Radio, speakers, sync all stopped working
plus 3 golfer replied to Annabug's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Also, make sure the fuses are good by checking the continuity of the fuse with a voltmeter. Use Ohm setting with leads across the fuse. If good, you should see near zero. I'd check F67 and F79 (see link below). -
What side of the car is the leak on? Do you smell washer fluid? The rear washer hose is routed along the right (passenger) side above the rear side glass with a loop that drops down near the back of the right side vent in the hatch area. The loop has a fitting to connect / disconnect the hose from the front of the car to the hose to the rear wiper. I seem to recall someone had a leak in the rear washer system. I can't recall what the outcome was though. .

Yes, also note in the driving cycle that to enter the EVAP check, the ambient temperature has to be between 40F and 100F. Here's P0457 from the manual. Note what one should do to clear debris on the seal - in essence put the funnel in and remove 5X. :) P0457 - EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Cap Loose/Off) Description: The PCM infers the fuel level when the ignition switch is in the OFF position based on fuel tank vapor pressure. If the fuel tank pressure rapidly changes after key OFF the PCM sets a refueling flag. This DTC sets when the evaporative emission (EVAP) monitor detects a gross leak while the refueling flag is set and incorrectly sealed fuel tank filler pipe is suspected. When the DTC sets, a message on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) may display. Possible Causes: Capless fuel tank filler pipe not sealed correctly Damaged capless fuel tank filler pipe Diagnostic Aids: Verify the capless fuel tank filler pipe is sealed correctly. Install and remove the supplemental fueling adapter five times in the capless fuel tank filler pipe to clear debris on the seal. Refer to the Owners Literature for the location of the supplemental fueling adapter in the vehicle. If OK, clear the continuous memory DTCs and test the system for correct operation. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory All GO to Pinpoint Test HX .

ForScan will likely be able to reset it as there is probably a DTC stored. Here's the driving cycle pdf that I attached to a post before. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=1747

New Owner of a used 2013 C Max - Computer Question
plus 3 golfer replied to Bobs184000's topic in General Discussion
I'd say if you can attain EV mode at or above 70 mph, you have the update. Prior to the update I could stay in EV mode up to about 66-67 mph even though the specs indicated EV up to 62 mph. Also, if owners.ford.com show nothing for your VIN, then your car should have had all recalls and appropriate FSAs installed. -
What is the lowest priced gasoline you've put into your C-Max
plus 3 golfer replied to raadsel's topic in Fuel Mileage
$1.539 - for top tier regular E10 gas at several stations within a mile or two. Non top tier gas is usually a few cents less than regular. E0 is 1.999, 2.199, and 2.399 for 87, 89, and 91 octane gas respectively here. The cost effectiveness of E0 at current price levels effectively means one has to get about 30% better FE using regular grade E0 vs E10 or 56% better FE using premium grade E0 vs regular E10 to break even. This may get worse before it gets better - see link below. UPDATE: Crude keeps a weak hold on $28 ahead of U.S. stockpile data -
If you are worried about resale value, you are likely buying the wrong make and model. :) Buy a Prius. ;) Seriously, the C-Max IMO is a great car. There are a few that have had "no-start" issues due to a discharged 12 V battery (it seems more on 2013 SEs although it may appear more prevalent due to more 13s being sold). One would hope Ford has resolved this on 2015s and via it's TSBs for earlier models. I have MFT and could easily live without it since I don't have Navigation. If you want OEM Navigation you will need MFT (larger screen) as you can buy used APIM modules with Nav or get the existing one re-programmed (search ebay). Garmin for areas without cell service and Smartphones IMO are better. So, I'd go with the 2015 as I don't believe MFT absent Navigation (as in the 2013 you are looking at) adds value.

Rattles in Front Suspension
plus 3 golfer replied to darrelld's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
Try this. tsb13-12-09 (1).pdf -
You need the APIM module updated with Nav Software or some say that a used APIM from a C-Max with Nav software on it will work. See Ebay link . http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Navigation-Upgrade-For-All-2011-2016-Ford-Models-with-MFT-MyFord-Touch-SYNC-/201382907125

2016 Hybrid Limited To 62 MPH EV
plus 3 golfer replied to SnowStorm's topic in 2016 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
I've had all updates done and my 2013 in the last 15 minutes or so ran at 74 mph in EV mode on slight downgrades. :) -
MFT update to v3.8 has been released
plus 3 golfer replied to raadsel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Granted we can install 3.8 at home (which I can certainly do). But that's not the point. If owner.ford does not show this update, how can we be sure other future updates / FSA will be listed for other modules? What about those owners who aren't members of a forum and rely on owner.ford for notification of updates (not safety recalls) that are covered under warranty. It's clear that even the dealers aren't aware of the 3.8 update that owners are entitled to under warranty. :) We should not have to go to a dealer and "argue" with the dealer or tell the dealer to call technical support. ;) What's even more bothersome is the lack of Ford's response via the Ford reps on this site with updates on why 3.8 doesn't show up and when it will show up. I've got less than 2 years until I reach 5 years of ownership at which time IIRC the extended warranty on the APIM module and software expires. -
Right now in TN I can buy a 2016 Energi after FIT credit of $4,007 and state rebate of $1,500 for less than a Hybrid SEL all other things being the same (including Ford / dealer incentives which a quick search indicates no difference). So, in states where there are tax incentives or rebates to encourage PHEV and EV purchases, my guess is Energi sales will be higher than Hybrid sales. Given where gas prices are now (top tier gas is less than $1.60 / gallon here) and likely to be in the next few years, it's difficult economically to justify spending much more for the Energi over the Hybrid OR to justify the purchase of any HEV, PHEV, or EV over a conventional ICE vehicle.

Here's a brake fluid tester used in this video (for $25 how can one not buy it if one is concerned about whether to change their brake fluid :)). Note at about 1:37 in the video that the moisture content in the brake fluid of a 10 year old Toyota is still good. A $25 investment might save 5 recommended brake flushes in 10 years. Here's a link I just found on brake fluid. Note the various manufacturer's recommendations (or lack there of) on changing brake fluid.
-
Ford doesn't list changing brake fluid as a maintenance item. Dealers will likely recommend changing it every few years. Some manufacturers list it and some don't. If you want "peace of mind", change it. I haven't changed brake fluid on any cars I've owned since my 1982 MB 300 SD at about 200 k miles. I don't plan on changing brake fluid any time soon on my C-Max. :)

Sure sounds like you had Grade Assist on (button on side of shifter). If so, ICE was just spinning (no fuel injection) to maintain speed via engine braking going down hill. There are many posts on Grade Assist.

I'm assuming the reference to DHA is really "Grade Assist" as I know members use the words down hill assist when referring to Grade Assist. So are you saying that pushing the Grade Assist button does nothing in your Energi as that is what I'm referring to? The Grade Assist quote from the manual below appears to apply to the Hybrid and Energi. "Grade assist: • The grade assist lamp in the instrument cluster isilluminated.• Provides additional grade braking with a combination of enginemotoring and high-voltage battery charging to help maintain vehiclespeed when descending a grade.• As the vehicle determines the amount of engine motoring andhigh-voltage battery charging, you may notice the engine speedincreasing and decreasing to help maintain your vehicle speed whendescending a grade."

Strange, long wooooo sound at steady speeds, ICE on
plus 3 golfer replied to Alex Sams's topic in 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
You now know that you have the attention of Ford's legal department. It's likely a standard response from legal as some will just go away. Yes, good choice in talking to an attorney. Good luck. -
I assume DHA = Down Hill Assist . HVB = High Voltage Battery ICE = Internal Combustion Engine If I'm right on DHA, the statement "DHA only use the ICE, if, the HVB is full" is incorrect as written. DHA will also use ICE to maintain speed going downhill if speed cannot be maintained by regenerative braking (traction motor used as generator putting load on the wheels and producing electrical energy which is stored in the HVB) even if the HVB is not full.

MFT update to v3.8 has been released
plus 3 golfer replied to raadsel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
NO :) -
That is likely for the auxiliary cabin heater on the Energi as there is an ECT sensor in that circuit. It should not be confused with the CHT. "A cabin heater coolant temperature sensor (also known as ECT sensor 2) in the cabin heater system [emphasis added] provides the PCM with coolant temperature information."
-
That's because the HVB was full ;) and regenerative braking (MG2 - the traction motor acting as a generator putting load on the car) could no longer be used to simulate "engine" braking (ICE then spins for engine braking) and / or you used grade assist to maintain speed and grade assist couldn't maintain speed unless it engaged ICE. Engine RPM can be very high when using grade assist. I use it all the time. Fuel will not be injected into the cylinders in these cases.
