  1. I have the same set of Husky's. I like them a lot. Water puddles in the mat (mostly because of snow) and keeps it off of the carpet. I keep an old towel in the garage and just mop it up from time to time. This cleans up the mats pretty good too.
  2. You might want to look at marine refrigerators. They can cost more but can be very efficient at the using battery power. Still does not solve your battery problem but you might not need to charge as often. The standard electric car coolers eat up power pretty good.
  3. I like it a lot as well. Thx to Ford engineers/management that did not just try to copy other cars in this class. Truly unique. :worship: :worship: :worship:
  4. At the auto show I went and looked again at the Honda Fit. This was on my list of cars. I like the design of the car. Great interior use and great FE. I can also get in and out of this car pretty good. I really like the car but the feel is very different from the C-Max. I feel safer and more like I am in a premium vehicle in the C-Max.
  5. Nice write up. Enjoyed the story. I can diffidently understand why some say to just use Eco-cruise and forget it. Great MPG and your tires were under inflated for part of the trip. I find it interesting that you were in EV mode less than 17% of the time and still had great FE.
  6. I know what you mean. I just did the Detroit Auto Show and sat in a lot of cars. It was fun but it felt so good to get back in the C-Max. It is a great car.
  7. Lots of info on this forum on getting the best FE. Here is one to get you started http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4719-highway-fe/?hl=highway Just search in the forum and you should find a bunch of posts. No real one answer. There are a lot of different techniques for highway driving.
  8. Just looked it up too and I agree, the numbers now seem the same. Maybe they changed something to reduce the variety of parts or the ones I had were for a older model of the Escape.
  9. Those look nice. I have not seen those before. Not sure of the size though. I originally ordered Weathertech for the C-Max and when they arrived they would not fit. I looked and saw that the model number was different from what I ordered. I looked up the number and it said it was for an Escape. They really were not close to fitting as they hit the seat. You could mash them down and it would work but it was not a good fit at all. I sent them back and bought the Husky ones which fit great. I could have bought the right ones from Weathertech too but that is another story. I think I posted it here somewhere. So I am surprised that they list the same ones for both C-max and Escape.
  10. That is a good fix to the problem. I just saw this post for the first time. This was a problem for me too but it was two fold. Things sliding around and I don't like the placement of the glove box from the drivers seat. It is very hard to reach over and get things out. I was shopping one day at Staples and they had a nice little open top box for storing things in a desk drawer on the clearance tables outside the store. I thought, would this work in the glove box? For a few $$ I thought it was worth a try. It worked out great. I does not fit the full width of the glove box but it is good enough to get a lot of stuff in this box. Now I can just reach over and grab the whole box out and put that on the seat. Grab what I want and put it back. Very happy with this solution. I guess one step better would be to come up with something that fit in that area a little better. Maybe a custom box? Even a plastic storage box might work. I see there are advantages to this and the plastic lip. It could be a better design from Ford.
  11. My technique is about the same as ScubaDadMiami stated above. I understand this P & G for a traditional ICE vehicle but I don't understand why you would want to do this on a Hybrid? Would you not want to use the battery power to drive the car? Would you drain off the battery and then Glide? For me by the time I drain the battery I am low on speed anyway so I don't know how I would do that?
  12. I did not know that. I thought gliding was using EV to try to keep the car going without using ICE. I have not tried this on the highway but I think the speed would drop much faster than SOC with just pushing on the pedal enough to just start discharging the battery? Something new to play with. Learned something new again today. Thx
  13. That sounds really bad in the audio file. Does it really sound like that? Can you tell where the sound is coming from? The noise I hear is nothing that loud in my car but it does come in and out like you are talking about. Resonant frequencies can be very damaging.
  14. I have done the coasting thing with a manual trans vehicle for years. I do not do this with the C-Max. What I do find that helps somewhat is coasting but push on the gas pedal just enough to start discharging the battery. That little bit of energy can push the C-Max a long ways. I use this in the morning when no one is on the road (5am) and I am timing traffic lights. I would rather be driving slow waiting for the light than sitting at the light waiting.
  15. Checked and I do not have to put my foot on the brake to get the car ready to drive. It maybe required on the SEL but at least on my SE, it works fine with just turning the key.
  16. I did have an issue where the latch would pop but not completely and you could not open the liftgate. After a few seconds you would hear the latch pop again and everything was good. Did this for a few weeks, then it was fine. Asked the dealer about this when it was in for service thinking they would check the adjustment. They just said it was working fine. I don't think they checked anything other than it opened. But I guess if it is working then leave it alone. Not sure if this is what you see?
  17. I have always felt that way about leather seating. Even in the house, I am just not comfortable sitting on leather especially in warmer weather. My other half and I test drove a few SEL C-Max's in the summer trying to like the leather seats. I tried but just felt hot sitting on them. It does clean up well.
  18. There are many SE owners that are happy with there purchase. I do agree that the poll results show that the standard SE had more dead battery issues than the SEL. If you are going to only look at the poll results than the SE with the MFT upgrade has less issues than the SEL. There is a lot more to look at when it comes to this issue and the poll results. I could have purchased either one but choose the SE over the SEL as I wanted a more basic car and wanted to keep more $$ in my wallet. I also did not like the leather seats so the SE was the only option for me. I did get the MFT upgrade and the winter package. I do think there was something early on with the standard Sync system (small display) that could be part of the battery issue. This is just from reading here on the forums. I also think that a newer vehicle will give you a much better chance of not having this battery issue. I have had my SE for 5 months now and I would buy a SE again in a heartbeat. Most people love to have a loaded up car. I am in the minority to want less. The standard features in the SE are options on many other cars. To each his own. That is why they make both models (at least in the non-plug in model)
  19. My last car was a scion xB which is similar to the Cube. I loved that car. City and Highway FE was about the same at 30 mpg. If I tried I could get 36 on the highway. I think I had about 6 inches of room above my head in that car. The C-Max is pretty good too.
  20. I understand that but many people including myself don't like them. I guess that is why they make all kinds of vehicles. I am just glad to see that they are still looking to build electrics that are not all low to the ground to get a little more FE. I would not be driving one if that was the case. Looks like BMW thinks the same way too. My neck hurts from getting in and out of the VW rental car this week. Tomorrow I am back in my C-Max. :>)
  21. Saw this write up today that I thought was pretty good. http://t.co/x87OgRRkym
  22. From what I have heard this is not really a concept car. They are saying 12 to 18 months until production. I think Chevy was a leader with the volt and if they can come through with this it should be a hit but maybe not if the gas prices stay where they are today. I love the styling and the taller crossover concept. That is what attracted me to the C-Max. The problem here for me is the range. I don't think I want a car I can not take on trips even with a 200 mile range. The Volt always was slammed for having a ICE. It is an extended range electric vehicle but the general public think of this as no different from any other plug in hybrid. The line is really foggy between these two concepts. I like having an ICE so I can go as far was I want. I do like the plug in and most of the time this will work fine for all electric driving as most of my trips are less than 20 miles. Now maybe if they can come up a quick charging method, then that might work. Since we are talking about Chevy here, I was looking forward to the new Volt. From what I see so far I am not impressed as all. The styling of the original Volt was nothing special and I think this one is even worse. I did not even look at the Volt because of the low profile. Not for me. I am driving a VW passat this week as a rental. The car drives well but it is another low profile roof that I feel like I have to almost lay down to get my head in the car. Drives very nice but I would never own one with that roof line. I give Chevy credit for the styling of the Bolt. The Volt just looks like another standard Chevy on the road. I think that is what they wanted. I hope it works for them. It does nothing for me so far.
