  1. LOL. Easy to do when the car is so quiet in running mode. I see trains running all the time in railyards. Maybe C-Max's can start a new trend? :happy feet:
  2. I use mine for pen/pencils. I find it a great place to keep them and always know where to find it. No more looking in the back of the glovebox.
  3. Interesting. I had a Scion xB and sold it to get the C-Max. They are very different cars. Mine was the 1st gen xB. It was a great car and served me well for 135K miles. It had it share of issues under warranty but overall a great fun car. I was not a fan of gen 2 but I am sure it is a good car too. I like the C-Max a lot too but for different reasons. The C-Max feels like a heavier beefier quieter car that would hold up better in a crash. The xB was more fun taking turns as it felt tighter. I did upgrade the springs on the xB so that is part of it.
  4. I did not know they were on this list for the past 3 years. Good to hear good news about our cars.
  5. People do like their trucks and I own one. It is all what you like. Personally I enjoy driving the C-max more than the truck but they are both good. It would be hard to pull my 7000 boat with the C-max ;) I think it would be boring if we all drove the same thing. I am glad that we have the freedom to choose what we want (well maybe other than a little persuasion from our other half) :)
  6. Nice project. Thx for all the details. I have not seen a sub like that before. Looks like a good fit under the seat.
  7. Wow, thx for asking. Going great so far. No issues. Scott
  8. Congrats. I like that color too. Have fun.
  9. The rear vents are standard on all models. The headlights are the same on all models but fog lights are not standard on the SE trim. For me the SE with cloths seats, the large 8" display MFT and winter package was perfect for me but as others have said they like the loaded up SEL models. I don't like leather seats and I will take the cost savings and keep it in the bank. Good luck in your decision.
  10. I do remember a post talking about one from Amazon that they liked. I bought one just a few weeks ago from Lowes that seems OK. Ratings were good. I am a little concerned that my battery was drained when I bought it. It charged up fine but I will keep an eye on it to see how well it holds the charge. Does not help much if your backup battery is dead when you need it.
  11. I was the same way. Could not wait to get it. Great to drive and fun to learn tricks to driving it too. At least for me it is. Congrats!
  12. Thx for sharing. Yes, this past winter was one of the coldest ones I remember here in Detroit. Route to work now is about 60 MPG and the coldest days were about 32 MPG. 10 mile trip with a slow city route. I think longer would help bring up the FE. 71 deg here today and loving it! :)
  13. Good post. I have looked at MPG a lot but I have not really broke down the cost. Not really saving that much if you are going on long trips and need to get there. On the other side for local runs I have many times taken surface streets as apposed to freeways. Depends on how much time I have. Benefits are: - I get to drive the C-Max more which I love to drive. - Increased FE which has become somewhat of a game to me. Funny thing though, I know the roads around me and the timing of the lights. I do many times do what I need to do to time the lights. I do have some people get upset that I am not racing to the light to slam on my brakes. Many of these people I see on the road every day as I go to work. I catch up to them at the light and sometime blow by them just as the light turns green. A bunch of them in the morning have now slowed down and drive with me now. More relaxing and we all get there at the same time anyway.
  14. Thx Quite a discount. List $50, cost $15. I will add that to my list of amazon items to purchase.
  15. I thought this was interesting. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-14/toyota-plots-a-comeback-for-prius-after-ceding-stardom-to-tesla
  16. I think ICE will still be around. I know guys that hate hybrids and say it is too quiet. That said for most people it comes down to cost. Gas prices have dropped a lot over the past year. Truck sales have been great and the C-Max's have had a hard time selling as have many other smaller fuel efficient cars. As the cost of electrics come down and become cheaper to buy/operate and maybe even simpler to repair then the sales will go up. Someone said here that records have gone by the wayside. True for the most part but there is still a market for records. I recently heard about a few new turntables coming out. So it is not dead but a small percentage of what it was. I think ICE will become the same thing. Some will still want it but most will switch to the new technology again if it is better and cheaper.
  17. Nice post. Thx for doing that. Good place to buy the filters? Does Fram or some other after market company make them?
  18. Thx for posting the update. Good to hear that you like the car. I love my SE too. About 8 months old now. It is so much fun to drive and perfect for me. Just curious how the dead battery issue was solved? I recently had this issue too. Battery checked ok. reflashed the ROM with a new dataset per tech service bulletin.
  19. Thx I guess I was reading too much into it. It does say "Mode and PID". What I was missing was that you enter the mode "22" and PID "2813" on the first line. So "222813". The scaling I kept at x1. The number of decimals came as default but I see you can change that on the gauge if needed. It is all working now. Thx everyone for the help.
  20. I have the page to enter this info but as C-MaxSea posted I don't see how these column headers match to what Torque wants? I seen in a post that the OBD Header is shown above as TP Hdr. Does OF Mod. & Mode PID combine for "OBD2 Mode and PID (in Hex....?? Past Decimal is scale factor? Sorry for the questions. I looked in the wiki and googled it but did not find anything that walks you through this programming.
  21. I am not a fan of these. Hybrid bear said it best. It is what you are comfortable with as far as risk. $46 a month sounds like a lot to me. I bet they could afford to give you oil changes with that amount. I hear a lot from people thinking they are covered saying that the part that is bad is not covered by the extended warranty. I hear a general rule of thumb that 50% of the cost goes to the sales person/dealer that sells it to you. If they were not making money they would not offer the plan. But that is my opinion and I was a licensed mechanic for a years so I might do some of my own work too. No experience with hybrid repair yet. Don't forget that your hybrid system is already covered for a long time. I think 8 years or 100K miles?
  22. Just wondering: What model you have (SE or SEL) If a SE do you have the 8" display (MFT)? Thx
  23. I think that if it was a bigger seller here then we might see these options. With cheap fuel prices and the extra cost for the diesel, it would probably be a hard sell. 65 MPG is a nice selling point. I wonder if their 65 MPG would be the same here? Not sure how their rating compares to the EPA rating in the US?
  24. That was what I thought would happen as well. I did not see anything on my phone about updating. Thx for the tip on the climate control. I will try that. I know I lost a bunch of setting with the dealer update. To be expected. I need to reprogram my one button push for opening all the doors again. I love that feature. We had to use the Truck on Easter to travel to the in-laws house because of the battery issue. I like the truck but I could not wait to get back in the C-Max. I love driving this car. Thx again
  25. Thx Tricia Good to know you are out there if needed. I appreciate the reply.
