No way will I get up that early to head down there, thats for the birds...or :worship: dedication to the Maxer Me, I'd rather sleep in and then cruise on down there latah in the arvo :shift: Not likely, I'll be in stealth mode and innocuous, blend in with the rest of the other CMax owners, no photographic evidence I was ever there... :superhero:

I wouldn't do that... :shoppingcart_:

Psychic test actually :superhero:

Welcome to the forum and congratz, lots of information here for you to peruse and enjoy. Yaaah...chalk another white CMax
-
Are you sure....your brand new spanking CMax... :runaway:
-
Yeah, I would be p*ssed too, they should have their own gas there. The dealer (Galpin Motors Company) that I bought it from have their own gas station. A few years ago, when we bought some Jaguar from them, the first few times the Jag was in the shop they would tank up the car, we luv it...but alas, not for the Ford.

Drink some beer and you'll snooze like a baby then a strong cup of coffee in the moring and you're good as gold ;)

It is the EV kicking in to help the ICE, you can clearly see this in the ENGAGE mode, however, the sound takes a while to get use to and coming from a manual aka stick shift cars in the past, its disconcerting to my ears. The batts are so high, even if I want to use the ICE only at speeds < 63, it will always engage the battery so just pulse it to the speed that you need and just let it coast to recharge.

There you go...if you can hit 42MPG on such a new car, you wonder why those DODOs :runaway: at CR can't hit 38MPG in a well used press car. Well done, it only gets better

autogeek is a great forum and good place to get stuff.

Hey welcome to the forum rmcmast- yeah, don't worry about the MPG, it's a takes a long while (> 5000 miles) till the engine breaks in and the summer heat enhances your chances for better MPGs, be patient. In the meantime, enjoy the forum and enjoy the car :) As a prior owners of 2 Escapes, is the CMax more responsive, same or less? Jus' curious.

1 car wash = 2 beer, wonder which one I'll take

Welcome and congratulations on your new CMax... that was an expensive service huh? ;) It's ironic I saw this post, I pulled into smart and final, right next to a brand spanking new Escape, and visually the Escape was a little bigger internally and probably AWD, I came away with the CMax as a better drive and overall package...especially when gas today was $4.25. The owner was there so I bought my stuff and stealthily pulled away. :wub2: The CMax

Hee.. u know you're gonna be sweating every drive to beat 42, u have the MPG disease ;) :happy feet: Congratz on your 1st tank, looking forward to adding u to the 600 Mile Cmax Club real soon

Its 79 today, gonna hit the gym and then some Costco shopping and then its wash Maxine day, gotta keep her shiny...all that shine, dirt free paint adds another .00001 of a mile to the MPGs ;)

I'm going to throw this back to Galpin next week (if I have a free day) rather than wait for a new update and show them the photo. To be off by a road is length ain't bad as most GPS are off by a yard or two but that photo is RIDICULOUS. My SkyCaddie is way, way, way more accurate than this pos MFT Nav. Yes, I said it...pos... :nonono:

I did that to Max as soon as I got her back. 3 hrs of luvin elbow grease, got all the crap off her that accumulated from the train/trucks and sitting in the car yard.

mtb, whats your odo right now? I think it all depends on your engine. ptjones has double my mileage at 12K and mine is 6K. I seriously think that this engine doesn't open up till past 5000 miles. As proof, look in the other Fuel Mileage thread where I lay out 3 trips to Mammoth mountain at various stages of my Max's engine life and you can see the improvement. Also, I've changed my driving to keep the battery level as high as possible as priority and not let it run down....give that a go. For me, I see better and more effective use of the battery at this level as compared to the lower third charge where it dwindles in no time flat and practically useless (the result of running too long of a P&G with no decent charge cycle). My 2c.

Not quite 650 miles or anywhere near it...but :yahoo: 604 miles for me with this tank, temps in 74F and it was a beautiful day. Speaking of which, how often do we see this...hum to the song "Running on empty..." More city in this one as thats what works call for...interesting is that there is ZERO vehicle range but the actual gas usage was 12.58 gallons and when I tanked up, it was around 12.8 gallons so....is there another 3/4 gallons in reserve that Ford has hidden from us and we don't see - just in case fools like me get to zero and need to get to a gas station, we have reserve....hmmmmmh.... Oh, don't try this without a spare gas cannister in the back. It's interesting that ptjones (45%) and I (50%) nearly get half of our mileage from EV, not too shabby imo considering our smaller battery sizes vs the larger Energis.

While not as sophisticated as the MFT Nav, I have to say my 2007 Jaguar navigation with the ole DVD was far more accurate and stable, and kept track of all my past destinations. And you can change the voice as well ;) Another fine example of the accuracy of the MFT Nav... Bring on the update. Please.

Socks are your friend ;)

Yep, that the ICE high mpg mode and that is beautiful indeed :) My 1st point was whether what I was hearing and feeling is just a gearing issue, or maybe it's some sort of ICE/EV combo - to me it just sounds and feels "odd". If you take a manual shift car, from stop, put it into 1st, pick up speed to say 10mph and throw it to the 3rd gear - that's what it feels like except with the Max, it will go like it was OK. Next time you've got a full or > 95% battery, bring the speed to say 35mph and let the car fall into EV and then press the pedal to kick in the ICE to accelerate to say 50mph. Just curious that was all....
-
Is it my Max or does this happen to your Max as well? With a full or near full battery, when I engage the ICE from EV, say 35mph to 45mph or higher, I notice the ICE sounds and feels like its in high gear. It does not have characteristic "whirl" ICE sound - but it still goes and responds. Also, I am noting that at 90%+, using the acceleration to recharge stops working. Only way to bring in more charge is to pulse and let the coasting do the charging. Anyone else notice these characteristics?
