Have at it.... http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/consumers-favorites/#

My hairdresser has not even heard of a CMax let alone the commercial...and she was looking at the Kia SOLs (?) and some other Buick. I showed her Max and she liked it I said it got mid 40s MPG to the gallon (its 46.2 right now on this tank) so she impressed. And I let her sit in the car which she really liked the easy in and out. Also, met another guy at the job in Oxnard who hadn't heard about the CMax either. So the Ford messaging is not *quite* getting out there but this guy was a diesel guy...he luved that diesel and would have bought Max is it had a diesel in it (which they do in Europe). That one trip I had 54.2MPG over 50.2 miles and coming back was 39.6MPG with an average of 46.9 :happy feet: and it was mid 40s cold in the evening as well.

Max for Maxine. Kinda reminds me of the "Max" from MI1 - sophisticated lady, just can't bloody well understand my accent. Hold nothing against her. Mind you, at least Carla (our Jaguar navigation voice) came with an assortment of accents - English, French but no Aus. *sigh*. such a neglected country.... :waiting:

I just did a Master Reset using the MFT system command so lets see how it does tomorrow. Yeah, this MFT is starting to bug me but its better than nought.

Capless tank, any possible problems with topping off?
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Thats what the press recommended when the gas prices skyrocketed up. To me its like hybrid driving, you're sacrificing time for efficiency and in this case, a wee wee bit more gas and avoiding some known issues. -
Well...chalk me down as having a clock issue today. Went into the car and it was off like 5 hrs...wtf...yes, I know about the mapquest/syncmyride but I don't use it. Yet. Also, this wayward GPS is starting to drive me nutz. *sigh* At least now I have something concrete to blast to the Ford Engineers in Irvine.

Fuel mileage when you commute down (and up) a 5,000 foot mountain
Jus-A-CMax replied to nomadchick's topic in Fuel Mileage
Nomadchick, good to hear! You'll find that the MPG numbers will go up. At 2500 on the odo, its only starting to break in. Although not as high as 5000 ft climb, I've done the Bishop to Toms Place and thats pretty steep and long as well and very, very cold and for me, I just stick it on 55 eco cruise and let it ride up the mountain. Can't do much to fight the physics :runaway: Its also too much to do otherwise given the gradient. Thus far, from Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes which is a 290 mile climb, I've averaged 33.5MPG getting there but coming back, I think its like mid 40s MPG - go check out my 2 threads to the Mammoth. So yeah, sit cool and enjoy those down hill cruises, you can get some insane MPGs there for sure with little to no gas burnt...beautiful thing about hybrids for sure. And what goes down, must come up - you're so on the right track and cruise on the right hand lane and listen to the books or music. Good stuff, and watch your MPG improves as you break the 3000-4000 and 5000 miles. The warmer weather would help as well :) PS Let me guess, Apple Valley/Victorville down and up the 15? -
I had more range with less red bar in my 600 mile/tank run last week. It probably factor in your MPG. Plus, I rather it go conservative else you hitch a ride on the back of a tow truck ala http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/1062-its-days-like-this-you-wish-you-had-a-gas-engine/

Folding side mirrors -- how far?
Jus-A-CMax replied to roninsd's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
These things should have been electric in the first place. C'mon Ford, if KIA can do it why not the Blue Oval.... :waiting: -
Nice green thumb Ron  Erh...no...I have better use of the right side view: mp3 songs ;)

It's days like this, you wish you had a gas engine...
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
No range, thats my problem with the leaf and also the Focus electrric. Today, I drove 220 miles and I would be so scr*wed if I had either car. With the Tesla S, it may have been OK but thats 2 or 3 CMaxs in that 1 car. Now...I better not hear any of you CMax owners running out of gas and towed back ;) And YES Rachel, the Max-Sony was PUMPING with Danthology, body shots, buttons and daddy cool...... :happy feet: -
Aha,...I threw it into the Engage mode and did the same thing. Here's whats happening....Max will gun the elec and you can see the blue rise and then it will kick in the ICE. The idea is that you punch elec out, get the car moving and kick in the ICE to move it a little more but just enough for a spurt to get the momentum up the hill and kill it. Also, you need about 1/2 battery for this so that the elec has some juice. So throw the left view into Engage mode and watch it work. IMO, this is ideal for short spurts, low to no speed up hill runs - a problem I have sometimes as I drive around the houses. As versus more time on the gas pedal for ICE to burn constantly.

I concur with the other owners. When you are in Trip 1 or Trip 2 screen and press-n-hold reset, it will only reset that screen, it does not effect EV+. If you want to clear EV+, its a harder find to locate the "lifetime" and pressing reset there. For me, Trip 1 is always the gas counter so that gets reset on each tank, like you. Trip 2 I use to record daily trips (when I bother and remember) and I reset that all the time. Sometimes I also reset the Empower MPG as well.

Your favourite dinner/lunch/food - let's see 'em!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
C'mon Fits2at, go and post a nice dinner and lunch with your camera phone. Lets get some more colors into this forum.... :wub2: -
Its about the same here in SoCal, no increase nor decrease and its the exact same commercial with the sketch guy. No new commercial afaik. Looks like Ford marketing are not going to lie down with the mileage controversy. Plus, it would be spring soon - just right when engines break in (assuming they buy them now), warmer temperatures, so owners are going to start edging closer to the MPG mark, if not break it. My tank is at 46.5 right now with about 130miles on it and its 4900 on the odo. I don't see any special-special deals and prices are consistent from what I have seen around here.

I should say, like any other hybrid driving technique, don't try this when there is a car behind you especially if it is a single lane. But if theres no one, hey...

Ok, you're on the hook for....lets see.....lets see.....lets see.....ah...ha......CMax Music choice - there you go. Start compiling the music for your CMax to dump into a USB drive and post up any great suggestions, preferably with youtube link. Indie, Pop, Dance, Folk anything interesting for our wide range of CMax owners here. You already have a head start on this.... ;)

Came across this poor sod's run with an all electric Leaf - not good when you are out of volts... :redcard: ..... hello tow truck :hysterical: http://www.plugincars.com/why-ev-charging-companies-need-notification-systems-126133.html Its days like this, I'd rather have a gas/elec engine than pure elec.

Hmmmh....to get home, I have to climb a gradient which starts literally at the STOP sign. Normally, I would start in EV, then at 15mph kick in the ICE and then let it run on ICE up the gradient which is around 20 seconds. It would drop the MPG by about 0.5 with the ICE on all the time. Battery level is just under 1/2 usually. The last 2 runs back home, I did something slightly different - I start in EV from the stop sign and then I would just "punch" the ICE up in like a giant pulse (not quite yellow lining it) but for about a second or 2 maximum. Then foot off, let it glide/EV a wee bit from the momentum and then punch it again. The thinking is that you lurch the car forward, kick in EV for a little while, and lurch it again and somehow, when you demand power from the CMax _ I am thinking _ it draws and utilizes the EV engine as well. The trick seems to be not to let the ICE part burn long - just build the upward momentum. Now, I am finding that rather than dropping 0.5MPGs with a continuous ICE, I am dropping say 0.1/0.2 for about 3 pulse and glide up this hill. Saving gas - it seems like it. It sounds really counter intuitive since the engine roars on and then I let it glide and roar again. Anyway, thats me playing to see where i can save some gas. Its not much but every lil bit counts. Next time you're going up a lil hill, try that and see if it works for you. Not sure if this would work on a super steep. I estimate mine is around a 25-30* slope. Be Interested to see if other CMax drivers can replicate this, or improve on this or maybe it's just my lil gradient but I thought I would put this out there for others to play and consider

Phew...I don't regret picking mine up from the Galpin lot, its everything i want including the tinting thrown in. I so, so came close to ordering a Ford Fusion hybrid and prepared for the wait but the CMax just blew me away.

It's "Thick as a brick"... ;) Not gonna worry, this is turning into a Seinfeld episode, all about nuthin.
