop in cold temps. Meanwhile moderate temps enable fantastic numbers. 4. The C-Max has a higher range of variability than some other cars - both good and bad. It can go faster and is nicer to drive at the cost of lower fuel economy. But people are figuring out how to drive it and get amazing numbers. -
Weird fan noise from engine compartment at start up
valkraider replied to dtorres's topic in General Discussion
That could be it. There are all kinds of things which happen for short periods at start up - but may not be needed every time. It could be the AC pump pressurizing. It could be the oil pump pressurizing. It could be coolant pumps or the active shutter motors. All kinds of things. But it seems that it happens to most of us and only for short times and only occasionally....
